For reference: In the U.S., my 1966 Fiat 600, one of the bottom line cars of the 60s had a cost of $1,400, equivalent to $13,000 today. And that was a car with NO Options LOL. No seat belts, airbags, infotainment, power anything, and seats equivalent to lawn chairs. When is America going to stop protecting big buck, gas guzzling monsters, and let us have cars we can afford :)

My dream car

This is a really excellent video & exactly what I was looking for. Like a lot of Brits, I'm thinking about making the transition from petrol to electric. Sadly, over here, the economics for the ordinary man in the street simply don't work. The (outrageously!) high initial cost of most EVs massively outweighs any fuel savings you might get. The Seagull however could provide an answer. In China, you can pick one up for about $11k. If they can sell it overseas at close to this price, BYD will clean-up & I will be first in the queue with my chequebook open!

Glad you like it. Yes, you're right, making the move to EV isn't cheap normally, but this one provides and attractive way forward, and I know that BYD is planning to export the Seagull.

Fantastic video. Remember that if anybody buys one, you should always get the one with the largest battery, the 38kWh one because it's the only one that has full battery cooling. The cheaper ones don't have any.

Just FYI, expect the US price to be more like $19k and the Europe price to be more like $16k. Selling outside China has a additional cost for transportation & logistics, localization, safety & regulatory compliance, tariffs & taxes, and distribution / distributors. Even at $19k, it'd be a great deal.

@@ZweiZwolf Yes, that's the conventional way of looking at things but I'm not sure things will pan out that way. I doubt the Seagull will ever make it onto American soil, especially if the Orange Adolf wins the presidency later this year. The EU will allow it but will no doubt slap a hefty tariff on it at the behest of VW, Stellantis et al. The UK might conceivably be different, especially once voters consign our economically & environmentally illiterate government to the waste bin of history. I could see a progressive Labour administration doing a deal with BYD to positively encourage Seagull imports in order to meet our Net Zero commitments. Right now, a single household can claim a £7,500 grant to install a single heat-pump & the irony is folks STILL don't want them!! Why not dump the heat pump subsidy & give a £1,500 grant each to five people buying a Seagull?

Actually there are, I live in the suburbs, so going to work involves going through highways that change altitude by about 60-70 meters on both ways.

You're welcome, sure, I live outside the city in a sort of suburban setup, my work is in a business park about 25 km away, so I drive mostly on highways - average speed is 80Km

Hallo, es tut mir leid, dass ich noch keine DC-Ladegeräte verwendet habe. In Ägypten besteht das Problem, dass die meisten Ladegeräte dem europäischen Protokoll folgen. Innerhalb von 25 Minuten gibt es ein Ladegerät mit chinesischem Protokoll, das ich ausprobieren möchte. Wenn ich es tue, werde ich es aufzeichnen

One thing that I'd ideally want to change on the Seagull is its wipers. We get a lot of rain in the UK & IMO, a single front windscreen wiper & nothing for the rear windscreen, isn't particularly safe. This is particularly true on our fast but overcrowded motorways in winter, when big truck tyres throw up all sorts of dirt & grime onto your car.

Yes, I agree, Cairo is dry, but it rains few days of the year, and it become a problem (although not a big one) you vision is not completely blocked though

@@fredfrond6148 Also for the record Fred, my beloved Suzuki Celerio, which is actually SMALLER & cost less than the Seagull, has two front windscreen wipers & one on the rear. And as someone who regularly drives on our fast & congested UK motorways in wet weather, I can categorically say they are absolutely necessary.

@@MrSensible2 I am not saying that your requirement for a rear wiper is not legitimate. But I have noticed that no ONE complains that the twice the price, than the seagull, Kia ev5 or equivalent Ioniq or the model y have no rear wiper. But everybody complains that the budget seagull has no rear wiper. Isn’t that interesting?🤔

عليكم السلام أخي، انا أشحن السيارة مرة واحدة في الأسبوع 100% واستهلك الشحن طوال ايام الأسبوع ليس للحفاظ على البطارية، ولكن لأنه الشحن يتطلب 5-6 ساعات بالمنزل، وبالتالي افضل اشحنها مرة واحدة بالأسبوع

to new ppl: driving in normal mode or coasting mode is more efficient then in eco or regen mode as regeneration is less efficient then just "sailing" with traffic. 8y ev driver here btw and looking forward to the byd models in europe

I varies because the car isn't officially imported to Egypt, so there are showrooms who offer them at around USD 18,000 or you can order one through some of the middle-men, and pay much less like USD 16,000 but you will have to wait for about 3 months
