This industry really needs some kind of regulation with things like oil concentrations, reformulations that change scent and/or performance, and reducing oil concentrations with new batches, etc. It's practically getting fraudulent at this point.

some designers perform better than niche, I still think designers are better than most niche.

100% agree, compared EdP vs Parfum last week. Parfum bit more refined, creamier but gone soon. No reason to "upgrade" for me. The sales-person at the Parfum-Store bragged about the high percentate of parfum oils ... sigh.

I have found performance for the entire line is hit or miss…. Some perform well on my skin…. Others are not good at all… Not surprised by this…

I have my old bottle of MIB..its an eau de parfum........not an edt

The flanker Man In Black Essence was EDP, and also pretty weak in terms of performance. So not surprised, here. I liked the way it smelled at least. Still favor Black Orient in this series, I guess.

I have Man In Black edp and like it but it sounds like the one to have bought was Bvlgari Man Black Orient with its rum, oud and leather notes along with great performance. I should have bought it a few years ago when Fragrancenet still had it in stock.

I liked the original, but it was never one that really did that much for me tbh. I like the flanker more called Black Orient, dunno if you tried that one Sebastian? I've heard a few people say that performance on this new Parfum one is poor so will definitely be passing on this 👍

Better buy niches fragrances for this price

I can relate, previous concentration is my personal record with 24 sprays - still I couldn't smell it in 1-1,5h. 2nd place would be some John Varvatos.

Same experience with DHP 2020, which Sebastian thinks is a "beast mode" for some reason.

I still enjoy the original Man in Black, as well as the Black Orient. But I'll try the new one as well, once available in my country, to find out how it smells and performs.

Such a great frag but it's too bad they didn't care enough to improve it like amouage did with jubilation 40

I remember a cologne back in the 80s. had an Aztec or Arizona type bottle, like a sand color. Anyone remember that?

Did you try the Black Orient flanker? It was a Parfum. Didn't seem to radically different from the EDP, but did last longer.

The performance does sound disappointing, especially for the price.

That price is steep!

Current formulation of the OG is bad. It used to be a beefy sweet amber oriental. There is now a sourness in the top notes that is unpleasant to my nose

I think I saw the price was $180 USD but not sure that was a result of some currency conversions. Any idea on price for when it hits US?

Hey Sebastian, there is a new Guerlain Vetiver Parfum dropping in Europe. The notes look similar to the old Vetiver Extreme though, may be worth checking it out.

Great insight! I have the OG, but frankly I find it overhyped for no reason. Insane price for this one, damn, Bvlgari's main line is a low shelf designer one, no offence, just like Versace, D&G, Kenzo or JPG. All the best and take care!

These days, if I can smell a perfume on my skin for a few hours I call it a win... it's sad...

It may have to sit for awhile... A very long while.

I've always believe your honest review on other fragrances, it's just that I can't believe they let us down really bad since the EDP is still one of my favorite fragrance, I guess the "PARFUM" label is just a marketing gimmick, I wish it was an improvement from the EDP, such a shame really.

It really seems like designer parfum concentrations are not performing like they should. Profondo Parfum I heard is also very disappointing. At this point, I feel it is best just to stick to EDPs. My hunch is that it is all marketing nonsense. These brands are watering down parfums and then releasing Elixirs (the latest trend) which are ACTUALLY parfums. I say save your money and stick to EDPs or buy Elixirs if you're really into the line.

So sad it doesn't perform

that's just cope. You cannot "age" "mature" or "macerate" a fragrance once it's filled in a bottle.

The so called "potency" of DHP is so disingenuously overhyped, it's unreal. Faint skin scent within an hour. People calling it beast mode are outright lying. It's 10 times weaker than Sauvage Elixir.

I doubt that Alberto even creates any fragrances now days, more like licensing his name to these brands to use.

The Parfum is 79% alcohol just like the EDP. I have a suspicion that they are using the word Parfum as a name and not a descriptor and if its proven that the oil content is the same as the EDP or only very slightly more it should become a scandal in the fragrance community.

That doesn't mean what you think it means, it just means that the perfume is diluted in 79% alcohol, as opposed to pure 100% alcohol. It means that the alcohol itself is diluted with other ingredients (dilutants, distilled water, fixatives, etc) amounting to 21% of total alcohol volume in the bottle.

From reading a lot of comments / reviews on - you know where - the new bottle / reformulation is much weaker than the original EDP.
