The journey of purchasing your first violin can be both exciting and overwhelming. This guide will put your mind at ease and answer 5 key questions you may have when buying your first instrument.
0:13 What size do I need?
If you are an adult, you'll most likely need a full-size violin (4/4). If you are a younger student, the size of the violin will be determined by the length of your arm. You will find the size guide in the end of this video (1:47 Violin sizing guide)
0:29 How much do I need to spend?
The more you spend, the easier the instrument is likely to play. In addition, more expensive instruments tend to have better sounds, increasing your chances of sticking to your new journey. This does not mean you must spend a fortune to get started. If you purchase your instrument in our shop, instruments at all levels are professionally set up by our luthiers, who are known for making exceptional set-ups that give players more comfort and control.
1:01 Is everything included?
If you purchase a student instrument "outfit" - everything you will need to get started is included. That includes a quality case, a bow, rosin, shoulder rest, tuner, mute, and polishing cloth. Higher-level instruments are sold as "instrument only" - but we will happily guide you in finding accessories to accompany your new violin.
1:19 Safe Shipping?

When you purchase a violin from Fiddlershop, you have 45 full days to receive and try your new instrument. Bring it to your violin teacher, and test it out to make sure that the instrument you are getting is the perfect one for you!

This is a good video. You might consider a follow up for anyone wanting to play the violin with any sort of issue (neck issues, shoulder issues, left hand issues, so on). The violin makes a wonderful sound. I find it therapeutic to play and I think others might also find it so. I’m glad to see you encourage people to start.

got a violin from you all on Christmas and i love the way it plays , just kid of wished i got a 5-string after playing it consistently , i really need that low c now lol

Some adults (like me) need a 7/8 size violin.... Shoulder issues make a full-size not doable for me.
