Buying The CHEAPEST BMW R1200GS In The Country!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I buy a dirt cheap BMW R1200GS. Run into lots of problems. Order lots of parts. Cry on the inside a little bit. Snort some brake clean. Eat Some great stuff straight out of the can. Live Life. Think deep thoughts. Forget about everything. Where am I? What is this? Help?

Nice job cleaning the triple, maybe you could clean the bird shit off the instrument cluster while you're at it.

Ì had an R80 GS for 20 years. In all that time all i did was to change the starter motor and a joint on the prop shaft. It was such a simple bike to work on and service, and parts were not do expensive. Now I'm 70, I have a Yamaha SR 400. Apart from fuel jnjection, it has the same simplicity as the R80. Bikes are too complicated these days.
@AgatasKatkus

Amazing bike! I need another r series in my life. They are bulletproof and an absolute joy to ride. I agree many new bikes now are more complex then they need to be. At the end of the day I just want something that allows me to adventure and not something I need special tools to fix😥
Recognize that sound at the end, after an oil change the engine clonks until it builds oil pressure. Didn't realize there was that much complexity "under the hood". Glad i never had to tear mine apart
@AgatasKatkus
Ай бұрын
Yes sir! Most owners of these don’t really need to take them apart as they were pretty dang good. I like buying stuff no one else wants to fix though haha
@YogiFodzn

@@AgatasKatkus Had you prefilled the oilfilter? My 2012 GS takes just a tad longer to build oil pressure after changing and makes absolute zero noises on first startup after prefilling.. just wondering. ;) btw. GSes are pretty fun bikes... like sumo sumos xD

Stoked for you. Just bought the same bike. A little intimidated by getting into that level of disassembly and repair but will have to cross that bridge at some point. Thanks for the video.
Wonderful video! I have a very low mileage 05 1200GS. I've set the valves, changed all the fluids including the final drive and lubed the spline. Love these old bikes.

Weird how time passes. I had a yellow '04 GS (originally owned by the owner of a BMW dealer, so, one of the first R1200GS available) which I bought used for $10K. I rode it for a summer and then up to Alaska, where I sold it for... $10K. The Nav unit on that thing cost a fortune and felt archaic within 5 years because of how fast cellphones were evolving.
@AgatasKatkus

Wow that must’ve been amazing, one day I hope to ride up to Alaska🙏
Ran my old R1200GSA LC over 100.000km. That bike had no issues, only reason it went out was because I bought the 1250GSA. These things eat kms like nothing, she won't let you down. Go have fun!

Hey, I have the exact same 2007 GS. They had a factory recall on the entire fuel pump assembly and rear drive hub. Call your local Dealer and have them run the vin. I bet yours never got the upgrades. All for free. Love my 2007 GS. Best vintage before they got heavy and overly complicated.

I love the confident style of presentation it makes me not to be afraid to diy my bike. Yeah you will sacrifice On-Road performance but what you gain in Off-Road performance is usually worth the sacrifice. My goal is to try and spend more time Off than On. If I was going to ride this bike to work and back I would most likely not choose this tire. Unless maybe I worked on a mountain or something lol.
Do you not need to balance the wheels with the new tyres? Great video I learned a little about BMW's. Never worked on one before.
