Buying & Selling at the Milford, CT Baseball Card Show - Weekend Recap!
Ойын-сауық
Today, I set up at the Milford, CT Baseball Card Show. There wasn't that big of a turnout, but I'm very pleased with the repeated customers that I've sold to many times. It's a nice feeling to have that trust in others. I work hard to maintain that trust and reputation.
While today may not have been a heavily trafficked day, this baseball card show has been solid since I've started setting up. There are other vintage options aside from myself. Chuck is one of the bigger vintage dealers in the area and he has a solid inventory. He will also be setting up at The National.
Ned, the promoter of the baseball card show, also sets up and has a great inventory of 50s commons, stars and hall of famers! Ned has been a dealer for quite some time and has been around since the late 70s!

Hi Sammy. Thank you for sharing the card show footage. I always enjoy watching those video's. Those early Mets yearbooks are awesome. I bet there are some great photo's of Seaver in those.

Thanks Jim. I'll do a separate video on the yearbooks. There are some incredible photos that I don't think get shared often.

I used to do a diff Milford show years back. Always fun. must be nice to be famous and get stuff gifted to you. I have no car, little money and can't even go to shows

That's cool that you used to do a show. What years? I don't think of myself as famous. I appreciate the kindness of Tom and I share that sentiment of gifting others. I'm sorry that you don't have the capabilities to get to shows. At the end of the day, there are more important things than cards.

@@SammyThunder late 80s to around 2010. and a few scattered since. Yes, there are, but when I lost my car, and financial freedom to hit shows and flea/antique markets, it was like a knife to the heart. You are one of the genuine people on KZread also. thank u

Thanks for sharing the show video, nice gifts, generous. I like the yearbooks, great history, stats and photos. I have a Yankees scorebook because Mantle is in the lineup and played.

That's very cool! It's a little eery, but fascinating to be holding a scorecard that someone in the stands filled out that day.

@SammyThunder , I also like the oddball collectibles. I don't have a single Mantle card but have a playing days scorebook with him playing.
Another great job with the show video. I really liked how you paged through the singles of 50’s and 60’s. That Tom Seaver disc that you were gifted is a modern reproduction of Colgans Chips. The discs came in a round package of mints and were from around 1910. That is a great item. Lastly, you are officially an influencer to me. I have purchased a 1959 Bazooka of Bob Turley. Not a HOFer, but I had to get one after I saw yours.

I thought the disc looked familiar. I'm still learning more about the prewar sets as I haven't dabbled too much into them. I'm familiar with the Colgans Chips, but don't know the full backstory. I appreciate you filling in some of the gaps for me. That's cool that you picked up a Bob Turley 59 Bazooka! They look magnificent!
Thanks for taking us to the show, Sammy. You're probably one of the very few dealers who brings vintage basketball, which does help you stand out I think. Because I love the vintage baseball too, but nearly everyone is, selling same thing or similar, so it's good to be a bit different and think out side the box imo. Spoke too soon. @9:30. Lol. I'll tell you though, Sammy the card show I went to. It sadly just didn't really have much of those cards at all. But great video! Congrats on the pickups.

I’m surprised by this. Usually Vintage basketball has always been well represented at a lot of the bigger shows that I go to. Speaking of which, when is the mid Atlantic card show happening next?

@@SammyThunder I think House of Cards is closed on Sundays. So you would have to go on a Saturday. My Dad is scheduled for surgery July 16th or 18th. Assuming he's medically cleared, and passes the physical exams. If I am not around much then, you will know why. Also why I made the in-general comment about taking KZread breaks. And prioritizing the most important things in life. It doesn't just apply to the content creators.

Looks like a cool show - I was curious when buying cards for your collection do you typically buy them raw and then get them graded? or buy them already graded? Perhaps you keep them raw too at times.
@SammyThunder
Ай бұрын
Depends on what it is. I do have a lot of raw cards, but lately, the bigger cards that I have been buying are already graded.

@@SammyThunder ok thanks man - I’ve been collecting memorabilia for 20 years but have started getting back into cards (the first thing I collected as a kid) so was curious how vintage collectors do it. I’ve been focused on building some Philadelphia Eagles team sets and autographed player card runs so far - keep up the great work ✌️
@SammyThunder

@@vintagesportflips Everyone has a unique way of doing it. I wouldn't trust myself in buying raw cards of certain sets. I'm comfortable with a lot of the Topps cards because I see them so often, but when you get into the scarcer stuff, I just don't have as much experience with knowing what to look for with potential counterfeits.
Was Zack Hample there?
