I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well kzread.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.

My rod and reel is $40 and it catches fish that’s all that matters

The only way you make them good is by seasoning them well. Otherwise they are a very mild almost bland flavor but the meat picks up introduced flavors well.

I have $30 spinning combo setups and I also have a$650 baitcast setup. They all catch fish. My expensive setups are more " refined" but they aren't that much better than the cheaper setups . I like them all for different applications.

I stumbled on your channel by accident but love fishing. The reel that you bought is a reel that I am interested in buying as well. I have quite the few Shimano reels and truely love the quality of those reels. I heard nothin but great things about that reel and want to add it to my arsenal of combos that I have. Tight Lines :)

Once you land a Snake-head in Maryland you can't release it. You have to behead it. If the game warden see it in your cooler it fine big time. Have fun with your 500.00 reel. That my sleeper car on Amtrak for some Ft. Lauderdale fishing.

Eh, tackle advisors begs to differ, the micro module gearing in aluminum just goes to crap with in a months worth of fishing if youre ripping in big fish or working high resistance baits. Personally, I feel the bantam mgl is a much better reel, casts good, has brass micro module gearing and it lasts through abuse also doesnt have a crazy price tag thats ment to catch fishermen.

straight braid ? what knot did you do for putting the line on the baitcaster ? and what gear ratio did you get ?

Might make me act up and get this baitcaster because that noise is so satisfying

It’s worth the money I got one last year and I love it. So far I have own three DC model

There is no laws stating that in the state of Florida that is is mandatory to KILL snakeheads. They have thrived and overpopulated our freshwater systems. Whether we like it or not they are here to stay👍🏻
