Ugh thank you for posting this! I am so incredibly frustrated with this process. These companies do not care about the women paying thousands of dollars. They keep the donors interest in mind, not women, and not the kids. It’s so infuriating. I hope things have gotten easier for you in this process.

The company is responsible to do not have too many sperm to ve used across same ethnic group ,town or country even ..... in 80's they run testing of population of London (one aeria) they found out that 8 % of population is from insest without even knowing it . Over decades later it was 25% as kids of this insest kids mixing schools and pubs with other of them cousins .... same thing happen in Arab countries they use if as result of having too many same dna and closerelashion ppl ....its dark secret of Arab world that they have biggest in the world centers for deform and demented kids who nobody don't want . I'm going through the same process with California Cryobank. I was surprised by the limited number of donors I would have to choose from based on my preferences. It came down to about 4 and I just chose one. He has one recessive gene which ended up stalling the whole process with Kaiser because I have to have a phone call with a genetics counselor 🙄 On the surface, it seems like it should be pretty easy, but going through Kaiser has slowed the whole process down. And I agree that the cost of the vials is pretty steep. I got 6 just because I'm anxious the donor I fell in love with will run out. I decided to go with an ID disclosure donor for my child to have that option if they choose. Good luck!! I'm also doing this as a single mom. 🙂

I found my dream donor and pulled 4 vials for about 3K. I like cryo International but it’s a limited selection with donors.

This is where I am. I have somebody in mind. But I don’t want or need him involved in any other way besides donation. And will be drafting up formal paperwork that will terminate his rights. But I can’t say anything for sure until he signs. So I do respect this young man for thinking like this. It is a very thing to think that you have a seed out there that you’re not responsible for it. This is a real man. He will been a great LEGIT father!

Black donors go fast, Cryo let’s you buy 1 vial. I’m going with a fertility clinic because I know chances are slim doing home insemination. And you don’t have to use all of your 1 vial. I didn’t have to send any info to Cryo only my doctor and that was to ship to the clinic. Cryo use to be around $845 per vial. Now it increased again in May.

Thanks for this! I just purchased sperm and I won't be trying til next year. The donor I fell in love with only had one vial so I'm thinking I'll probably have to choose another donor down the line... I'm just going to do at home insemination so the chances for that one vial working seem pretty slim ^^;

I highly recommend getting familiar with tracking your ovulation this year so it helps with those odds! I hope he donates more before your time comes 🙏🏾❤️❤️

I used International Cryogenics and they didn't have one black donor. In fact, all of their donors were International which is the reason for their name. Your first black donor u found may have met his family limit. They only allow so many separate families per donor then they retire the donor after they reach that limit, but keep vials available for siblings of the same family. I like my sperm bank cause they only allow donors in law or medical school or who are already a doctor or lawyer. My donor was already a doctor and come from a family of doctors and all the genetic test was done on his sperm as well. Good luck hun.

Just had the same thing happen to me, found the dream donor and he pulled all of his vials. Super stressed about coordinating this whole thing, being in AK and being told I have to schedule my IUI within 24hrs of a surge just doesn’t seem realistic for shipping. Blah 😪

Yeah that’s definitely hard! If your ovulation date is fairly consistent I say order ahead so it arrives on time. My sperm bank puts enough dry ice in the cryotank to keep it safe for 5 days and more can be added. I recommend trying to get in touch with the lab personnel and asking if something like this could be done.

I donated sperm to a woman I found in an advertisement. I took genetic tests and STS/HIV tests. She did not want the donor to be part of the child's life which I was okay with. After a few donations, she never contacted me again. Just assume she got pregnant. I'm older now, but I would still do it. The only problem is my sperm count is lower now that I'm older.

Thank you for this video. I am trying to find a bank that does not cost an arm and a leg. IUI is already so expensive, having to spend $2000 (two vials) on donor sperm is making it so that I may only be able to try one or two times before I can no longer afford it. If you have any resources or lower cost donor sperm please let me know. Thank you.

Yes a lot of donors have baby photos but that’s not always the case. Some Sperm banks include the baby photo for free while others may require you to pay for them

It all boiled down to ethnicity not being important to me. What’s important is genetic abnormalities and hereditary medical conditions. My donor had perfect family medical background and a good biography so I didn’t feel a need to look anymore. Sometimes you just find The One and know

@@guelbrentwood2469 there simply would not be a name for that portion. If you use a donor but have a partner, they will need to file adoption papers as a second parent and they would go on the second parents line. Birth certificates have the traditional mother and father line but there are alternatives that list up to four parents to be more inclusive for “non-traditional” family makeups than the traditional birth certificate model.

Is your child going to be in contact with your donor’s other children?
