What a feeling that must be!
Я очень рад за тебя! Это действительно отличное приобретение! Обожаю VW T3 Syncro 👍
This thing is sweet! As a CRV owner I’m sad to see you move on. It would be absolutely INSANE if you had Doug Demero review this car!

Congrats! So happy for you! That Subaru 2.2 will give you many many miles of trouble free service! Enjoy! 👍🏼😊
Loved the smile you had once you said, this is my van. Amazing.
What a great video! Brings back so many memories of all the times I bought busses. I had four Vanagons...two of which were syncros. All had the original waterboxer. All needed waterboxer rebuilds. I did it once...to my 2nd Syncro. Got rid of it when it needed the 2nd engine rebuild. Vanagon - best ever up right driving position. I cannot tell you how much I loved those busses!!!!!! I hope you love yours and am so glad you got one which has already had so much work done to it. Love that you got a Subie conversion and a triple knob Syncro!!!! Can't wait to see what you do with it. Best Regards from Boston! PEACE And FUN

That’s awesome! Thank you! Yeah I love this thing. The engine swap was a must for me because I know the stories with the waterboxers haha. The seating position is amazing! That’s something a lot of people don’t talk about.
I love it. I love the 4 wheel drive and its height, you can go anywhere. Also very spacious for 1 person. I travelled round Ireland in the 1980s in a VW camper van (Westfalia) with 2 others, it was a tight squeeze but we had fun!

I spent a lot of time lusting after that Van and daydreaming about driving back up to Alaska to keep my '84 GL company. Looks like it went to a good owner that will really appreciate it, though. If I may offer a tiny bit of advise (which odds are you already know), try not to abuse the transaxle with that extra hp behind it. There are parts in there that are unobtanium and they are mega expensive to rebuild. Anyway, subscribed and look forward to watching your Syncro adventures!
@RileyMonthule
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! You mean you were watching it up for sale? Yeah I've heard that's the weak part of the transmission so I'm being careful with it. Seeing videos of people thrashing these things makes me think it'll hold up to what I put it through haha. Especially because the ej22 is a relatively small powerboost over the stock engine. We'll see though i guess
@ericluebbers4415
Жыл бұрын
As an owner of a 91 syncro the transaxel tends to overheat on long distance and high speed travel. Your best to take backroads and stay off the interstate. After all that’s why you buy an old Volkswagen, to enjoy the ride to wherever your going. Enjoy . Reach out if your ever in Wisconsin.
@RileyMonthule

@@ericluebbers4415 interesting. I’ll have to throw a temp sensor on it and see what it gets to because I do hundreds of miles at a time at 70mph. Thanks for the tip!

Where are you in Alaska. I live in Fairbanks and have a ‘91 Syncro Westie named Amelia.

@RileyMonthule
Жыл бұрын
Thank you!! Yes I’ll hopefully be building it out soon!
Syncro is spelled $yncro. It’s not cheap to own especially once you start to modify it. The transmission is costly to rebuild. At least it doesn’t have the water leaker 2.1. The only advantage to that engine is it’s lower power doesn’t beat the trans as bad.
just an fyi unless your syncro was imported from Europe it did not come with the front diff lock. that was added on by someone.

If it wasa 16" syncro you would be correct lol. Not dissing your van as I have 3 . There not rare at all and saying only a couple for sale in the US is not factual. I watch the market constantly and can find 50 at least for sale at any given time. You can spin it anyway to hipe your channel but us lifers no better.
@RileyMonthule

@@christopherlull7949 nah there were literally only 7 good Syncros in the us for sale when I bought mine. Also there were only 44,000 Syncros ever made and that was almost 40 years ago making it an objectively rare vehicle.

The ones you’ve imported don’t likely end up in states that require emissions equipment. California has some of the toughest emissions regulations. 3 knob syncros are fairly common in Europe and not that uncommon in the US but this particular one is a 3 knob with a Subaru swap (not sure if it’s a smog legal swap).
Congratulations 🎉
