    Hi Martha! Thank you for your question. The buying process with cash is quite easy but the steps and timeframes will depend on each case. Basically, once you find the property you like, and agree upon the price, you are required to pay an amount to start the purchase process. You'll have around one month to check the documents of the property (here I recommend using a lawyer to make sure everything is in good standing) and once everything is confirmed to be in order you will sign the contract and make the payment. The contract needs to be registered and the taxes paid in order to get the title deed onto your name.     Hello! In the DR the annual property tax is 1% of the value of the property. As an individual you have an exempt amount that now is around $160,000, so you will pay 1% on the amount that exceeds the $160,000

    Usually the lawyer that checks the contract is the same that will also transfer the title onto your name, even if we are talking about pre-construction. The total lawyer fees are 1%-1.5% of the value of the property, so in this case you should expect to pay about half of that (or a bit more depending on the actual situation) to check the contract and make all the due diligence regarding the seller and property.
