I would go for a house. U can do a lot of things when u have a backyard. U can have a pool or playground for future kids or garden where u can relax and have a cup of coffee

I hope that you will give Wil good and sound advice on why buying a house is way so much better than buying a condo...his mom's advice is unwise if her reasoning is simply because of Wil's laziness to keep the place in order....

Condo is actually more of an eco-friendly choice. Just imagine the fuel saved from a garbage truck going around a sprawling village versus picking it up from a garbage room of a building. I'd personally push for vertical development over a sprawling one. Condos also allow living within walkable distance to the mall, parks, & offices. If you buy a house and lot in the nearby provinces and your work is in MM you will need to travel by car everyday which is not good for the environment.

House and lot over condo is what mostly people like to invest in this time where earthquakes are so frequent right now

Buying a house is future proofing because when you have a family, your kids will have playground, your backyard. Sure it is a lot of work, (mura lang naman magpamow ng lawn sa Pinas) but it’s worth it coz you have a lot of freedom. With condo, you are only technically paying the right to live but not really owning the space per say. At pag nagkaroon ng Earthquake (God forbid) at nadamage ang building, say goodbye to your millions, coz they won’t pay you. Just my two cents,hehe! Peace Mudra! Love you😍🥰

In the Philippines where lots are still relatively cheaper, you can buy a house double the size of that condo with almost half the prize.

Advantage of condo is the security, generator in case of power outages, amenities and flood free. Disadvantages, expensive monthly dues, lack of outdoor space and you have to buy a parking slot for each car (depends on how many cars you have). And finally your electric bill is higher since your ac will be on most of the time compared to a house you just open the windows. Try McKinley hills of Megaworld.

And yet I would still buy a condo in Manila area because the resale value of homes is very low. Not an easy decision.

I would say a house having a house would be a lifetime investment and your future children could also live on it

To each their own. Some people would want a condo than a house. So let’s just let them be. Happy for you Will! ❤️

I'm for team House. A building's structural integrity is only good for 50 years. At least when you buy a house, the lot it stands on is also yours. if you're still alive after 50 years, your kid's can demolish the house and build a newer and much stronger house.

I live in BGC for more than 10 years now and I think I know exactly where this building is. I won't invest in that apartment if I were you, Wil. Your mom is right, look around some more.

been in the industry for more than 20 years and had been involved in high rise/high end projects. i do always recommend buying a house - the structure deteriorates/depreciates but not the land. in condos, what does your unit costs after 10/15 years? unless you are into buying and selling wherein you can still gain in a few years (5?) after buying it :)

Mudra knows what she’s talking about. It’s filipino mentality to buy a house you can pass down to your children but it’s a lot of work.

I think the 75m estimation of austria is right. Maybe Vice's house can reach 100 m if it is located in one of the premiere subdivisions like ayala alabang, green meadows and other A- to A subdivisions...

House's can depreciate just as easy as it can appreciate. You don't really own a house till after the term of the loan, unless you pay upfront in cash the full price. IDK what you mean by condo, it’s not yours really after 50 yrs. You do not have neighborhood association fees there? condo dues are the for upkeep and maintenance. This cost is shared by all. You are responsible for all that with a house plus any association fees with a house. The point being there are pros and cons to both. Really it comes down to, what are your plans in the future. Married with kids, then a house makes sense. If not I would consider a condo seriously.

50-90M is already a huge house

House and lot is better compared to having a condo. 1st, the prices of house and lot never depreciate and it's the other around to condos. 2nd, you can do what you want and there's no maintainance or utility fee for life unlike condo. 3rd, you can renovate and make it into a bigger space or if you want to add more rooms or space by adding floors or extensions.

I kind of understand where mudra is coming from. House maintenance is expensive and time consuming. There are pros and cons. With condos it's not a forever home but it's a lot more convenient. Security, accessibility, common area maintenance. At the end of the day, you have to determine what's best for you, your lifestyle and budget.

Investment wise house and lot will appreciate its value more compared to a condo unit. Just our two cents. Good Luck!

@ri jung hyuk please do not patronize me. decision making is part of growing up but having a house doesn’t necessarily mean maturity. it’s privilege. some people arent as privileged to afford owning a house but are still mature enough for big decision making. All I’m getting at is that having a house does not necessarily measure someone’s maturity level. Sometimes privilege takes part in that and the opportunities one has been given. To say that having a house is for mature people negates the fact and invalidates other people who are “mature” but cannot afford having a house. Especially in this economy.
