Good to see some of the younger generation know what hard work can get you . Some of these young kids think life is free. They got "corner time" instead of getting what they needed,a belt across the ass.
You have impressive skills. I was up at 3am and started watching this. Couldnt sleep and got fascinated by a hydrostatic drive being repaired. Called a couple of times no answer. My number ends in 28.

Hey my friend I’m always happy to see you here!!🙂🙂 lol I have trouble sleeping myself, I’ll have to look back in my phone, I get so many telemarketer calls so I usually don’t answer out of state calls next time leave a message and I’ll call u back, however my phone service is really bad if I’m down at the shed the phone only gets texts (sometimes)

Those hours are NOT the REAL hours!
That mis-aligned bushing was definitely the main problem with your hydrostatic drive, but I suspect that the brakes were dragging also because the pivot was so seized! You are simply masterful with all your repairs!

yes you are correct🙂👍
You are one of the best mechanics on KZread and I am not kidding. I will pray that your health gets better. When ya'll got that dump truck I thought before you did it, it was an exercise in futility to weld the tip back on that brake holding pin. I am sure wrecking yards have lots of those pins holding in drum brakes, but you pulled it off. Kudos to you for your ability. The design on this trans was poorly done and conceived and methods of holding those ports for correct flow seems to me to be knurling the shaft with a hammer and center punch, or after cleaning it with brake cleaner to put red locktite on the silly thing. I will pray for your good health.

I would love to hear more ideas from you this is a terrible design
Nice fix on the hydrostatic trans. I had a similar issue where the bushing was covering the holes. I pressed it out and added some loctite & pressed it back in. It's been going strong for 7 years now!

Now that’s a good save! It must be a kubota thing to have all the hinges / linkages rust up. Lol! Mine didn’t have a smooth moving part on it when I saved it from the junkyard.

lol yea sitting will do that
I bought and refurbished mine 3 years ago. It's a 1995 w/750hrs. The universal joints on the transaxle driveshaft were shot. It's been awesome ever since. I prefer this to any new one today. Built to last with good maintenance.

This thing just screams lawn tractor pull. A little turbo, stack out the hood, solid axle swap. Pretty cool.

dude, that would be so awesome. However, there’s no way this transaxle good hold up to that I would have to swap it out with a more heavy duty rear end.
Thanks for posting this video. I just picked one of these up, while I didnt have the hydrostat issue (yet) the teardown and reassembly of the parts of the mower was helpful to watch it done for future use. I just got a workshop manual for it, so this video combined with that I feel confident I can tear into it if needed. Its absolutely a cool and unique mower and im super happy to have it.
I certainly enjoy these projects you take on. I love seeing what someone has decided is no good being made fine again..

I've got my grandfather's T1600 that he bought new in around 1990. First piece of equipment i learned to operate. I remember long summers of cutting grass at his rental properties on it as a kid. Was still using it the cut the grass at my own house until two years ago when the transaxle started leaking badly. That particular Eaton is a known lemon (I've got the same one) but they changed it out for an upgraded model on the later machines. There's a serial number break in the service manual that talks about it. Anyways, I was just holding onto it to have the engine for an undetermined future project, but seeing one run again tempts me to put it back in service as a mower. Great memories if nothing else. Keep up the great work!
Great job rehabbing the Kubota! That brake pivot shaft was crying out for a grease fitting.

29:46 im betting the vibration from that bad ujoint may have caused the cracking in the deck, thing literally vibrated itself to pieces. Also, that front ujoint should have either a pin you depress or a tapered bolt you dtive out to remove the shaft from the output on the mower, that way you don't have the shaft hanging down
