BUYING 15 ITEMS IN A YEAR CHALLENGE (halftime)| I already went overboard...
6 months of my "buying 15 items only in 2023" challenge have passed, so it is time to do a little half-time check-in. I like to do a no-buy or low-buy challenge every year, and this year I wanted to challenge myself a little. So far I have bought quite a few items, but I am confident in myself that I can make it with a little extra willpower! How has your low/ no buy challenge been so far?

This is a great idea. I think if I start writing down what I buy it will be a slap in the face and I’ll realise I buy way more than I think I do 😅 I find it hard to stick to only buying necessary things and living more internationally in todays world but it’s a journey and it has helped me loads to be more appreciative and cherish what life has given me. Love that you’re sharing it all with us ❤️ xx

yes, it definitely is a journey. And it's all about baby steps. and plus, it's when we make "mistakes" that we learn :)
I really like these types of videos! Lots of self reflection.

I’ve tried no buy year in 2021, it was a huge failure! After being same size for over 10 years 2021 was the year I went full size up, meaning most of my clothes did not fit me anymore and even if I managed to wear some of them they made me feel awful. Had to buy new items, but hated the new image of myself. Overall it was a disaster! Reflecting on my failure, I began to record all new purchases while also working on regaining my previous body weight. I was surprised to discover, that I only bought 2 items per month over past 6months without even trying. Encouraged by it, I’ve decided to make 2024 my low buy year. My intention is to buy only 1 item per month. Starts now. Wish me luck 😉😊😊

you can do it!
I need to start tracking more accurately just to see how much I buy.. cuz I buy less than before but feel like I keep thinking it’s k n justifying it . Physical writing might help

yes! It's surprising how much we buy, when we think it's very little. So it's really helpful having it black on white :)

What does the perfume smell like?

it smells flowery, citrusy, peppery- a very fresh scent. The official notes are: bergamot, jasmin and amber :)
I did like the announced concept of buying less stuff and actually think twice before perchusing somethig. Yet, I think it's cheating to buy a thing and say that "it doesn't count" because it's an art supply or a replacement, or a second-hand thing, or a beauty product. As far as I understood the concept of the challenge, the idea is to reduce your spending. Thus, if you spend your money on something, you should count it. Otherwise, it's more like fooling yourself. Setting up a rule when you can only purchase 15 new things throughout a year might be quite a harsh goal for someone, and a bit unrealistic too. It's nice to stick to an experiment like this to face the reality about yourself and collect some objective data about your habbits and sopping patterns, though. In this video, it felt like the author didn't want to count some items in order to keep the total number of purchased things below the desirable number. But why is it so important to buy 15 goods or less? And who set the number? To my opinion, this challenge might have a healthier version. Maybe, it's enough already if you bring awareness to the shopping, notice your impulses and emotions when spending money, and make it a more mindful and thoughtful process in general. It will naturally lead to a more careful money-spending. I did like the idea of having a list of non-bought things as a way of self-motivation, but you have to be careful with rosters like this. Also, you can set a specific goal for a certain category of your monthly expenses. To me, it sounds less stressful than limiting your yearly purchasing with 15 items total.

It depends on the reason for doing the challenge what your personal rules are. If the main goal is to not bring new things into your life, but you want to give yourself some leeway, the 'fifteen unnecessary, personal items maximum' sounds alright.

yes, my goal was to bring in less amounts of things. I defind "rules" and guidelines as to what will fall into those 15 items. I talked about that in the beginning of the video :)
