Buying 10kt really worth it?!

Ойын-сауық

I know I made a video similar to this one a while back but I still get the same questions regarding 10kt. With so many new subscribers, I feel I have to make another video. I do think these types of videos really help people out. Again, nothing against 10KT gold I just want to lay the facts out.

    I paid $1100 for a 10k Franco chain, about 5/6mm 30” diamond cut. I had it for ten years now, and wear it pretty often. No change in the color over time. It is darker when it hasn’t been cleaned in awhile, like any other gold purity. I love 10kt because it’s more durable than 14k, because it’s harder, which is not discussed in the video. Good info otherwise.

    10k is great to start with, especially if you want to have a sturdy piece that will stand up to wear and tear. Not to mention the amount of different pieces you'll be able to cop for different looks at a cheaper price point. If you got the money to spend on the higher purity go for it! But there are pros and cons for everything. Wether it be 10k, 14k, 18k etc. Be happy and confident with what you have knowing your wearing something real as well as something of value. When you have the finances and opportunity, build up to what you would like to have!

    I have worn a 10K chain that belonged to my grandfather. I have worn it every day for over 20 years, I sleep with it on, I shower and swim with it on, I sweat heavily with it on. My grandfather also obviously wore it for many years (20 to 30 years). It still looks brand new with zero corrosion and zero tarnish, it does not cause me any allergic reaction, which is something I get from sterling silver. I believe if it is good quality 10K gold, mixed with the correct metals (minimal nickel and copper), it will last a lifetime. I would say the main issue is whether this is an investment in the gold, or something you want to wear because it looks good and you like it. I do see the draw towards the more pure gold because the colour is much more intense. I also love how all my 10k rings and chains hardly have a scratch, while my 14K stuff does have many more noticeable scratches.

I have a few 24k jewelry and they tend to get ugly in color, change over time and just look sometimes orange color even after cleaning and polishing but with my 10k jewelry I just use hot water, baking soda and dish soap to make it look gold again, shiny and looks good also it doesn't change over time and little scuff marks etc are easier to get rid of at home. I just like 10k due to the color and it brings out a lot of contrast making it more noticeable.

    I bought a vintage 10k Cuban chain bracelet a while ago and it is still absolutely beautiful! I like that the gold is slightly paler because it suits my skin tone better, and I like that it is more sturdy than 14k or 18k. I am hard on my jewelry and I want it to be as sturdy as it can be. I also like that it is a bit less pricey because, since I am hard on my jewelry, if I somehow break it beyond repair, I will not be losing as much cash.

    the purity doesnt neccessarily mean stronger, you could have a 10k hollow chain or 14k hollow chain , and its still weaker than a solid piece in 10-14k, honestly, i like the shine of 10k more it stays clean longer and holds its shine longer than other carats that need more maintenance, i have both 10k and 14k chains, me personally i think the 10k hits harder than the 14k it looks a little dull at times? but i still agree with u on what you meant

  • @bestblackoutvideos

    @@SharkByteOfficial depending on how heavy your chain is, being 24k, it holds its weight the best,i would not slam it around, it definitely will dent, and scratch, it wont necessarily break, but COULD leave some noticeable damage compared to 10-14-18k,......... 24k is very malleable ,and soft.(relatively),STILL VERY HEAVY! i would not recommend getting any chain in 24k, because it is just too heavy, it is way heavier on the neck, a little bit uncomfortable, like a huge weight, be better off with 18k, if your going for purity, weight, but hey, it doesnt matter everybody has a preference, its all pretty durable if solid and not hollow, 10k is probably the most durable, less malleable, and does not FADE, even though it has less than half gold purity weight, it will never tarnish its still gold.

  • @SharkByteOfficial

    @SharkByteOfficial

    @@bestblackoutvideos its not as maleable as they make it seem, trust me. I even work with pure metals only. The dents would be very very minor and unnoticed and if anything add shine. Metal is never soft. I have seen 60 year old pure pieces with almost no damage. Yes the weight can be there if you get grams on grams of it, but why would you waste money on a poor investment like 18k, 14k, or 10k if you want a nice piece. Especially if it comes marked up so much that you would have to wait 20 years before you could even get a couple dollars back on resell or remelt from the low percentages of gold and weight. Theyre honestly just poor excuses made by big jewelry businesses to be able to sell people more lower quality pieces off of the same original weight from the pure ones. Not to mention 10k, 14k dont even look like gold in reality. They look like fake gold, in fact theyre so difficult to tell from fake jewelry at times.

    I have 10K gold, 14K gold and 18K gold jewellery pieces. Any gold jewellery could slightly turnish over time regardless of the gold percentage. Even if it turnished slightly over the years, it is so easy to clean it to restore the shine, so it really all comes down to what you can afford and prefer. I personally prefer 14K and 18K gold, but not because 10K gold jewellery would not last. It is because I like the richer colour of 14K and 18K yellow gold.

    You're leaving out a MAJOR fact! A 14k piece of jewelry that's the EXACT SAME size and dimensions of a 10k piece will weigh much more done in 14k! So not only will you pay $7 more per gram, there will be more grams to pay for. The price difference is much larger than you are making it seem. Considering both 10k and 14k are identical in appearance...yet, the surface of the 10k piece is more scratch resistant...it may make sense to go with 10k more times then not.

But we don't see people with 24kt pieces. Cause it's too,soft it can't hold a shape. Now are we talking hollow or solid?? Cause I can go to my nearest trade center and get a buklshit 10k or 14 k hollow chain let's say 24 in 7 or 8 mm say 25 30 grams. For who knows $700 800. That shit will turn on you faster than a snitch in court. But a solid 10k or 14k. You're looking at $2500 and up. 22 in 24in. 50 60 grams. So next time you see someone with a chain and they claim it's 14k. But your shit look way better. Now you know why. Real talk.

    Nice video first of all....It is important to be confident in your preference in gold karat purchases.....I've owed 10 14 and 18kt gold...I've been wearing gold since a child and I'm now in my mid 40s and my preference is 10kt because of the durability...10kt doesn't scratch as easy when putting charms on it....14 and 18 are softer but less pure which is cool only in the resale market....I've owned a 10kt white gold 3mm solid franco with a 2 1/2 inch 3kt diamond cross for 18 years and it hasn't lost any luster at all....plus its 36 inches long so it tends to hit up against things when I bend down...its still beautiful and I still love my chain

    I have more gold than two jewelry stores combined and most of my gold is 18k or 22k solid heavy solid pieces!! I keep most of it in the bank safe deposit box!! Therefore, my purpose of buying 10k is because I love the design of the piece, it’s a real bargain and I have enough gold! Also, the price is just right! It is sturdy enough to wear thru any sport. Your statement about 10k changing colour or tarnishing tells me about the lack of knowledge of 10k. Also, did you know that you don’t get much more if you go to sell a 10k piece or a 14k piece of jewelry!! Please don’t mislead people.

    What this video leaves out: 1) For other jewelry (think hands) you really NEED 10k 2) ALL Gold is manufactured differently so various chains look slightly brighter or darker 3) Yellow/white/rose use completely different materials and will not wear/age the same. Conclusion: High end gold that's scratched and dented - not a good look.. Spend less look better!! win and win.

    I own 10k and 14k gold (as well as 18k, platinum, & silver). Everything has held up well. The return value was the same. The quality is the same. I've never had a 10k item turn black or change colors. I even own a 9k ring and it has never changed colors. My opinion, any gold item will hold up and last IF YOU TAKE CARE OF IT. Even silver will not tarnish if stored properly. Can real gold turn skin green? Yes it can! That's due to the acid on skin interacting with the gold. That doesn't mean the gold is fake and it doesn't mean it doesn't have enough gold content. My opinion, buy what you like and take care of it. Most jewelry stores don't sell by gram weight so you're overpaying anyways.

  • @Boudell

    @Boudell

    Really the only reason why your real gold chain will turn your skin green is if it was mixed with nickel. If your jeweler mixes any of his jewelry with nickel. Then you need to switch jewelers, because he is a horrible cheap jeweler.

    @@dannygreen5477 that's not true, if your gold is mixed with copper or nickel, and you are allergic to copper or nickel, then your skin can turn green or black depending on how bad your allergic to copper or nickel. Most people that think they have a "gold" allergy are actually experiencing a reaction to the nickel in 10K yellow (and some white golds). That is not totally true. You need to stop going to Jewelers that mix their gold with nickel, and go to a good jeweler that mixes with platinum, palladium or silver instead. Then you wont have to worry about allergic reactions to nickel mixed jeweler. A bad jeweler will even mix 18k with nickel as well.

    I've got 2 10kt chains that I wear daily. I went with 10kt because it's supposedly more durable and I'm seriously rough on jewelry. I'd like to get 14kt but is it honestly as strong?

    Chris Starling if I get a 10k silver ring? Will it last forever bruh? I'm scared. I'm just about to order a beautiful 10k pinky ring for $500. Can I shower and eat with it on? I have jewelry cleaner

    I wear a 24k pinky ring. It gets beaten up a bit but it has a nice worn look to it. 14k is very durable. Even 18k is pretty durable.

    You really changed my perspective I was always saying if you don’t got much cash 10k is more bang for the buck but yeah I totally agree 14k will look the same over a longer period of time.

    Maybe I’m crazy but I actually prefer the lighter gold color of 10k. I don’t really like super shiny yellow gold.

    This was the first video i ever watched. Thought i wanted a 10k necklace. After doing research i had to go with the 14k necklaces from Braden of course. Now im going to get a pamp pendant and a rose rope chain for my mom.
