Thank you for showing me some emergency prep ideas! I live on the coast of Texas, where hurricane Beryl is about to hit. I have prepared as much as I can today, cleaning up my yard and making sure nothing is loose. Tomorrow morning, I will pack my car and pray my home is here when I return! Thank you for all of your suggestions!

Sometimes it's easier to buy paper and plastic. I totally get it. Sometimes we are very busy and much easier to throw things away. I understand your concern for the landfill.

Hi Linna! Yes, it is good to have an emergency box prepared, but I hope that you don't forget to put away also water, first aid kit and some vitamins. And also a helping way to not waste food, if you stick a paper on the two box with the expiration date. 🤗 best regards!
I had to laugh after husband bought the expensive massager & then you said good bye husband (before he could buy anything more! Lol). I loved your pantry haul. I have to admit, I get disposable plates now & then during summer months! Sometimes the heat just makes you tired. Your simple dinner turned into a banquet! K definitely loves his food. I love it! Thx for sharing!
Your boys are always so appreciative of everything you make for them to eat. It's always so nice to see, Linna. Thank you so much for sharing & Blessings to you all♥
Hi Linna, I also stock up on food, all kinds of things, and, i've done it for years. Big city, and now tiny town. Stocking up makes life more convenient also. It's a wise thing to do. I hope you enjoy your new massager! Thank you! Karen Yarnell, AZ USA
For easy overview of dates/year - I would put a label on the shelf (the front you see when opening the pantry) or the container and put the items that expire in the year closest to now in the front of the container...Just my idea of what i would do :)
Hi Linna, You didn't have to discard the rice items. Rice, pasta, and other dried goods will remain good after their best before date. They have to put a date on everything because it's the law. But dried goods can be used long after the date has passed. The taste can become a bit less, but that's all. Same with spices who have a best before date. You can still use them after that date. Only fresh goods like meat and dairy (except yoghurt) need to be used before the best before date. If you have yoghurt, it will become thicker and sometimes a bit more sour, but you can still eat it without any problem.
Don't forget to store water with your food storage. You'll need it to cook your dried food.
That rice is still good! Don’t rely on expiration dates for dried foods such as rice and pasta.
Here in England its rainy season all year round! 😂
Здравствуйте Линна 🌹 Спасибо за видео 😊❤
Thank you so much for posting the video I appreciate it more than you will ever know. Just got out of hospital and I hurt and I’m bored this made my day ❤ God Bless you all 🙏🏻🥰
Another lovely vlog. I love how you say how pleased you were your family enjoyed such a simple dinner, when as always, you’d still put so much thought and work into making them a lovely meal
I too do small, but useful stock ups in case of a hurricane or snow storm or a water disruption situation. We recently experienced an earthquake and some tornadoes which is very rare where I live the U.S., but it's good to be prepared for life's craziness. I really should purchase a small butane stove like you have. It's a smart back up for power outages. Great video!
I love hydrangea season!!! I know it's rainy and gloomy and hot outside but these flowers just cheer me up. They have such great skincare devices in Japan, but when I have to charge them by plugging it in to an electric outlet I have a problem; here in the Netherlands we have a much higher voltage then in Japan (230V instead of I think it is 110V in Japan) so I have a problem charging them here. I need one on batteries, or perhaps usb so I can charge with my computer. I think with the dry rice it is and at least good before date, so I would use them up now. I still have something similar I bought during the pandemic and I'm making that now for lunch or something. As long as it's stored dry and dark it's usually okay. I also in the future want to make a list an put it in my datebook so I can know when to use things up. Otherwise I forget. Matcha and espresso pudding sounds great! I wonder with so much kamaboko, would it be great to make a tempura ten don with it. That onigiri mold is so handy; I have one that just makes 1 at the time.... great for a bento for my daughter but not for dinner or lunch for the whole family.
What a great purchase! I bought something similar a few years ago for my husband for Christmas. Everyone in my family, including myself have used it, especially when I come home from work ( I’m a carer in a retirement home). That and a nice soak in the bathtub with lavender essential oil Epsom salts, are perfect for sore muscles. I too, have a pantry with both dried goods and cans of fruit, in case of emergencies. As usual your meals look tasty and well presented.
Hi Linna! It is great that you are preparing for bad weather and natural disasters. My family also has to do the same here for tornado season. It is somewhat rare that a tornado hits the area, but it has happened before, and it is very scary. We mostly stock up on canned foods since they are much easier to eat, and cheaper in some cases. We have plenty of dry food and canned food for my cat, as well as an extra carrier in case we can't get to her normal carrier and a reusable litter box and litter. We also have two first aid kits (I am first aid certified, so I have an extra one to help others if it is needed) and plenty of water and dissolvable powder drinks like lemonade, energy and caffeine drinks, and vitamin drinks. The head massager is so cool! It certainly looks like it is worth what you paid for it. I hope it is useful and helps relieve aches and pains! It is a little scary though haha, I would be scared it would hurt me. Best wishes to you and your family. Please continue to stay safe!
We are in Hurricane Alley here and it has already started. The husband says expiration dates on dried foodstuffs is a suggestion. As long as the package remains intact and not opened, it is good. I need to get one of the stoves with canned cooking gas. Brilliant.
I just read an article on nhk easy this week, that it is also important in Japan to have an emergency toilet for disasters, such things can't be bought in Switzerland 😮 But thankfully there won't be any "big" natural disaster in Switzerland...
That is a very good idea, I should do something similar. I hope you all stay safe and don’t need to use emergency food, but it’s always good to be prepared!
Sometimes simple dinners are the best!❤
Knew stocking up in Japan is a must
Thank you for sharing a bit of your life. God bless.
I am watching your Saturday video very late today as I spent the day with one of our granddaughters. Once a month a grocery store in our town puts on offer goods from other countries and next week it is food from Japan. I am going to try some of the food from your country and then tell you which I liked and which I didn't like. Best wishes from Northern Ireland.
When you showed the head massager in the beginning it really gave me the ick 😅 Looks like some out of control sea creature 😂
Thank you for the wonderful video.
Our first hurricane of the season hits tonight. I too know the importance of stocking up for this time of year.
Hello Linna! Greetings from Athens, Greece!!❤❤❤❤
Good sharing 👍🥰
We looked at that massager today in yodabashi camera, but it looked too strange. So I went for a new camera instead. I love disaster prepping we have the yellow box by the door so we can do an emergency evacuation if needed. It has everything for our family.
Thank you very much for the video👏👏👏👏
Hi Linna,,I'm very glad to watch your video now on a Saturday night. It's great to see it. Yocheved Mendelson ❤❤
So many options of food 😮
S and K are getting so big 🥰❤️
Very good idea to have a big emergency stock of food along with other emergency items. Ive been doing that here in the US for the last 5 years. And most canned and packaged things last far beyond their so called " expiration date".

@londonlady227 we get earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, fkoods , black outs from power grid overloads etc. In the summer heat it can get well over 100 degrees farenheit where I live in the United States. Our country is very large and so many natural disasters that it's kind of shocking. Where do you live that you are assured no such things occur?

Miso has a salty taste, and it’s difficult to describe other than that, but it’s delicious ❤ Darker miso like red are fermented longer so they have a saltier flavor, whereas white miso is a little lighter and sweeter. Both can make soups and be used as a flavoring, definitely try them out! ❤

As someone in the USA I highly recommend trying miso. There is such a wonderful umami flavor to it. The lighter one is milder and gets stronger with the darker it gets. There are so many recipes this can be added to that enhance flavor.

Some things do need To be thrown away if expired that is why there are dates put on food to tell someone to disregard those dates can be dangerous for some people. You do you and let linna do what she feels is right for her family
That massager look like a mad mushroom
I have a bag on spaghetti “on” hand
Hi Linna, why emergency food? You get typhoons in the rainy season ? Love to you all x

you don't take notice of the expiry dates they only put that on there cause they got to an u use it up before the date so u spend more money my great gran parents didn't have dates they did taste sniff test tin food can last up to 10 years on the shelf stored right even dry food

Why don’t you put the disaster food in bags in case you need to evacuate and carry them ?
Hi Linna love your videos just a thought rather than buy all the disposable plates bowls glasses etc then they stay on a land full site for a 100 years why not use watered down white vinegar to clean plates etc you just spray the item then wipe it perfectly sanitises without using water people who live in their cars use this it's hygienic and safe and cuts the rubbish down xx

Plus In Japan the water and electricity can go out for days and houses just collapse like a deck of cards like they are meant to. So do your research. Before commenting on a country you know nothing about its natural disasters and what happens after them.
