OK so I’ve not seen $5 a year for a domain, where do you find that??? It’s often $20 every year.

I think it just the registrar out there is so expensive

some people are just getting started and costs can add up really quickly , a paid domain requires a paid hosting service and a paid SMTP server, just because you are sponsored by some domain registrar, don't make people think they need and have to, even google itself said it doesn't mind a sub-domain for a portfolio as long as it shows your skills

Making users pay for subscriptions rather than 1 time purchases no matter the price is horrible.

But you still need to pay for hosting. Unless you’re using a redirect, but it’ll still show the free site

It’s not 5 dollars, they advertize it as that but after your first month it becomes waaaaay more expensive.
