I would have watched this beautiful video that shows off that stunning cardie! I'm in love with it!!! Those cables and a work of art. It took me awhile since I was knitting the Creery sweater for my sister. One memory that I hold dear and sacred is when my mother came to my 2nd grade class and brought my brand new baby sister (the same one as the sweater I'm making) and I felt pride, joy, and a deep bond to my family. We are tighter than ever since our mother passed 6 years ago. I'll never forget that feeling and the feeling of accomplishment when I knit or crochet a pattern from you and your master designers. Thank you for making my life so enriched and sacred. Love and hugs!

There have been many special moments and memories to cling to as we’ve traveled this amazing country but one from my childhood is especially strong. When we would travel to see my grandmother we would come in from there top of a mountain. Even though I never lived there, it always felt in my heart like “coming home” when the scene of the valley and the town came into view. 💕

Beautiful cardigan, thank you for sharing it with us. I'm always learning something new here and I love it 😊. So many memories I have, of places, friends, family. The ones I love the most are hearing my kids crying when born, the first time finally seeing them, hugging them and seeing my parents with a happy Sparkl in their eyes and the traveling. My mom installed in us that we have to know our own country, your home, before exploring the world and every weekend we'll be traveling, north, south, east and west. I think we got to know every hill and creek, lakes, beaches, forests and of course the desert in my home country. I have great parents and my hope is that my kids will have the same feelings towards us when they grow older. Thank you Chandi 💞

I love this sweater! Such a sweet name, too -rubato. A memory I have is laying on the floor under my mom's sewing machine as she sewed. I would get up and watch the fabric feed through, and that is how I learned to sew! Just by watching her hands, how she adjusted and turned the fabric, the sound of the pedal starting and stopping. She never really taught me and had me practice much, but then when I had a daughter, I had fun making her tiny baby skirts and dresses, aprons, and now matching clothes for us and even for my 2 girls now. ❤️ And - how amazing that you know piano too! You are very talented!

Wow! This is definitely one I'll want to add to my wardrobe. A memory... there's the first time I saw the arches in Utah, or the Oregon coast, or the Glaciers in Montana. Or the first time I held my hedgehog (she did NOT like me at the time, but now all she ever wants is to snuggle in my shirt). Meeting my first friend in school as a kid (and we're still friends 28 years later!)

Hello beautiful Chandi… Yesterday was one of those times you spoke of. A very short version… My daughter suffered from depression & self harm through her high school years which also lead to her being “Baker Acted” . Anyway last year she graduated high school with the mindset that she would never want to go to college. Ever. Fast forward a year later & she is thriving; so much in fact she graduated a small college as a dental assistant!!!❤❤❤❤ yesterday was her pinning ceremony which was a great moment in her life and we celebrated with her. I simply did not want the day to end! I will remember it always. ❤❤❤❤❤

What a beautiful cardigan! I'm definitely adding this to my list of EFA designs to make! Also, I just love listening to your memories, especially the ones from growing up in Alaska. You have a way of relating them that whisks me off with them to times and places that sound so wonderful. Thank you. A memory I cherish is from the last time I was home with my folks (feels like forever ago now). As my Mom sat knitting, she listened as I read to her from the book To Knit or Not to Knit (a wonderful little book full of funny and touching stories with knitting at the centre of them). We laughed together, cried together, shared memories of days gone by, and built innumerable memories throughout the many sometimes gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking and all to relatable stories in the book. The common thread throughout the book was the connections we make to those we love through knitting and the unbreakable bonds that form as you spend the hours of your life developing them through a shared love of the craft. After one particularly moving story with that theme, which I could barely get though for the tears, we both stopped -- Mom resting her knitting on her lap and, I, the book -- and realised that this is what we were doing. Right there, in my parents living room. Mom knitting while I read to her about knitting. Both of us stopping occasionally to chat about new ideas or progress we were making on various projects -- or new things we wanted to try or learn. Like the mighty rush of a wave, the weight of that realisation overwhelmed us both. I took a metal photograph of that moment, which seemed so perfectly to encapsulate all the memories we'd made before and all those to come, and it is a memory -- rich and full of so much more than that moment -- that I'll hold onto for all my days.

I remember as well that my grandmother told me to wrap the thread around the button to raise it up. Normally I do button bands with crochet because it is WAY easier... I am often finishing off my knitted pieces with crocheted lace borders as well. But I think I will try those buttonholes in my next project. 😊

Hi Chandi. This is such a beautiful cardigan. Thanks to Emma for her lovely design. This video evokes 2 memories for me. When my parents took us to Hawaii, outside of the glass sliding doors a little way off was a beautiful circular inlet that went out to the ocean. One night I was outside looking at the inlet and the palm trees were on the right side were bending over the water. The moon was magnificent that night, high in the sky and reflecting on the water. It was breathtaking and I’ve never forgotten that precious moment. It was either in Kauai or Maui. I can’t remember which but my thought is Kauai. My sister has the album so I’ll have to look the next time I see her. The other memory is my mom’s button basket. It was circular I’d say about 8 inches in diameter with a cover. Brown tones. She must have gotten rid of it when they moved but I remember it from my childhood. Great memories. Thanks for reminding me today to reminisce. And thank you for another great tutorial! Have a wonderful weekend!❤️❤️

Not only do I get to be surrounded by glorious yarns in a beautiful Catskills setting but I also get to see all the folks who are modeling their latest fiber creations. We’ve moved from that area, but I still have commemorative sweatshirts that I’ve collected over my years of attending to remind me of that special festival!
