They’re an actual design used for cakes, it’s not ‘half-assed’ it’s a real technique

Imagine paying a shit ton of money and getting 2 hours of rushed work resulting in some thumbprints and butterflies

They gave me all the creativity that I wanted so I smacked some preprinted butterflies on it and called it a day lmao the artistry 😅

My former art professor would’ve said, “you could’ve done this in the elevator.” It’s mostly stick-on-decorations rather than skill.

As a confectioner myself i would say its a nice idea pretty colours, but you have a big heavy cake on a thin board with no edge design, it doesnt look right, you have a bare metal pole and an uncovered base on top of your 2nd tier, absolute no no!!, you could have disguised this with a fresh or icing flower display of some sort, if you are going for such a bare design then the covering has to be perfect whereas your dust effect accentuated the uneven surface, i think you could have done so much better having 3hours to work on it, plus there was a bit of a cardboard overkill with the butterflies, sorry but you can tell it was rushed, i can't actually believe that this took you nearly 2 hours!! A wedding is such an important event there is no room for mistakes like getting the day wrong, the cake is an extremely important feature like the dress, the suit, the flowers etc you get one wrong , you ruin the brides life because theres no do over and she will never let it go,I really hope she liked it though and you didnt charge her too much!! Sorry to be harsh but i am a 40 year veteran and i have rescued so many devastated brides with their cakes due to accident or it wasnt what they wanted or expected etc, this is definitely a design you can run with but unfortunately you can tell you worked with the time you had and the tiktok you where making rather than the actual cake!! 😊

Cake designs depends on the customer unless they ask you to surprise them or something. And the deco is pretty cute and minimalist, hopefully the price as well.

Those butterflies winding up to the top are fantastic - the actual decorating portion could have been so much better. A simple border with edible pearls or glitter, piped flowers, or soft pink marbling would have made this cake so much nicer.

I thought you would make little flowers with these "beautiful marks", would have fit way better I think, as it would also suit the butterflys.

It's always good to have your design ideas down on paper from the beginning, that way you have a clear picture of what you're aiming for. This design sadly doesn't do the cake much justice..... the naked cake itself looked very well made and I hope your clients liked it.

This is honestly awful, I hope you refunded her and were honest. My wedding cake lady thought mine was due a month later! Even though I had an invoice with the correct date and messaged her 2 weeks before. Even the quick fake cake she made up for me was better than this. Honestly it was such a nice day anyway that I didn’t let it spoil my day and she at least had the decency to refund me.

She clearly spent most of the time filming. The top tier is made of Styrofoam, and I think the middle tier is too (and possibly the entire cake, really).

​@I_do_Random_Stuffs it's not rude it's the truth. I do cakes myself and where I work we do the cake itself from scratch and the designs. The designs only take 30 minutes they don't take 2 hours or 3. No hate towards this person of course the cake looks amazing.

simple. elegant, the dabs of color make it more than just a cake

The design is fine but I was not convinced by the blobs of icing meant to be butterflies full stop as a customer I would have been very disappointed

It's what I thought, too. I expected the blobs to be turned into flowers 🌼🌹 and/or butterflies but nothing of the like. Just blobs with pearls and paper cut butterflies 🦋.

Tbh I don't get all the comments that are calling this good... It's a little disappointing. Like if I paid a shit ton of money for a cake I'd want them to atleast add more color than just little blotches all over the cake. I feel like she should of done more.

nah honestly it wouldn’t even be your fault bc she WASNT creative with this cake. she did not achieve the objective even with the vague request so it was not a job well done on HER part. i wouldn’t be saying this if it were just from safeway but it’s a custom cake channel i think it should be up to par

I would feel disappointed if I had to pay thousands of dollars for you to stick on paper butterflies and dabs of colored frosting on three cakes for a special occasion that I had planned. You need to discount that customer and apologize for your mistake.

@@HauntedCadaver it doesn't look half asked to me people have paid more for simpler desighns. She didn't say how much it costed ao they probably didn't pay for the most intriguing desighn imaginable. There's not many desighns u can do. It also depends on the age of the person

@@Havis_Princess Question is why you are in the comments trying to convince everyone that this cake is acceptable. Who the hell wants a piece of ribbon, plastic and paper in their cake?! People hate this design for a reason... it was poorly executed and rushed. Contained no creativity whatsoever. And don't tell me for millionth time that butterflies are not creative. I have seen beautiful butterfly cakes, EATABLE. Proper baker has a supply of eatable or even food ink printed decor items.

Suggestion: since the top tier of cake is positioned like it's floating, I think making it seem like the butterflies are taking it away would be cute.

i thought it would have been so pretty and elegant if the empty space had been filled by putting like a clear enclosure with butterflies and lights on the inside or something to really make the butterflies the stars of the cake since it was so minimalistic

It was an ok attempt but I feel like if you took away the butterfly cutouts you’d not be able to tell it’s a butterfly themed cake and some of the choices felt a bit random to try and pass as impressive and abstract when in reality it was likely just filler. I do hope the client got a discount as things like this happen sometimes and what’s happened happens
