Joking aside, if you adopt a cat or pull a stray of the streets, putting butter on their paws is a good way to get them to come back if they run off. Because they will remember the taste of the butter when they go to lick their paws clean and want to come back to where they got the butter for more. This is mainly because due to butter having a high fat content, it comes off as sweet to the cats due to them being predators. And if they run off, the risidual butter will leave a trail they can smell. So they want to come back to where they got the sweet treat that is butter. Granted, cat treats will work better. But butter is great to get things started while you are getting the cat accomidated.

Ah, the buttered cat paradox. Though the paradox asks for a piece of buttered bread strapped on the cat, so I wonder if this would affect these results For y’all that don’t know, the buttered cat paradox goes as this: a cat always lands on it feet, and buttered bread always lands butter side down, so if you strap a piece of buttered bread on the back of a cat which way will it land?
