Your bags are beautiful! I love the cheerful colorways and the pattern of the fabric is so classic but fun. My Mom had a sewing room like yours, fabric everywhere - and loved to sew.. We loved playing store on the ironing board with all the notion bits n spools when little.. However she was making yards of covered cording we would flee - else she'd set us to turning it rightside out! Your home is charming and beautiful. Happy the Moon provided your link. 😊😊

This is the first time viewing your channel. I didn’t finish the video yet, but had to say the lines(chem trails) the planes are putting out will clog that beautiful blue sky and make the sun hazy. They have done it here in the USA many many times day after day. Our air is so hazy and the sky is less blue each day. Back to your video....

@@hiddenawayinfrance ah, was unsure if you would see my comment as I think I put it in the wrong place! I just loved your video and I slept well after it. It brought back so many memories of being in France and the silence..except for some ASIAN hornets that arrived, they were not pleasant! I used to source so much fabric from a massive emaus and still have fabric from that now, back in the UK, I love making bags but none quite as crisp and professional as yours. Your price seems so cheap but then I guess you need them to sell. Thanks for the reminder also of the ritual of securing old shutters.a calming experience in itself! X

Loving the fabric you used for the bags. The hessian sets it off beautifully, though looks like it might be a bit hard on your fingers when you're sewing.

Thank you 🥰 yes, the hessian seems to balance out the decorative patterns. It's not as difficult as it looks to use, as long as a big size needle is used- I've broken so many!

Thank you so much for your comment. I don't actually use any interfacing as the hessian is very rigid and the outer fabric is quite heavy too. So the combination of both means no need for stiffening. 🥰

Thank you for sharing with us. I enjoyed the segment of your sewing room. I have spent many many hours sewing and at fabric stores. The sounds of the machine and steam iron brought up memories and the amazing smells in my mind. I have not been able to sew for a long time, so this was a big treat for me. You have such beautiful fabrics. I love the bags you made. And your garden and home are so beautiful! France is a magical place indeed. I will share something exciting news. My sister’s neighbor had an old singer tredal sewing machine she bought for $100 at a rummage sale. With the idea of using the ornate top to make a sink! My sis told her of the value of the machine and the story of us growing up with our mom and her singer tredal. My sis and I were broken hearted that she had plans to destroy it. But we understood it was not our business. And yesterday, the neighbor asked my sis if she wanted it as they are moving. Of course my sis said yes! And offered to pay her for it. But the neighbor wouldn’t take any money. It is amazing truly amazing the turn of events of this old Singer. I looked up the serial # and it was made in 1906. The stories that old and loved machine could tell! My sis will lovenly clean it and put it a place of honor in her home. I’m pretty sure she will try and source the belts and whatever she needs to get it operational again. Thank you for listening and for sharing your beautiful videos with us. 🤗

I too feel the sadness when I see them being "re-purposed" even though it's better than them being thrown away. I love seeing them complete and more so being used like Jenny ( The Moons) does. Those mullein leaves, dried, and made into tea are a wonderful remedy for chest/lung congestion.

Mullein is good for coughs and broncitis just use the leaves for a tea it is a beautiful plant with many health uses!

We do have hornets here in France, both European and Asiatic. They're quite a problem really,but also very pretty. We also have hawk moth bees (I think that's their name) and they hover at the flower like a teeny tiny hummingbird. Love your home and garden, and your sewing. It is a joyous life here in rural France.

Thank you. Apparently 5 bags have already sold so I will need to get making more 😊 The hornets are drawn to the light in my room whenever I work late. I can here them tapping on the glass. This one must have snuck in during the day when the window was open. It's an European hornet, impressive to see due to its size but an enemy of bees. Thanks for watching 🥰

@@valarievowles9022 i think it is only the Asiatic hornets which kill bees. The Hawk moth is a "humming bird hawk moth" - bit concerned as seen far fewer this year.there are several much bigger hawk moths which mostly feed at night so dont see them often 😄

The large plant you call the great Muellin, we have them in the NewEngland area of USA and I’ve always called them Lambs Ear because the leaves are fuzzy and shaped like lambs ear.
