Hi Jasmine, this is exactly the way how it is done in Jamaica, even down to the women coming to buy the fish to sell on and those helping are rewarded with a little fish. I have helped to pull in the nets on a few occasions as well. I'm sure it's the same in the other Caribbean countries. Follow your bliss! 😁 ☀ 🇬🇭 🇯🇲

Those puppet sellout African leaders and politicians need to listen and watch how those fishermen and family work together to accomplish their goal, maybe they can learn about unity and being misled by foreign Mzungu. Great and authentic content as always Jas!! Can’t help but notice the size of the catch from such a wide net cast. I bet they had larger catches back in the day as compared to now, not with all these giant European trawlers using state of the art radar tech to empty the local waters of every living fish. The govt needs to do more to protect the local fishing economy. Still wonderful to see how these fishing communities are still holding on..

This was amazing. I have never seen fishing done this way. That area has so much tourism potential. The government needs to address the trash issue. Maybe fishermen can have subsidized living as a preservativation of cultural heritage because I am sure they can barely have their needs met just by fishing. Also, there should be schools and daycare centers near by so that the women can drop off the small children while they work and the older children can attend school either in the morning or the afternoon. They can fish as well and learn the trade. Eish, we have so much potential but how do we harness it 😢

@@JasmineAmaa The teamwork - men and boys - is wonderful. Each one knows his place and his part. This is a true education process, whereby the youth is learning a skill, a trade, how to earn income through his own effort, rather than wait on someone else to fill his needs. Academic education is very good and has its place, but unless a farmer makes his contribution by planting, the fisherman pulls his seine, the livestock rearer does his part, etc, the rest of the world dies. Plain and simple! I have the greatest respect and admiration for them all.

Why don't they attach wheels to the canoes like it's done on boats to make it easier to move it to the Sea

It was done the same way in Kenya but the government banned this type of fishing because it is destructive. This fishing method havests everything including fingerlings.

Nice video, but this is small scale fishing, there are other fishing methods in Ghana with motorized canoes and small boats for deep sea fishing.

Great teamwork. A great mix of the capitalist and socialist spirit of commerce and co-operation. Everybody pitches in, everybody gets some fish.
