    Great walk around, thank you! I've looked at Hiker, Escapade, Sherpa, etc. and saw a Bushwacker for the first time recently on a camper sale lot. Overall it looked pretty good. My first nix was that it was a Coleman COOLER that many probably translate to "Fridge" as you mentioned. A switch to a fridge and this looks like a pretty sweet little setup based on the short term reviews/info I've seen so far. Tempting for sure! Really love the graphics and the personalization you did!

    You're not crazy. I de-bushwhacked mine too. Those stock graphics were just hideous to me. No new graphics yet but there will be something. Nice job on yours! And awesome on the table! Sorry, but I'm stealing your idea. So far we've had the shakedown weekend trip in our local mountains and then spent a week traveling around UT with it. I've already reworked the galley on mine so I could install a compressor fridge. That was very much worth the work and cost. And I have a few other ideas floating around. DM me if you like and I'll share. And everything you said about towing and weight distribution I totally agree. That trailer plus a mid-sized truck is a great combo. And after scrutinizing mine quite a bit I think with a little work it can be made very offroad worthy so maybe a good fit for a Jeep too. As-is it's fine on easy to moderate fire roads. Nothing major or bad is coming apart on it that I wouldn't expect. Her bones are solid. Thanks for sharing.

    Glad to hear. I now have 5000 miles on this trailer and I'm still happy with the purchase. I've had a couple things come lose but nothing I couldn't fix. Just got my letter, theirs a recall on the attachment method between the cabin structure and the frame. I inspected mine and she's attached just fine but plan to take it in anyway. I tested the A/C issue others are speaking of and I'm experiencing this shutting down/overheating others are. Have you tested yours? My left tail light is already out, annoying considering these are LED, so I'm going to take a leap and say it's wiring. Digging into that next. Would love to see a pic of your galley, I'm considering making room for a microwave as I need a way of warming my coffee. lol

    @@pvclassic Hey there! Sorry for the slow reply. And sorry for the long post but I've got lot's to share. I hope some of it's useful to someone. I received the recall a week ago. I don't see an issue with mine but then that letter didn't go into much detail. I've got nowhere to be for awhile so the dealer can have at it. And I really don't want to tempt fate ;-) So far we have two trips on it and about 2500 miles since I brought it home in late September. Here's a couple shots of the galley redo and that infamous ghost graphic as I like to call it, post de-whacking: photos.app.goo.gl/FF67uE6pFp5272sH9 I'd not call it a re-do at this point. That was something simple I put together 2 days before we left on a 1 week trip so we could be on our way with the fridge. I really didn't want to be lugging that fridge in and out of the trailer or truck. I built a simple cabinet with birch-ply I had on hand, stick framed and spar varnished to seal it. I deleted the sink, moved the water QC and just use a pop-up sink now. If I keep it as-is I think I may build a matching removable fascia for the fridge and some sort of top that can hinge up for quick fridge access and also on slides so it can pull out to double as more counter space (think L-shape with fridge at the back) while being able to get in the fridge. Unfortunately that HUGE aluminum lip at the bottom of the hatch (2") makes it kind of difficult to build a slide-out for the fridge. The counter would be ridiculously tall, hence the sliding flip-top idea. I dunno, I'm still thinking about it. I've seen some slide out stove ideas I like which could lower that and allow for building a fridge slide. I'd also build a drawer under the stove but I need to find out what the clearances are for the furnace which it would be right above. Tis the reason for the exposed screws too. That's a service panel of sorts. Anyway, I've got much more work to do before I'll call it done. As for the ghost graphics I think the aluminum is only clear coated so a little clay bar work may clean that up. Right now it just needs a bath. Badly ;-) Other little mods I've done. * Swapped out stock USB ports for a USB quick charge set/12vdc outlet/voltage meter combo. * Installed a basic PWM solar charge controller between the solar port and battery. I use an unregulated 100w ground panel. * Added more QC3 USBs in the galley and some Anderson ports to run the fridge (cig adapters tend to fall out on rough roads). * Foam sealed the GAPING holes around the plumbing and electrical ingress in the floor under the galley. * Made a bug screen for the furnace return * re-wired the stereo as it was done completely wrong. (Speakers out of phase and channels crossed, antenna coax wasn't even plugged in, mounting was half-assed) So you mentioned the stereo on yours not getting any reception I believe. There's a couple of things to consider. It could be that like mine the coax isn't plugged in. Also, in the small cabinet over the ACU, there's an antenna amplifier back there for the radio and TV. It has a small power button. Don't forget to turn it off when done or else you'll have a dead battery after awhile. Other musings of upgrades: * Add an awning like a simple ARB or maybe a 270 Rhino? Tarp and poles attached to the roof rack are good enough for now. * Build a shower curtain and water heater-in-a-box thing on the drivers side. * Wire up LEDs underneath for low light ambiance and rodent lighting. * Put a decent AV head unit and speakers in along with 12vdc HDMI monitor (Wife loves her TV at bedtime) * When the current battery wears out upgrade to 120AH AGM and an MPPT charge controller. Maybe add another 100W panel on the roof, permanently mounted. * Beef up the fenders to be weigh bearing. May add sliders and actual frame jacks instead of the stab-jacks. * Swap vent fan for something nicer. The stock one's kinda noisy and I'd like a rain cover. * Relocate the solar port. Can't use the left door catch now with the panel plugged in, very annoying. * Maybe add a heating pad to the water tank and insulate and enclose it? Definitely adding a level sensor. It's hard to see levels now. * get rid of the AC and rebuild back wall and cabinets including the galley. Maybe a pass-through cabinet too? That last one is a big one. I really don't like that ACU. Here in SoCal on a hot day (118 in the IE here one day this Summer!) it doesn't do much. The back wall heats up a lot from the ACU exhaust, somewhat self defeating. I also boondock a lot (and hate generators!) and tend to follow the weather. The thing is that design they used for venting the ACU, there's about 4" of wasted space between the cabin and galley. I'm also tired of hitting my heels on that AC cabinet. I'm no master cabinet builder but I could do better. Overall I like the trailer. I was close to building my own but I wanted an aluminum frame and I'm just not a skilled welder. This thing was around $10K and it's very easy to work on. I can get it dialed in how I want it for not too much money so all-in the little rig might be around $12-$13K by the time I'm satisfied? Something pre-built like I want is more like $20K. Besides, it's fun to fiddle with it!

I have a Subaru Outback with a tow capacity of 3500, but want something under 1500 total w/ cargo so I can go over the Pacheco Pass or Altamount towards the 101 without too much strain on my car. Now I'm concerned about the AC issue. I wonder if I could order one without the stock AC.

    So I recently sold this camper and purchased a No BO 19.3 trailer. Needed something bigger. I did like the teardrop but the practical part of it wasn't the perfect match for me. They are cheap and you can mod them easily. Don't offroad them like you would a pro-built unit, but too they are affordable given what they are.

    Great Review! Just got ours last week (based largely on your review) and did a one nighter in Lake Havasua. I wanted to also do the solar and I looked into the Renogy unit that you have. To install the compatible connector did you just clip off the alligator battery clips and buy something compatible with the port on the side? Just afraid I'd ruin the solar panel if I did it that way but if it was easy to connect I may give it a try. Doesn't seem like the cord would be very long if you did it that way either. Thanks

    Some questions I have about the bushwhacker teardrops I have are: 1. I'm afraid to lose value on resale, if I sell in 1 to 5 years just in case. This is all new to me. How much would I lose in money selling it. 2. Durability and longevity. If I store in garage and only travel on asphault roads how many years should this last? 3. Will a bushwhacker teardrop ruin my 08 honda crv small 4 cylinder engine in anyway does the tranny or engine take a toil from towing it?

  • @pvclassic

    @pvclassic

    2 жыл бұрын

    Loss of value depends on what you consider value. The more you use it the more valuable it was to you right? You created memories, enjoyed life, got outdoors. I use the rental method, find out what it would cost to rent one and everytime you use it at that rental rate up. When you go to sell it subtract the total of rental fees and I'll bet the trailer is still worth more than the sum of purchase price minus rental fees.

    We bought our bushwacker back in 2019. There was a lot of trouble shooting as it was the first model they made. We are in south Florida and biggest issue I am dealing with is the ac unit over heating and causing the galley kitchen and the space around the AC unit to get very hot. We bring our 70lb Airedale Terrier and he usually sleeps by our feet in a regular bed but when we bring him he refuses to sleep down there, presumably because he gets to hot being under the AC. I feel bad for the little guy he crawls up toward our heads throughout the night and as a result none of us ever get truly comfortable. Any advise or similar experience?

    Hi Junior, Great review. The only one besides dealers on KZread. Kuddos. I just bought one. I'm having the same issue with AC as James on the comments below. Do you have any AC issues in the hot AZ climate? What specific type of pop rivets did you use to attach the rubbermaid rail? How sturdy does it feel? Thanks very much!

I will be spending a month in mine while hitting DownHill Mountain Bike parks in the west this Sept, so will be doing a long term review. Just search MC4 to SAE adapter on Amazon/KZread and you'll see what I mean. I'm happy to help once you get the coach and the panel.

    I bought one of these and have had it for 12 days. The power cord to the truck was too short but dealer said nothing and it ground off. The bolts on the pads in back fell off. The propane tank nut also fell off. The hatch brackets failed after 3rd day. The water tank was just checked for the first time and it would not prime. There is now water all over the bottom of the sink. I suggest you buy a different teardrop. This is garbage so far. I am hoping the dealer will fix everything, but somehow I don't think so.

    You may be underestimating your loaded weights. At 8.33 lbs per gallon for distilled water, you would be adding roughly 170 lbs just in water if you have a tank roughly 20 gallons in size. I had a friend and we weighed the food he normally carried on a weekend trip, with just his wife and himself and it came close to 100 lbs. Cooking utensils, clothes basic cleaning supplies added another 200 lbs. Add your toys and I bet you are fairly heavy.

  • @pvclassic

    I take very little water usually. Some of what I carry I take within the tow vehicle, including the people. Considering weight is mostly a concern during towing and not during storage/camping, I for one am careful of what I put on the thing during towing.

  • @pvclassic

    @pvclassic

    3 жыл бұрын

    So yes & no. It fits, only you have to remove the OEM wood base that holds the original fridge and one handle off the Iceco. Too, you have to assure both side of the Iceco have a gap for the fans to work properly otherwise you'll overheat them. I actually don't use the space that way. I use that space for storage of dry foods and my Iceco goes in my truck or car. To answer your other question, JP30 is the max that would fit in this space. Frankly it's a good fit without fridge handles. You can use foam shims to center the fridge between walls so the fans stay cool. It will work.
