I just got mine and one of the first things I noticed is they moved the water pump switch and also the antenna. They must be using your videos for product enhancements. I respect they paid attention.

We bought ours last year before Thanksgiving. We have been out 3 times this year. Been working out the bugs and making mods. Took out the storage under the mattresses, honestly wasn't that useful. Put in a queen size 10 inch memory foam mattress. Sleep like a baby now. Put a tongue box on the front for better storage. Have 2 awnings on the way should have them put on this weekend. We absolutely love our bushwacker. So many trips planned for the summer. We can put our kayaks on the roof rack and it's great.

I've been researching teardrop trailers for the last 3 years. Wanted a Little Guy. Then found the Bean Teardrop. Just can't justify their prices. So, after watching your video. I will be picking up my Bushwacker on Wednesday. Look forward to customizing it to meet my needs

Awesome review. U are one of the main reasons myself and wife are getting away from our class C and into the teardrop camping mode. We have a nucamp rage boondock and love just how much more fun it is to get out and see our great country. Keep up the great videos. Hope to meet ya one day.

I turned on air conditioning and if you get above 3 you will get condensation on the outside from the back of air conditioner. Stay at 3 or lower no water dripping down. I bought my 10 HD 2 weeks ago from Clear Creek in Abeline Texas and paid 10, 000the rubber stripping is loose on the right side door. Mostly I have few complaints, speakers are crap but putting in new speakers this weekend. I am seventy years old and watch your you tube videos give me confidence to tackle most of the jobs I need to do.

I bought solar panel and an additional battery. The jackery has been a great buy, ima using my gas powered gen for the air conditioner. Grandson is anxiously waiting for me t buy him a router . I take your suggestions seriously and attempt to make changes . I watched you tube and put in a kill switch for the radio., took me 3 tries before I succeeded. Planning to train a rescue German Shepherd to be my companion . Signed up for a trip in August to go with a group with Don

Good stuff as always Brian. Good dealers definitely should be promoted. The furnace is under the brand Suburban. That was one of the first things I noticed when I got my HD - that it wasn't Dometic. So BC probably got a contract that saved a few bucks. The suburban t-stat is the worst I've ever seen and didn't even work at the dealership. A piece gets easily bent or stuck preventing contact to complete the circuit to send the call for heat. I told them no worries as I already had the LuxPro waiting at home to install. That mod should be a high priority to anyone buying an HD. The piece you pointed to in the cabin is actually the return - the registers are the two circles to the right of it. They can be rotated to direct the airflow a bit which is nice - since we often put bigger mattresses in, you can turn them to shoot upwards rather than into the mattress. It'll be interesting to see how they continue to update the standard build of these as time goes on.

I set the comments up on my app to come in like text messages, it is getting to the point where I might have to dial back… lol As for battery AC, although it is possible, it’s extraordinarily expensive. I have a few videos where I discussed this, and a few more coming. If you are looking for a brief use, 1000 W portable power station will give you about an hour and a half.

Kline in Warren, Michigan has the 10HD at the same price as Hufnagel. Just putting that out there. Love the video's, I've learned a great deal. Please, keep it up!

We bought out BW in March of 2020 from H&M. We went back a month ago to see the new ones. We just happened to go the day after you filmed this vid. We live in the same county as the dealer. I used to go there with my parents as a camping family. Our model has no actual model number like 10HD or 10SS.

Great review. I found your channel after looking at Bushwackers in Lincoln, Nebraska. On one of your reviews of your camper, you were less than thrilled about the kitchen door panel leaking water into the corner. Could you tell if that problem has been remedied? And the roof rack, does it still interfere with the vent opening if you have something flat on the rack? I see they put the antennae further back, does that help? I am really enjoying your channel. Keep it up.

They fixed the antennae issue with the relocation. They galley door is still tricky. The water runs around the hinge when the galley door is open in rain. The only solution I see is using a wider hinge like the DIY people do. Most of us put a little piece of zip tape or gorilla tape on the corners and it solves the problem… still a Bushwhacker…lol

Appreciate the walkthrough and non salesperson comments and opinions. It is a little disappointing to hear this dealer offers a fair price and then not to include what that price for this particular trailer is. I do realize prices vary based on what's included, where you buy and when you buy. But a ballpark price range for "this" trailer, at this dealer, would've been a beneficial detail, amongst all of your other details and discussion, to include. Thanks for your efforts.

Dangit Brian, you're making me want to go get another Bushwhacker now! Good improvements all around. Well, maybe not that furnace. My new rig has a Suburban in it and I'm not liking it all that much. Very noisy, not nearly as efficient and serviceabilty doesn't look great. Time will tell. The little Dometic they were putting in the older Bushwhackers were pretty nice, actually, just replace the thermostat. I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was. I did have to work on it once and the service panel made that very easy. Oh and speaking of the horrible Dometic thermostat, if you're wondering if it can get any worse, yes, it can. The Suburban version is nearly identical, just as hard to use and mine seems to, well, recalibrate itself for lack of a better description. It's weird, never seen anything like it before. Set it for what seems like temperature X, like 50, verify with a thermometer that it shuts down close enough to that and then go to bed. Within 2-3 hours it's crept up ~10 degrees higher, roasting me awake and wasting propane. Bump it down a bit and rinse-repeat. Must be cheap bi-metal I guess. Whatever, it's getting swapped for a luxpro.

I am looking at one of these. I live in a condo but I have several underground parking spaces but the height limit is 7 feet. This would be ideal as I can park it in regular parking space underground. I also want something that I can just hook up on Friday and get out of town without a lot of prep. This looks ideal for my vehicle which has a hitch but only a 2000lb limit. Great overview.

This sounds like a perfect fit for you. You love it. I have also been getting into Hiker trailers. To give yourself options, check out my videos on the Hiker highway deluxe, it's cheaper, lighter, and better built. It will also fit within your height limit.

Thanks for the great review, I bought one yesterday! Any idea on how long you can run everything on just battery power? The dealership said 8 hrs, including the A/C! A little hard to believe. Have you tested this?

Haha… dealerships can be frustrating… The air conditioner can definitely not run on battery. Your lights, USB, water pump, and furnace can run on battery. Your outlets, including the air conditioner, require shore power or a generator. How long you can run is the intersection of how big your battery is by how much you use. It will make more sense eventually, I have a ton of videos on the channel about battery use and solar. 99% of people who enjoy off grid camping have to upgrade their battery. Good luck, stay tuned!

Great question. “Free Solo” is like the limited edition. There’s different graphics on it and it comes with an awning. Otherwise same trailer.

Aside from that, as I said in this vid the northeast has the best prices new. There are TONS of lightly used BW’s for sale on the market right now. Thanks Brian. Does settling for a $11,300 Braxton still make sense in 2022? There are so many other options out there for less money including all metal $6,500 Camp-Inn Road Toad. The $$6500 "The Teardrop Trailer Inc." all of which offer better construction and no sawdust Ha ha ha. Once you add the options to equal a Braxton you will still save several thousand dollars and have a better constructed trailer (in my opinion). The bone headed access items you pointed out indicate Braxton wants to sell trailers and could not care less about the owners. =Cosmo

I'm so glad, with your experience, that you chimed in with this question. The answer... IDK? I'm eager to find out. I have been looking and haven't seen the "add on options" part to be true. Insulation, propane furnace, AC (even though I could do w/o), 24 gallon H2O, roof rack, kitchen galley... I haven't seen that under 15k...I'm looking really hard at Hiker. The Road Toad is amazing, it's still uninsulated and is over 10k with half the options. I think that one is the winner for sure if you are okay with the base model. The Teardrop trailer inc is $6,500 in the "cargo trailer" style...literally comes as an empty box. The QC at Braxton Creek drives me nuts, but I'm having a tough time finding a trailer that knocks them off the "best value" platform. The bones -axle, frame, carriage, skin- are top notch, the finishings and customer relations are dreadful... Help turn me away from the dark side..haha BTW... lets get together this spring !

You’re exactly right. Decals, aftermarket awning, but also a rear receiver hitch. Typically, the Bushwhacker is a better value, you can have those extra features added for less. The FS is nice coming with the extras if you want them.

I like the new spot for the A/C. I was wornding. I see the exgust but where does it pull in air to use to cool the coil off. Thank You

It draws return air from inside the cabin. That's how it runs so efficiently and dries the air out. Thanks for watching.

If it draws from inside. that will cause a vaccum inside, new air will be drawn in from outside.

@@chrislincoln489 There’s a louver to control fresh air intake, like on any window air conditioner. When you are drawing the intake from the cabin, it matches it by recycling. It does not create a pressure delta.

Brian, Thank you for your videos. Question? When you did your review one year ago, you recommended people should not buy the trailer. You talked about the dealer and the manufacturer not providing service. This one’s pretty complementary of the camper and the dealer. So what do you think? Good bad or ugly? Would you recommend it?

I definitely got a lemon, even with the problems that are typical on all campers, mine appeared to be a lot worse than the others that I’ve seen. I also think the 2022 HD has made some solid improvements. The reason I did this video at Hufnagel and Majors is because they’re an excellent dealership, that’s gonna go a long way for people. All and all, compared to other trailers on the market, this is a great deal for people who know what they’re getting into. I try to show the good and bad so people know ahead of time, hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

So nice to meet you. I found you through one of Playing with Sticks Video's. I have a 2022 Rav4 Plug in Hybrid with a 2500lb towing capacity. I am very excited about finding a 1300lb. teardrop that is affordable. Can you tell me what mpg you get towing your trailer with your Vehicle(I think I saw in one of your video's it was a Tacoma Pickup) vs when not towing you trailer. My wife and I are preparing for Retirement and hoping to take some long trips and with gas prices the way they are we are trying to figure this out. Thanks so much!

That Rav 4 Prime is so nice, congrats on getting one, they’re hard to find. My Tacoma mpg is all over the place, I usually have a lot of weight in the back. I rarely come close to 20 mpg without the camper. With it, I get 17-12… depending on conditions and how I’m driving. The prime should do much much better than this. Let me know how you make out.

May I ask you one more question? If I was towing a Bushwacker on a long trip would you recommend towing it with a Rav4 Prime that get 40mpg without towing a trailer or with a Ram Pickup that gets 20mpg without towing a trailer? My guess-timate is I would get 20 to 25mpg with the Rav4 Prime or about 15mpg with the Ram. Does that sound right? Do you think it is worth 5 to 10 less mpg using a bigger vehicle that would give you a-lot more storage? My guess is that is why you probably tow with a Toyota Tacoma.

Nice review, but I have to say I was "slightly" disappointed that you only showed the 10HD model. I was hoping to get a quick look at the other models that are self-contained with indoor kitchen and bathroom. I guess I'll just have to take a day and drive down there.

They are virtually an identical trailer. They’re made by the same people and use all of the same parts etc.. The FS has a different graphic and features 2 additional components. The first is a rear receiver hitch and the second is an aftermarket awning attached to the roof rack. If you don’t need the rear receiver, it is far cheaper to buy the awning yourself and attach it (very fast job). Otherwise, the FS is a nice package.

It’s a mixed bag for sure. I def got a lemon, far worse than most I’ve seen. They’ve made improvements, but overall they are delivering more bang for the buck than most companies. Really comes down to the customer and what they need

What are your thoughts of a Bushwacker being towed by a FWD drive car (2022 Hyundai Elantra SEL)? The tow capacity numbers online range from 1,300 kilos to 750 lbs. My manual say "not recommended to tow" not, "do not tow". I think they may have put that in for U.S. customers because we're so damn litigious. EU/AUS manuals say "1,300 kilos". What do you think? Too sketchy? I want a Bushwacker so badly but don't want to buy another vehicle just to tow it. Keep up the great work. Best, Chris Pace Salt Lake City P.S. Let’s just answer it this way…. I would definitely tow a BW with it… lol The BW has brakes, which I would use, and the loaded weight will be considerably under the EU/AUS limits. You are correct about the overly cautious US standards and where they come from. I would use caution in mountainous areas and take it easy… definitely mind the tongue weight too. That’s exactly where Ripple got her name, huge fan. Thanks for tuning in!

@@DIYOutdoorLife Yep, I sure did. I've decided to error on the side of caution and not attempt to tow anything with my Elantra. I wish I could afford an appropriate towing vehicle. I got to tell you, I'm surprised by how bummed out I am. Regardless, I enjoyed the fantasies of doing road trips in a teardrop, much of it thanks to you and Drew Hansen's videos. 🙏

I believe it’s 72-74”. I’m 6 foot and it’s comfortable. I’ve met some people that removed the little head cabinet and grabbed at least six more inches. The job takes ten minutes. Good luck!

Many people do, depending on the model you have, its fine. 1300 pounds dry, check the tow rating on your vehicle, most Ravs are 2000 or higher, keep the camper packed light.

Kind of a mix I’d say 50/50. Some places with hookup some places I just rock whatever I can on the propane. Also have an eco flow power station and some good solar panels. What’s the deal with the free solo model? Seems like it’s almost identical to this one but they don’t list it on their website. Very weird lol.

@@undefeatedgaul3201 it’s only available at some dealerships. It just has different stickers and a rear receiver hitch, typically costs a lot more.

No, I should though. It’s the exact same trailer with an aftermarket awning and different graphics. It comes down to price, they charge quite a bit for those graphics.

Hey Jessica, the excel sheet I was keeping has become too crazy to keep up with this year. The prices were changing daily. Check out the videos on the channel I did on pricing and the new 2022 HD model, I included a lot of pricing advice in those videos. I didn’t dare because it changes so fast! I’d have people complaining every time it shifted..lol. I bought my trailer there last year for $9,300, it seems to be around 11 now. I’ve been tracking the best I can, if you consider the no fees, it’s almost always the cheapest I can find in country.

On paper, that is not the case. I really appreciate that you brought that up because it seems to work out that way. I’ve had warranty work done on the road before and it’s much more challenging than the dealership you purchased from.

@@johneroyale Same trailer, free solo has different graphics, aftermarket awning and a rear hitch. Unless the graphics are important to you, you can buy the awning and hitch a lot cheaper than they upcharge for the Free Solo.

Where I live the Bushwhacker brand is no longer available. The dealer said it was because of, among others, poor quality materials, workmanship and poor backing from the manufacturer on customer complaints. It's too bad because I liked the various floor plans, but I will not buy one now. What the hell happened to: "Made in America?"

I am hearing that more and more, some dealerships were not very happy with the customer support from Braxton Creek. They were just sold to a much larger RV outfit, I'm hearing good things and I've seen some good things from the newest models on the road.

Great question, it’s been a long strange trip for sure. My ‘21 10ss was a lemon, far more problems than most experience. I try to be clear about the short comings and keep it real with people…. It’s far from perfect. I have come to see they weren’t all like mine. For the price, considering the features, I do think it’s a steal. I’ve definitely come around to realizing it might just be the best lousy trailer out there…lol It’s less than half the price of comparable trailers. So although my opinion flip flops, it comes down to the customer, if you don’t mind fixing some things up… great buy! If you’re looking for a high end finish, I’d keep shopping. Hope this helps!

having a hard time trying to figure out the difference between the different models, the website doesn't help with my questions. Also, I don't want an air conditioner, the AC should be optional, I hate how the AC is vented and that its another hole in the wall that you have to seal and maintain. I'm a skinny dude, living and camping up in the northern parts of the USA, I don't want that AC taking up room, adding weight to the trailer and adding cost to the trailer. Plus you can only use it while on shore power and I'm rarely on shore power. The AC should be an option. And so should that shitty ass cooler, the cooler should be an option. I'd never opt for that cooler setup. Again, like the AC, the cooler just adds unnecessary cost to the trailer. Also, the radio system, another thing I'd never ever use. I've seen in many videos the 'head unit' is complete junk and the speakers sound terrible. They need to make the stereo system optional and again its just another crappy item that only drives up the cost even more. And same deal with the TV antenna and all the wiring and hookup connections that go along with that BS. Its just another item that I'd never ever ever use and it should be optional. But these are not custom trailers, they are mass produced by people who don't seem to give a shit( I can't believe all the crooked mounted items I've seen in these Wackers. But with all that said, the starting price is great and it doesn't take much to 'fix em up right'.

Great point, although this is far better than the average plan. Most dealerships are charging over a grand for limited warranties that is good for 5 years. These guys do free lifetime warranty, contingent on you bringing the camper into a dealership once a year, it doesn't even have to be their dealership. Pretty good deal overall.
