Good morning. It's bad when the camera comes with a defect, even more so when they are of high value. I'm keeping an eye on the camera below, it looks good to me. Have you thought about acquiring one of this 2023 model? Browning STRIKE FORCE FULL HD EXTREME BTC-5FHDX

Good morning. Yes it’s too bad and the replacement cam started having audio issues too especially worsening in daytime clips. This is my 3rd different model of this brand to return unfortunately. I was looking at that Browning model and would love to try that one of the Dark Ops model.I have the both versions of the Apex models and they came to me used from a friend and are still going strong. Maybe the newer version will have better audio. I am currently reviewing a CamPark camera that is supposed to have great audio unlike some other versions with audio coming through only at nighttime. Always looking for the complete package! Thanks for watching and your suggestion, Char

Thanks. I actually couldn’t close it except with two hands and a bit of force. Maybe that seal wasn’t aligned correctly. Not sure. After I returned that camera the second camera did not have that issue and the tray closed easily. I remember the new Browning Recon Force Elite had a battery tray issue as well but it wouldn’t stay latched when closing but after I used the camera for a few weeks it was just fine.

Great work doing this review Char. I watched this earlier today on my TV, and I'm just now having time to reply. I have Pink-eye in both eyes and my vision is quite blurry. Can you believe it?! Pink Eye !!! I'm wouldn't be happy with this camera... as you know sound quality is very important for my work. The video quality is good, however, the sound quality of this camera is awful. I'll be posting a video from the Dark Ops HD Max likely on Friday. Compared to the Dark Ops Apex, the sound quality is better. The Apex is less sensitive but very clean. The Dark Ops HD Max also clean while be more sensitive (louder). However, while the night video is comparable to the Apex, the Apex has noticeably better daytime video. So I prefer the Apex. I'll be getting the cameras from the field on Friday evening or Saturday, and I work on the video from the new Stealth Cam first. I believe you will like them.... video and sound quality-wise. The only thing I'm unsure of, is the number of 20 videos in 1080p per 32 GB SD Card... which is the largest SD compatible with the camera. Once I know that, I'll then guesstimate how long I an leave them in the field. Battery Consumption is something else I'm learning. I will fill you in. Have a wonderful day George

Sorry about the pink eye! I had that a few months ago for an entire week after the kids had it. Yes if the sound was good it would be a great camera. The second one had started with the info bar jumping around in videos as well so something with the processing. Very odd. I like my BushNell Aggressor better but the static sound is on that one too on and off but that was after the first two years of use but it shouldn’t be doing that. Thanks for the info on the Brownings. From what I’ve seen the audio on the Dark Ops and Strike Force cameras haven’t improved much in their newest lineup. Seems like it would be something they should request improvement on to market their new cameras. I look forward to seeing clips from the StealthCam. Mine has stopped being reliable and is not triggering. As of last week it is in the “mothball fleet” as you call it. Lol! Ttyl, Char

This camera was good on batteries. Took x6 AA batteries. I did not keep a record of how many video clips were taken per set of batteries. It was comparable or better than most of my Browning cameras in regards to battery life though. If you were just taking photos I think they would last a long time. I returned the 1st camera due to poor audio and the 2nd camera had good audio but it progressively worsened over a few weeks so I returned the 2nd camera as well.
