Bushcraft Fishing Rod and Spinning Reel made in the Woods

For this a light spoon lure that travel high in the water is ideal because this gear less reel gives the lure a slower speed in the water. It would also be ideal to carve a wobbler, bottom fishing or angle with a floater, hook, line and sinker.
In a survival scenario this would be invaluable if you have the basics for sawing, drilling and cutting in your pack. (I I trust that hooks and some line is in every survival kit). This was try Nr one for me and still I got a fish in under 30 minutes! I already have at least 3 improvements in mind to make it more effective and easy to handle. More coming up so stay tuned folks!

Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup kzread.infoUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

Mike_naugz88, unfortunately, in most cases silent videos will lose out to those with speech and music, imho :/ Although, I agree that non-stop commenting and musical background are overrated. Come to think of it, the author could write subtitles for a silent video, even a couple of versions, if required (it is possible; edit: sorry, the author can create only one set of CCs in any given language, for every other version you have to choose a different one), and people watching could chose, if they want to see author's comments or not by clicking CC. However, unless the channel has a big following (like this one does), doing that is a suicide, imho. Most people hate reading and aren't likely to get it. Nobody's doing it. I once entertained this idea and uploaded a short silent fishing video as a proof of concept (but without comments as CC), but it was not met positively even though solo fishing that I show is a quiet hobby by definition.

I'm not wasting money on a new rod and reel so If i wanna catch something of a decent size I'll find a long stick and tie some line on it and head to the river. But you just took that to another level and made your own reel and i give you respect for that.

FishTaco 650 - Money spent on a good rod and reel is never wasted. The rod/reel I spent a fair bit on 30 years ago is still going strong at a cost of about $10 per year and getting lower all the time. Constant use, thousands of fish, little maintenance. Best investment I have ever made.

Ninja Dad , the small one is called a "gimlet" (in English) if you are trying to source them. They have a self feeding screw tip like an auger does and work sort of like a reamer in wood to make the hole rather than the way spiral drill bits cut from the tip. They make much nicer holes than drill bits do when turning by hand. You can find them in traditional woodworking stores such as Lee Valley tools in Canada and I'm sure many other suppliers.
