easiest way to get the PTO spline from the RDTH to the tractor: 1) flip up the cover over the tractor PTO. 2) take a white chalk marker or silver sharpie and make a mark directly over any notch on the RDTH PTO spline (the channel in the spline that mates to the tractor PTO), make sure you can see it while joining the RDTH to the PTO. 3) Reach underneath the mower and slowly rotate the cutting blades, so that your marked notch lines up with a PTO groove. 4) slide the collar on. These kind of PTOs are really a pain to attach. I found this really helps.

That is how I do it (have not mark the spline , just compare the two to get the notches to line up.

Sharpening after 10 hours?? Mine gets sharpened once a year! Biggest problem is water condensate in the gearbox. Unless BH has added a drain plug, you need an oil vacuum to get it out, and it's about impossible to get out in one shot. Every year, I suck out the oil, refill with something cheap, run for a few minutes, suck out again, and replace the gear oil. Mine is kept outside, but I've heard that it doesn't much matter where you store 'em, they condensate like crazy in that gearbox. Then again my blades don't look that bad after a year, lol.

Does your PTO cover raise up? So much easier to connect PTO shaft if the cover is hinged.

No it does not, in the new tractor it does not spin freely when disingauged. The tractor is set up for a brake to be applied to the PTO when disingauged. Make connecting the drive shaft even harder.

My neighbor wants to sell me his RDTH60 MOWER, upon inspection, I notice that I cannot rotate the gearbox by hand, even using a bar attempting to rotate it in the PTO SHAFT.
