Yasssss! Excited to show you both around my home!!! (Although Arah ssaem is in Ulsan more often than I am probably 😅) It was so much fun again with you, and can’t wait to see you again! LA soon? 😉
I like it that the online Korean teachers have collaboration projects. It‘s always interesting to see everyone together and sharing your passion in teaching Korean and showing the culture. I guess I will have even more difficulty understanding locals in Busan and the surrounding region, seeing as I already have difficulties when listening to standard Korean. The pandemic is still raging so I still have time before I start travelling anyway. I still have time to learn more Korean….

Thank you for enjoying our collabs! I LOVE, LOVE working with other Korean teachers as well! 😃 Most dialect speakers, especially the younger people, would have the accent in intonation and tone but probably wouldn’t use really hardcore vocab nowadays. Don’t worry! 😉

You guys picked an awesome location. Question: if you were just learning Korean for the first time and you could visit for a few weeks, would you rather be in Seoul or Busan? (I've heard it's easier to understand folks in Seoul, at first. But should it even be a factor? Maybe you catch onto Busan dialect pretty fast?)
@KoreanJream
2 жыл бұрын
BOTH!!! 😃😉 If it were a few days, Seoul… but since you have weeks, spend time in both! Maybe a week or so in Busan? Most likely, younger people would have the Busan accent (intonation, tone) but may not use lots of really different vocab. ☺️

@@KoreanJream i like the way you worded that. Booked a trip for three weeks next spring! Hoping to see as many cities as I can on a shoe-string budget. Maybe this means staying at hostels/guest houses and eating ramen? Taking buses? Like...if I walk around Busan for a few days, see the surf spots, neighborhoods, I can get a better idea. Maybe there's a Korean backpacker's guide!??

Is it me or Korean Jream looks like somehow Rima of NiziU?? When I discovered her channel for the first time through Billy's collab, I first thought of Rima of Niziu HAHAHHAAH. Anyways, thank you for your contents about Korean language. I learned a lot about the language. 감사합니다!!!

For dialect wise, I feel like Busan dialect is like Cantonese, which whenever one speaks in busan dialect/Cantonese, other people who don't know the dialects will feel like they're arguing 😂 (but fyi, linguistics don't regard Cantonese as a dialect of Chinese language tho, for tone wise Cantonese has 9 tones ㅎㅎㅎ)
@KoreanJream

I’ve heard a few people saying Cantonese sounds similar to Korean (than Mandarin) too, and I can see how they may be more similar to Gyeongsang dialect too! Cool observation! 😀 ….and wow, 9 tones!!! 🤭
