Burzum is the first studio album by Norwegian black metal solo project Burzum. It was released in March of 1992 through Deathlike Silence Productions. All songs were written and composed by Varg Vikernes, who was only 18 years-old when the album was recorded in January 1992 during Full Moon at Grieghallen.

All music and lyrics by Varg Vikernes except "Ea, Lord of the Depths", words taken from the Necronomicon.
The album was re-released as Burzum / Aske to include the songs from the Aske EP. Only the Aske version of "A Lost Forgotten Sad Spirit" was included in the re-release. However, the original version was restored in 2010 on Burzum 1992-1999, released by Byelobog Productions.
Six of the songs from Burzum were re-recorded in 2010 and released on the album From the Depths of Darkness.

For me to be honest, the first album from Burzum is not just a simple album, it is a ritual and a dark journey in the world of Varg, this album is not only something you listen to, you also have to feel it.
Varg is one of the most talented musicians of the 20th century. Very, very, very few can boast the kind of natural feel for music and effortless songwriting skills Varg does.

It's a shame that I can't express my love and admiration to such an amazing record like this one freely on social media anymore, but this music will, hopefully, NEVER be forgotten since fans will always be there eagerly supporting and sharing it in other ways. Long live Burzum. 🤘🏻

Burzum isn't famous for being the best, but for being first in the style.. a pionerr. Filosofem is the only good Burzum album I think.
