In 1928 the soul of Burt Bacharach decided to incarnate and live on Earth, among other things, to compose unforgettable melodies with the purpose of making this world a better place and enrich our own souls by rejoicing in his art. After a long earthly life, his soul decided that it was time to return to his place of origin. Thank you very much Burt for being with us!

I am so in love with him up to now even he’s gone. His music will live forever in our hearts. His passion and his love is his music. You could feel and see it in the way he handles his orchestra. And to you Mr Burt, thank you for your love of music. I’ve been singing your songs almost everyday❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Music is one of the most sublime achievements of human soul. When Bacharach was showing at a rehearsal the children to sing in the choir that afterwards was to serve the children of 'Lost Horizon', the most beatiful musical I ever have seen, together with the wonderful story narrated, he was teaching the children how the music they were singing grew with the fabulous orchestra from minus to full sound of the whole instruments of the orchestra, exactly as he was saying those children grew up afterwards in later life. US really have deeply admired the great talent of this extraordinary so prolific music composer and subtle orchestrator, how he dis(played) each and all the different instruments of the orchestra and the chorus, the solo singers and solo instruments, alike. US enjoy his music to the fullest deepest and his longevity unto old age demonstrates that only the super human beings with their great achievements are enabled to reach such old age longevity as if they were eternal, certainly his lovely music will be for ever! Thank you so much for facilitating such magnificent recordings.

I first found out about his song "Raindrops keep falling on my head" in 1970. Then I got to know him as a composer and arranger in 1973, through a friend who had several records of his and gave me one of them. During the 70's I got to know more and more of his music. I loved his orchestral arrangements. Despite the fact that Lost Horizon was not as successful as expected, I always liked the film and its music and lyrics (later Ha David parted ways with Burt). The musical structure with the orchestral arrangements always stood out in my taste. I listen to his music frequently until his last public performances. Honor and respect to his memory.

When I was a baby I had a musical box that played "Raindrops keep falling on my head" in my crib. You can say I was almost born with the sound of Bacharach in my ears. One of my earliest memories is hearing "Three Wheels on My Wagon" on the radio, with my mother singing along and I adored its daft premise immediately. My parents were Carpenters fans, so I often got to hear "Close to You", not to mentioned the very many of his hits on the radio. "Magic Moments" indeed! It would be a while before I realised all these remarkable (and varied) tunes were composed by the same man. My first time seeing the name "Burt Bacharach" was on the 7" single of "Casino Royale", then later, when my sister got into punk rock, I heard The Stranglers doing "Walk on By", and there was that name again. In my 20s, after hearing the "Portrait in Music" compilation, I recognised his genius and decided to collect everything I could. My collection is _almost_ complete. I recently acquired "Sometimes Late at Night" by Carole Bayer Sager, which is as much Burt's record as it is Carole's. Only a few rare cuts to track down now...I was lucky to see Burt live a few years before his death. What a gentle, brilliant person!

Thank you very, very much to have included such a wonderful selection variation with some recordings unknown to US that always enriches the ample repertoire US already have from this magnificent music orchestrator, composer of music of distinct styles, which often US reproduce in karaokes amplifiers, with a micro myself with my voice accompanying, which US have sang and rehearsed many times already, that we shall not get tired unto repeating and repeating over and over and again. US were chosen bei profesor 'Moises' Esc(anciano), as a child tenor and counter tenor alto or falsete in the choir of boys, so for US can only derive great satisfaction when singing Burt Bacharach's beautiful, mos(tve)xciting, recordings. Thanks a lot again!

Then in in the middle of the same decade, some artists in UK, like Oasis or Blur, claim at which point he is important. Just after, an Easy Listening revival arrive, then Austin Powers, and the legend start to live....

Apart from his natural good looks, Burt's father (whose name was *Bert* Bacharach) wrote a book on male grooming. And when Burt was touring as musical director for Marlene Dietrich, she gave him extra advice about looking dapper, and gave him one of her scarves, which he treasured and wore often. She told him always to look "impeccably disheveled". He had excellent guidance. A very handsome fellow indeed, right up until the end.

It has been 14--almost 15 months since we lost Burt, and I still cannot believe that he is gone. I was nine years old when I first heard 'Tower of Strength" by Gene McDaniels on my Mother's old Motorola kitchen radio on WAKE radio in Atlanta. He was the soundtrack of my life, and I became a devoted fan following his Oscar win for "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid nine years later. I wrote him a fan letter, not expecting to receive a response. Well, several weeks later, I received a letter from him---not a form letter, mind you, but typed and signed by him. I could not believe what I was reading. He was so kind and humble. I called myself putting away that letter for safekeeping, but ended up losing it when I moved with my parents across town. I looked everywhere for it, but to no avail. I don't know what happened to it, but I will always cherish its memory.

Came a new genre of music in the mid to late 60`s. It was called 'NOT R&R, NOT R&B'. Even as the tidal wave of R&R and R&B was engulfing popular music, to the delight of the baby-boomers, the pre baby-boomers and even some of the older baby-boomers were just not diggin it. Bacharach and David, Alpert and Moss, Englebert, The Carpenters, Tom Jones, and other less prominent acts, they mined that vein of unacceptance. What Bacharach did was not so great in and of itself. After all, they were the same basic 3 verse songs with a chorus between each verse, that Tin Pan Alley had been putting out for decades. The greatness of them was in juxtaposition to the new stuff that was simultaneously coming along, 'Walk on By' versus 'InAGaddaDaVida BABY!', 'Close to You' versus 'Hey Jude'. You see my point............

Bacharach's recordings of his own songs are _mostly_ unequaled. There are only two covers I can think of which eclipse the originals: Close to You (Carpenters) and I Say a Little Prayer (Aretha). Both were originally recorded by Dionne Warwick, with Burt arranging and producing, and those versions are still great. The reason Dionne Warwick's Bacharach cuts are so brilliant is because they were (mostly) produced and arranged by the man himself. He regarded Dionne as his primary interpreter for good reason - she could deliver those serpentine melodies effortlessly. You need to be something of a vocal athlete to handle something like "Do you know the way to San Josë?" Burt wanted Gene Pitney to be his primary male voice interpreter, but for contractural reasons, only managed to get a couple of cuts recorded. A handful of other artists had the privilege of singing Burt's songs with him producing (Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield, Elvis Costello etc.), and frankly, those songs are their best work. How many other pop composers played with time signatures the way he did and make it sound natural every time? Just throwing in a 3 beat or 2 beat measure during a 4 beat song. He did this quite often. It takes real skill and confidence to do that. The end section of "Anyone who had a heart" is in 13/8. It's bonkers, but sounds like honey. Certainly one of the most sophisticated pop composers of all time, way up there with George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Antonio Carlos Jobim. An artist with real depth and range, real sensitivity and richness. RIP Burt. You cast a long shadow.
