Beautiful guitar! The pickups sure did do the trick too!

It's a really good sounding Greco, pretty much every PAF like pickup works well with it.

I recently bought this guitar. Pretty sure they're Dry pickups but I've heard Double trick are a possibility. I've had many good, but not great Gibsons. This guitar is amazing.

You mean you bought a similar one, right? This one is still with me. In this video I used just an old set of SD Alnico's, nothing too fancy. If the wood has "IT", the guitar will sound great with almost any low-output PAF-type humbuckers in my experience. You can color the tone and EQ with changing pickups, but they won't magically transform a guitar.

@@qua7771 I actually traded it along with some other items for some Warrior guitars. The eg59/70 was the thing I miss the most. But getting new Warriors is hard to pass. I got lucky a local store had a container come in so I bought some and could physically play them. Otherwise just Reverb or Google I guess

@@Guitar_MagicI agree. I have a 1988 EG59-70 on the way. It has the original pickups which should be DRY '82's. I hope it's a keeper. I hadn't heard any complaints about these Greco's.

You really captured the chirpiness and double tone of those vintage '58-'60 Bursts. Superb tone. How does it compare to your CS Gibsons?

Partly true. The history is pretty interesting. The late descendants of the renaissance painter and sculpture - El Greco - established the manufactory in the 20th century when they sailed out to Japan after World War 1 to introduce the Flamenco guitar to the Japanese audience.

Well, I suppose that kinda depends on when & where it was made. When they were both being made in Japan, very similar.

The Love Rock doesn't disappoint. This is certain. Nor do Greco's EG guitars. But with Tokai in particular, they've been made all over the place. & I'm kinda assuming one means with an open book headstock, this changes too. I suppose, hence the lawsuit.

Some of the later Greco's with no serial were made in the Tokai plant if you cannot decide (circa '88-89).

What's kinda interesting about that is, I used to have a Tokai Love Rock, with no serial number on it. No country of origin either. They sure are made, all over the place. But this one actually had an open book headstock.

Not a great sound TBH ImHo, very shrill, my Gibson standard 1986 sounds better and CS 58 , 2002 sound far better, it looks good but when it comes to sounds it just doesn’t have the presence of any Gibson I have owned IMHO just like all the Gibson versus Greco videos

I have to disagree. Firstly, this is not a comparison video therefore you have no base of justification. I uploaded comparisons of this guitar against various R8 and R9 models and it held its own pretty well (sayin this as a huge vintage and CS Gibson fan). This guitar is just a hell of a good LP. from a n era when Gibson was in deep sh*t. It's true that Gibsons have more presence in general (South-Central vs African Khaya mahogany) but not always. This one had more bite than the majority MIJ LPs. It was a great specimen.

I don't think Greco still make Les Paul-style guitars like this one. It's an old guitar and there were lawsuits back in the day.
