My 2017 ford ranger is doing this, very high pitch whistle! I'm just waiting for my replacement hose which is coming in the mail today

I know this is an older upload but I have been searching for weeks to find a solution! I've had 3 separate mechanics look at me like I'm mad when trying to get them to take me seriously. One tried to tell me it was just tyre noise, another told me today that all Rangers sound like that (in his words, like a council bus) and another told me I might need a new wastegate?!. Each time I got more embarrassed and frankly p*ssed off at the obvious muck around! Not to mention the noise that has been driving me mad and progressively getting louder under light acceleration (it seems to stop when at WOT) but still happens when touching the accelerator at any driving speed. As soon as the sun comes up I'm going to check my hoses. I'm not very mechanically minded but I seriously was made to feel stupid for even suggesting my ute didn't sound like that a few weeks ago. I reckon even I can have a go at fixing this myself! 2016 PX2 Ranger with 96,000km. Thank you for taking the time to make this video mate!

Did you notice your air intake sucked yr rag straight in lol.. You be like hang on a second, im sure i wasnt using my pants as an oil rag 2 minutes ago hahaha. Good video mate, its a very common issue with the 3.2s, so it will save a lot of people time and money, plus shows a handy way to deal with old rags and save our land fill 😂🤣

Thanks for tutoring of how to replace the air-cooled tube, super!!!. I have two questions, 1. How to replace the actuator at the rear boot of 2019 ford Everest.It keeps on making noise while driving. 2.I bought a 2017,BT 50 auto SLE with 97000km and it shows a full service history, however the power steering is hard.Is it normal for it to be so? When I compare it to the Everest there is a great difference.What could be the problem.It showed a drive train light one since I bought it in March 01.Please advice

No sorry mate.

I can't see a split or anything in my intercooler pipe. It sounds like one of those party favours - the one where paper rolls out when you blow it. Could the split be hidden?

Hey Kirsty, yes the split can be hidden underneath the rubber banding around the pipe. I had to cut mine off to reveal the split.

@@venturingfour Thanks for responding, I did manage to move both rubber bands and I still can't see anything. It only makes the noise when it's engaged and driving, not if I rev it. I will try and get some soapy water and see if there are any bubbles.

@@Kirstyization you will probably have to squeeze the pipe together to see the split. It would be easier to take the pipe off and have a good all round look. 👍

I just had my 2018 75,000km Ranger in to the Ford dealer for an expensive warranty claim for an apparent noisy gearbox. As soon as they heard it, they knew that it was actually the exact same issue of a blown intercooler pipe and had it replaced within the hour free of charge.

Man I'm having the same , 2018 ford ranger with about 70k km and noise...mechanic can't find the problem, no power loss etc...all ok ...wtf

@@NomadByFate you often can't actually see any issues with the flexible top intercooler pipe even though there might be a hairline split in it. Its only noticeable when you put your foot down. They diagnosed mine within seconds and simply replaced the intercooler pipe.

Was there any oil coming out of the crack in the hose or inside the old hose?

@@venturingfourmine is making the exact same nose, i looked at my intercooler pipe and can see a tiny bit of oil or something coming from the mesh area, definitely a split or something in my pipe too
