Harmon stoves BURN everything!!! love the video, thank you. In my area today (4-7-2022) could not find pellets? still cold at night here in New England (New Hampshire) so I bought a few bags of pelletized bedding for horses and small animals, from my local Tractor Supply store. burning them now in my Harmon Invincible pellet stove. plus I have a parrot, and I have been tossing his food scraps (seeds, empty shell husks) he does not eat into the hopper to burn. have done that for years. Harmon's Burn EVERYTHING. great video, Idea. Thank you very much!! thanks, Thumbs Up Rdownergarage...

Just a suggestion. If you get the chance to get some wood fuel blocks at a cheap price, try cutting them into 2x2 or 2x3 or even 2 x4 pieces. I had some given to me. I can add a 2x4 piece to my stove just before I shut my auger off and can put another piece on top of it every 30 minutes. It’s just enough heat to keep the chill out of the house on cool (not cold) mornings sometimes I can find the wood fuel blocks cheaper than a bag of pellets. Just wanted to give you some more ideas for possible future videos

Re burning sticks, what I do in the spring is make bundles with pencil-size sticks then use a thin one to wrap the bundle. Takes less time than driving to the dump and back. In the summer I use two of these bundles to warm the box of my Invicta wood stove before I throw the logs in. I am about to install a Q-Lima pellet stove in the workshop just because I am a sucker for a remote control! 🙈😂🤣 Best wishes from an Englishman making armour in a French forest. 🇬🇧🌞🇺🇲

That looks like our p61A. It's not our stove, it's our furnace. Heats three split levels at 2300 sqft. I believe the auger snaps pellets so they don't jam. If a stick got jammed, that could be a pain to clear.

I have heard bark produces more ash than wood even though it does burn well. I think to make it a worth while adventure short of the adolescent labor issue one would have to create a stick chopper. Cutting sticks green would dry faster and be easier to cut with a shear cut device like an old school paper cutter with a wall to set the pellet length. Maybe power that with some sort of crank and flywheel combo running off a low power electric motor and a sewing machine type pedal switch to be most efficient. I just cannot imagine cutting 4 tons of sticks a season but if you have already logging on your woodlot and practice coppicing as a forest management effort it could be possible. Just seems going with wood or corn is a less labor intensive endeavor. Sell the sticks on Etsy to crafters and buy a chainsaw.

I wonder if you could conceivably make a machine, similar to a mulched, but that basically makes the cuts to the sizes needed for a pellet stove... Would still be labor intensive, unless of course you are mulching branches anyway (we don't mulch but we burn lots in our fire pit as we live in the edge of a state forest). Even if you're not heating the house with the majority of your fuel being sticks, it seems like you could certainly offset some costs and out the sticks you labor into cleaning up to good use. I'm guessing none of this would be ore focal from a monetary perspective. But it would still be neat to see.

I am a pellet fire technician, im 100% certain this will eventually jam up your auger system if it is continuously used this way. Pellets break up into sawdust in the auger feed, sticks will break up into wood chips and jam up alot quicker.

Depending on the type of wood maybe, but im sure thats one good way to absolutely wreck ur burn pot quickly, and also the inside of ur auger system will fill up with hard wood chips/bark rather then softer sawdust from pellets which will cause jamming and also strain on ur auger motor. Pellets are specifically made to decrease these problems lol. Hats off to your commitment of chopping those sticks though lol but i recommend to not do this.
