    We lost my daughter this past Thanksgiving from brain cancer and her mural was in the temple this year even though she wasn’t able to be there in person and neither was I. Thank you for this is was the best and truest view of this year’s burning man and I wish I could have been there! 🎉

    What a wonderful find! I'd seen one of your videos last year when you were trekking somewhere in the desert alone but I had forgotten to subscribe then and had since forgotten your name. So thrilled to have found you again and really enjoyed watching this particular video since you described everything so perfectly with your sense of humor and individual style. I think your analysis of this year's Burning Man is the best and most accurate one. Thank you so much! I really had fun with this one. And it looks like you did too.

    The difference in most other individual's videos is they did just clips of this mess and that mess, and don't have the experience of scripting a full feature 'documentary' video like she does. And of course the news is limited to showing the worst in less than 2 minutes.

One especially wanted to rant over drugged hippies and made up his tales out of the material he could gather, others wanted drama or apocalypse and picked their footage accordingly.

    I remember when week long winter electric outages were pretty common in our rural community. Most people were pretty well prepared and expected it. The recent arrivals might freak out a little but quickly realized it really wasn't a serious problem. There was plenty of supplies to go around. If a big tree fell and blocked the road people would arrive with chainsaws and the road would be reopened quickly. A lot of us kind of looked forward to it. Seems like the news media wanted to turn this years Burning Man into a major disaster but for many of the attendees it was anything but a tragedy.

  • @jazzcatt

    @jazzcatt

    10 ай бұрын

    The thing is, the news was actually telling the truth. Yes, vehicles were badly stuck in the mud, especially the idiots that tried to drive through 4 to 6 inches of surface water, not knowing how thick and deep the mud underneath was! They did it to themselves after being told to stay in place. The ones without food and water were being supported by the ones like Sarah, who truly understand the concept of self reliance and impromptu kitchens set up by Burners. Yes, there was some stealing of food and water by jerks that don't understand what self reliance means. You carry MUCH more than you need, and are ready for anything and everything the desert can, and does, throw at you. When you leave, and go through the reservation, you donate your unopened, unused, extra food to the 'food bank' on the res. Burners feed a lot of hungry Paiute people with those donations!

I remember the first Burning Man, and the drive was really cool greeting folks on the road, stopping and talking, cheering each other on, all so epic. Since I live in Nevada, this time of year is special with the almost journal to Burning Man Mecca travelers and the really cool ones sharing, very energizing and calming type of chill experience. Always look forward to it and them. I'm so glad (and relieved) that everything turned out to be A-okay for you and that all was not lost with the torrential rains and flooding and most of all: there was the BURN of The Man and also the Temple. It was awesome to finally meet you and chat a bit at the burn earlier in the week! I was looking forward to this video! It was a weird burn, but awesome! After 10 years, I felt the same about it feeling very "normal" and not as magical in some ways when I first got on playa, but the rain stirred things up a bit! It was uncomfortable at moments, but being stuck in that situation with actual burners is probably one of the best groups to be with - generally prepared, going with the flow (ha!) and willing to push through to the other side.

    That was a wonderful story. I love the positivity. I figured that you would love it when the rain came. I am glad that only the die hards would stay for the rest of the festival. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. When given rain, make mud art.

    We were neighbors this year! Meant to come find your camp but, well, we lost a couple days and there were at least 2, maybe 3, distractions :). Also - I ran into The Tuba Guy that night! It was 3am or so, and I was having miso at that camp across from Pink Heart & the Hotel Lobby, and he and his friend walked by. I said hey there's Miso over here, come on in, and his friend tried to drag him over, but he said "Noooo I have to stay moving!" so they kept on walking, and he kept tuba-ing, and I kept being moved like crazy by...everything. Then I walked along with my umbrella, got happily disoriented in the rainy muck, and found a hopping party under a tent structure with catered food being given. This was THE best story about burning man, and expresses EXACTLY my feels about it in every way. Thanks!

    The NEWS IS TERRIBLE!! I laughed when they said people are running out of food and water within a couple days. These people were going for a WEEK and USUALLY in the HOT HEAT. They should have brought enough food and water for that. WHY would they run out so soon when the weather was cooler? SO HAPPY you are safe and had an INTERESTING historical burning man. Glad to finally hear from you!!

    I’m a corporate pilot and had several calls to come rescue stranded campers at burning man. The money was 4 and 5 times normal rates but I wasn’t taking a chance getting stuck in the mud on the airfield in a 7 million dollar plane in addition passengers tracking mud and dust on the seats and carpet. I could have chartered an older aircraft and had it detail cleaned at the rates people we willing to pay but it wasn’t worth the hassle. Hope everyone gets home we safe.
