​@@carlinkag2525 There was an incident where Geralt (the witcher he is singing about) basically had to kill some people (they were attacking him, to be fair). Including a girl he didn't want to kill at all. The mage of that village turned an entire village on Geralt and made him out to be a mindless murderer. That village was Blaviken, and thus "Butcher of Blaviken". The entire incident was something painful for Geralt, and the name was even more painful. He punched Jaskier (Joey Batey's character) in the gut just for mentioning the nickname. They had a bit of a breakdown in their friendship (it was Geralt at fault) and then Jaskier wrote this song about his feelings.

We need more songs from Jaskier in season 3!

the movements that this song goes through are brilliant. the true story does not lie in what he says, but how he says it 0:00 - a performance of scripted lyrics 1:13 - an interlude to the crowd 1:20 - when he comes back, he begins to get after it, and his true emotions bubble to the surface 1:50 - he tries to convince himself that he hates Geralt 2:13 - he starts to realize it's a lie. in truth, his anger is just a function of sadness, loneliness, and longing for his best friend

That's what I also thought.. this song isn't a typical rap/hip-hop music that I usually listen, but it still makes me interested! I don't believe I actually like a song from a TV Series (although there are many good one out there), but this one's different. Turns out, I like his PERFORMANCE when singing it! That Julian Alfred Pankratz gravestone is genius.

The little details of "Title ideas" were so accurate with Jaskier's character. It perfectly illustrates the fact that he and Geralt are so important to each other, and seeing the transition from this to "BURN BUTCHER, BURN!" witnesses the fact that Jaskier's wound from their separation never healed Props to the motion design team !

There are not enough songs about getting screwed in friendship. Love this song! Grateful it exists.

It hits harder when you think that 'Butcher' is probably the worst insult Geralt gets. The whole backstory with it makes it hit so much harder.

I just wanted to tell you - that he sang the whole scene live, it was one take. The set was actually outside and everyone was freezing, you can see Jaskiers breath and everyone shivering in the background. This video is the exact right amount of drama to fit Jaskier and it is bEAUTIFUL.

I can't believe he got over this heartbreak so quickly as soon as he laid eyes on Geralt in that cell, and then he spent the rest of the season serving as comic relief and barely being addressed. To me it kind of felt like a disservice to his character, considering how incredibly hard this song goes.

The way you can feel his agony through the whole song, especially at the end, kills me. I love how with the ending, you can tell he's not as over Geralt as he claims. And they're reuniting just confirms that when we see Jask's anger just drain out of him the first time he sees Geralt again. 💔

While watching season 2 i constantly felt that i was missing something. When Yennefer was told about the sandpiper, i thought meh, another new character. And then i heard his voice and damn it felt good, like everything had clicked back into place. This song is a marvel.

His last line of just defeated sadness always gets me 😭

RIP witcher netflix. Cavill will be missed

What i love the most about this song is the way the melody progresses: it feels like a fire burning rapidly and violently for a very brief but a hugely intense moment just to leave nothing behind at the end!

At the end of season 2 , I screamed when Jaskier appears with this hit song. I can’t wait to see more of him in season 3.

Love the disappointment and hurt in this song! Especially when you think of how close Jaskier and Geralt are, and how he must know how much pain it brings Geralt to be called the Butcher of Blaviken, a title that he HATES! And he deliberately calls him Butcher, like when you lash out at a loved one and call them something you don't mean at all. Love it

Jaskier is a great character, hands down. He really knows how to lighten up the mood for the characters and viewers alike.

He told me that maybe the way was not the best but he was glad to have the "strengh" to do it. Now I wait to stop dreaming of him, being a dark heart assh***...... I would like to totally forget him.

I've heard lots of covers already, but none of them is as good as Jaskier interpretation. He was so brokenhearted by his Witcher that "the burn" feels real. I love the song, just as much as "toss a coin". Well done, the whole crew. 💗

I can´t yet judge Liam Hemsworth, but no other actor could lead a whole emotional outrage with a single "Fuck". That one word was used sparsely and every time Geralt used it, it completely described his emotional state and thoughts to the point. I also love how the whole thing turned to a more wholesome family life for a while but the moment the stress came back they realised how they ignored each other´s worse character traits.

Frankly I wouldn't have looked at Henry Cavill as a good Geralt but he was great. Liam Hemsworth might also do the character justice.

This track is much more complex than Toss .... And probably even more memorable than the previous super hit. Really great melody and simply brilliant performance. A combination of an actor's song and a dynamic ballad? :) Regards

As much as I love Geralt and Yennifer, Jaskier makes Season 2 with this performance!!

Jaskier is EVERYTHING! What a great comedy relief. I love his relationship with Geralt and Yen.

The moment I heard that the Sandpiper would take them after the performance and then heard faint singing, oh be still my heart!

Anyone else here after Henry announced he was stepping down as Geralt? My dissapointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined :(

This song randomly popped into my head today and I was damn near screaming “burn butcher, burn” my entire drive home.

Man, they're making me grow expectations that all the witcher's seasons will have 1 or 2 amazing musics from Jaskier.

Man's heart was literally torn out and put DEEP into this song. I can't get enough. It never gets old and his high notes are IMMACULATE! And I thought Toss A Coin To Your Witcher was good. TOPS my millions.

My teacher played this in class we were joking about when he said "your stupid hair" but I love this song so much!

Jaskier is such a drama queen, I love it.

I think we all need a whole album of Jaskier....

Listening to real music in a modern TV show is so unexpected and refreshing that The Witcher is my favorite show now.

I feel the simgs Jasiker sings really show how he is the one with the power to change Geralts imagine how he wants. He " humanised " Geralt in " Toss a coin to your witcher " but now he is angry by Geralt he writes a song calling him a butcher again

when he realised he was lying to himself at the end. you really feel how much he truly cared for Garelt. He just wants his best friend. he wants to despise and hate garelt for how he left him but he cares to much for him. Garelt clearly cares for Jaskir as well. they both care but would hate to admit it

😭 had to come here and hurt with Jasiker after hearing that Henry will no longer be Geralt. Netflix and Witcher will now Burn 🔥 It won't be the same without Henry. This was the only good show Netflix had going for its self.
