    You should be focused on the mindset and technique of the perps. The police work that way too. It's the best thing to do. Know your enemy. This also counts for any other case where you're up against someone.

    My home was ALMOST robbed last year. I was the only one home, there were no cars in our driveway. I was actually chilling in the living room, lights off just on my phone. I saw the guy come up to the door, he was looking for keys in the mail box which is where we kept the keys sometimes (had one less key than people). So he must have been spying on us for a while...Anyway there was no key that day, so I got up and knocked on the door from the inside and he ran away so quickly.

    A very dangerous profession. A lot of people don't answer the door even when they' re at home if they see someone they don't know. Would be easy to walk in on someone with a gun close by. Then the BEST outcome for the burglar is lying face down while waiting foe the cops.

  • @just82much72

    @just82much72

    6 жыл бұрын

    Bubba Blackmon : Very true. I never answer the door. If someone is knocking on my door, I won't answer, just sit quietly listening for walking on our pea gravel that runs the length of both sides of the house. If that rusty old gate creaks followed by footsteps on the gravel........ That's when I run as fast as possible upstairs and try to punch in the safe code correctly so I can grab a shotgun. Hopefully I can stumble downstairs before the perp has all of my shit loaded in his truck and is pulling away...

I'm all about being prepared and protecting my family, but comfort and reality have to factor into the situation too. Personally, I lean towards being comfortable after after a long days work... The LAST thing I want to do after a long day at work is strap a heavy ass, bulky, cumbersome war-belt with pistol to my hip.. But thats just my preference? To each their own. ..? -Mark

    My family's house growing up had a huge, wide-open front yard that my dad spent what seemed like every weekend mowing with a wide porch in front, plainly visible from the road, while our immediate neighbors' house had four or five massive trees in the front yard and a porch that was really high up with steps to it, not on the same level as the street really. These neighbors had their house broken into twice in a span of six years, before they moved out and went to a northern state, while our house was never once so much as trespassed in the 15+ years I lived there. I guess I know why now.

    Not by random burglars - the majority of them just want things they can throw in a duffle bag or your own pillow case taken off your bed. Cash, jewelry, small guns, laptops, cell phones, etc. Things they can sell quick. Not many burglars want to carry around a flat screen TV. So you yank a TV off the wall, damage the mounting screws and tear-up the back panel and then sell it for what? This video was about solo, random burglars looking for a quick hit.

At first i thought that it might be a cat but after i heard a loud metal noise that hit the ground i knew it was a burglar. He must have dropped or broken his breaking-in tools.I jumped out of my bed,got a bat and went after the guy but the door was locked with the key inside. Looks like the key saved him from an asswoopin`.

    He's very professional. Great analysis of the houses & made a lot of good points for me to learn from. I love this video for how honest he seems in front of the camera. Usually these guys would blur out faces and change voices but this one didn't hahaha... He's a clever crook. My dog would see him walk in & just play with him ... the other barky one would happily accept treats from him as bribery to shut up. We have a huge mail box that needs a lock to open that probably can't be filled too easily within a week or two of being gone (maybe if we're planning to be gone for 3 weeks+ then will ask someone to grab our mail)- Thought of getting high fences to prevent coyotes from jumping over but now gonna keep them low since they can jump over 8 feet anyway!!! (low fence deter theft) we have cameras all around (probably deters them bc they notice those cams)- our neighbors were robbed.. they avoided our side of cameras though.. (out neighbors have low fence too) but.they went in the other side.. of their home.. I saw cops in the replay video but can't spot out the thief!! Guess we're not getting rid of our alarm system.. but would love to save the monies!! :[

    The psychological damage this man has done to his victims he is obviously unaware. It never goes away and all family members suffer for life at various levels. Be aware that also many break-ins are inside jobs, people you know have done it and it will be obvious if you think about the details. There undetectable traps that can be set and undetectable after they are triggered as well. And then there are pitbull terriers who are loving dogs but not to intruders. There will be DNA left behind.

    To REALLY protect your home, *1.* Get longer and thicker strike plates. This spreads the impact from kicks over a larger area and it takes a LOT more kicks and more powerful kicks to break the door and door jam. *2.* Replace the screws in your strike plates with 3 inch long screws {instead of short screws that come with regular locks}, this makes the strike plates hold up a LOT longer as the screws are MUCH deeper in the wood frame. Also, *3.* "beware of dog" signs out front and on fences leading to your back yard *does* deter a large number of people. Dogs bark, dogs bite, many people are afraid of dogs and no one wants that hassle. *4* Keep the front of your house clear of bushes etc. all the way to the street. *5.* Use wood to place in sliding window tracks. {vertical or horizontal} Make SURE you tell your family this and go over how to lift the wood up etc. in case of fire. VERY simple stuff here people. VERY cheap and EASY ways to really lower the chance of being targeted. I worked for ADT for many years as a salesman, This simple stuff is 95% of the battle. Another simple thing but does cost some money is "window film" it is glued to the inside of the window and when the window is being smashed etc. The glass stays mostly in one piece and you have to hit and hit and hit to make a hole but still it's a small holes and there is broken glass all around it etc. No one will spend minutes making all that noise while seeing how tiny a hole they're making. Also ALWAYS look through the peep hole before opening the door. You can also talk through the door, NO need to open it. If they are selling something etc. Tell them "I'm not interested, please leave". You would be SUPER surprised how many robbers get in the front door, just by knocking and then the door opens. Be safe, think this over and do what you can, all of this is EASY and CHEAP. You and your family deserve to live in reasonable safety.

    The number of people carrying around power tools to break into homes is extremely low. You can't fortify your house like a prison. You can only do so much. Slowing down 100% of people is all you can do really. Use deterrents like signage, flood lights, get a security system etc. Then strengthen doors and windows {you can have a thick film applied to windows to make them much harder to smash through} to slow burglars down to the point they make so much noise or take so long to get in, that they give up. If someone shows up with a wrecking ball, so be it. You can't make your house a prison.

    I do too, but you're all talk like everyone else. Everyone who says things like that changes their mind if the person is their family or friend. It's like Narcan - the drug that saves heroin addicts' lives when they overdose. Now, no one in their right mind would give a rats ass if a heroin addict dies since they contribute nothing to society and usually make it worse. But since so many people have children who are heroine addicts these days, they support the use and manufacturing of drugs like Narcan, even though their children are no-good idiots who chose to do drugs and are now stealing shit from other people and their own parents to get their fix.

    Seriously... lol... this ex-burglar didn't say anything extraordinary. It is commonsense. It doesn't matter who... they will always look for the WEAKEST ENTRY POINT of YOUR HOUSE. Plus, you NEED to keep all of your doors and windows shut and LOCKED at all time, unless there are a lot of people at home throughout the house. People breaking in don't have concern for the people inside. If he or she has to take you out to get to all of your valuables, THEY WILL and won't give it a second thought.

Under $1000 you can have Basic security system with cameras that are motion/temperature/light changes activated that records to the Cloud. Additionally most have ability to Text or Notify the home owner on Mobile. Bedroom is where items with more value or guns are stored. I'm glad to have a discussion with a paid astroturfer for Federal Barnes Hollowpoint Slugs! Its very obvious you are paid to promote Federal Barnes Hollowpoint Slugs! because you use the full name of Federal Barnes Hollowpoint Slugs! the full product name and continue to respond to this thread! How much do you get paid to astroturf for Federal Barnes Hollowpoint Slugs! ?
