Burden of Proof | Official Trailer | HBO

Ойын-сауық

When 15-year-old Jennifer Pandos went missing in 1987, her parents told everyone she ran away. Decades later, her brother Stephen begins a relentless odyssey in search of the truth. His investigation into the case threatens to destroy his family as he becomes strongly convinced that his parents are both implicated in the crime. As time passes, more threads unravel and new evidence comes to light, Stephen starts to question everything he has come to believe. Burden of Proof premieres June 6, only on Max.

Stephen, the most malevolent individual in this documentary apart from Jennifer's killer, has inflicted immense harm and suffering upon his parents. Rather than seeking the truth about his sister, his sole objective was to exact vengeance upon his parents. He selectively listened only to those who shared his views, disregarding even his own lawyer's doubts about the reliability of the lie detector test. Despite his mother's numerous efforts over the years to demonstrate her innocence, Stephen demanded one thing she couldn't provide: a fabricated confession that his father murdered Jennifer. Remarkably, his mother preserved all the evidence for decades. Had she been the author of the ransom note, she would have surely disposed of it instead of handing it over to Wendi, the lazy and hasty police officer who jumped to incorrect conclusions and failed to locate the case file. While Stephen claims that his father was physically abusive towards him as a child, the harm he has inflicted upon his father through his actions surpasses any previous acts of physical violence. Furthermore, Stephen has also harmed his own daughters by denying them the opportunity to have a relationship with their grandmother. Throughout the documentary, Stephen fails to offer any apologies to the individuals he has harmed.

If anyone ever wants to see how law enforcement completely drops the ball in an investigation and causes innocent people to be accused of a horrifying crime…make sure you watch this docu-series! A family completely ripped to shreds and a man giving up his life to find answers, all because “files got lost?” All Mr Pandos wants is an answer for what happened to his little sister… I hope that if I was ever the victim of a crime, I have someone in my corner that has the same courage as Stephen Pandos, because everyone else gave up! Law Enforcement needs to be held accountable for SO many major mistakes!

But were the case files really lost or did somebody make sure they stayed hidden all these years? They conveniently showed up after the former investigator reopened the case and the documentary crew started asking questions. And a lot of questions remained unanswered, in my opinion. Has the police ever dusted for prints or looked for blood on the furniture and on the floor in her room so that it could be excluded as a crime scene? Have they ever tracked vehicles belonging to the suspects at that time to look for blood. Did her former boyfriend have an alibi for that night? If she left the house or was abducted during the night maybe someone from inside the gated community was transporting her in their vehicle. Were there suspects from inside the gated community other than her parents that were investigated? When she ran away the previous time, how did she do it, where did she go?

Back to the case folks ! I suspect Jennifer wrote the note with her non dominant hand . The note mentions her doctor’s appt and sounds like a teenager. Letters between she & her boyfriend reveal she was distraught and wanted to get back at him. My guess is she left and sadly killed herself or was picked up at a truck stop. Either way she is likely no longer alive. The parents are so frustrating with their weird and passive behaviors.

Am on part 3 so I don't know final outcome but they keep saying them not calling police is weird, yet in the Jon Benet Ramsey people thought was strange they did!? The victims bro has been failed, when they found the case file,.the police said was good on one way but embarrassing in another. They should be sorry that this added to him and others jumping on bandwagon that the Mum knew something. Also very irresponsible with the use of polygraph tests. They are not accurate, cannot be used in court and are very much used to judge before actual proof, they may say this is not the case, but a suspect refusal absolutely creates a guilty judgement! They should not be used, in 50 years they'll look back and say how foolish, like how we do looking at investigations in history and how things they used to judge seem crazy!? The detail in the letter has many other explanations, than just get parents having wrote it. Investigators here absolutely had tunnel vision!!

***spoiler ****** Anyone else considered that Toby and Cori planned or did something? She may have written note with her non dominant hand, waited for Toby (because she was apparently looking out the window) and her friend said that Toby was the only one she'd go out for. Maybe he convinced her.. maybe he killed her because they were fighting and maybe she slapped him... or maybe Cori told him he better do something about Jennifer because she may have been humiliated that he was cheating on her with Jennifer. She ssys they sre friends, but Jenniferes friend said she hated Cori. So maybe Cori helped him and not his friend (when they mentioned how he could not have moved a body in that much liquid alone). It may have been a crime of teenage passion. Cori has her arms folded during a part of the interview. Her body language may suggest shes holding in a secret. The way toby down plays what they have. Sure, im married and moved on way Past my teenage sweetheart... but no matter how muvh time has passed, while i dont dwell on thr memories, should he have turned up missing and someone asked me years later, i would respectfully mention that we had some great momebts together and some chsllenging ones... the typical teenage love. Instead, he seemed afraid or closed off with his comment of "how long did you think we dated ?" And made it seem like nothing (in front of Cori) when letters suggested he ess totally in love with her. Thats just a theory i have. That Cori knows - as well- what happened.

@@ScrappyKitty15 Stephen, the most malevolent individual in this documentary apart from Jennifer's killer, has inflicted immense harm and suffering upon his parents.
