@Ainsley14868
Жыл бұрын
@@thepiglife2591 Zoomies are actually really good for bunnies! It’s fun for them! Also, some bunnies kept in small cages permanently don’t get to run around, so develop deformities. They can also become very bored when you don’t spend time with them because they can’t explore. (Unless you have multiple bunnies, but in that case they should be kept in a pretty large cage anyways) Some bunnies are safer in cages, but if they’re kept indoors in a bunny-proofed area then it’s perfectly fine! I actually keep my bunny in my room. At night and when I’m at school he’s in his cage so he doesn’t eat the carpet or something else, but whenever I can monitor him he’s out. It’s much more common for people to keep their bunnies part cage part free roamed rather than full cage or full free roamed.
@thepiglife2591
Жыл бұрын
@@Ainsley14868 Nothing is 100% bunny proofed so it's just a risk in general to free roam especially unsupervised. But yeah zoomies means they're happy but not healthy. A rabbit should never be freeroamed 24/7 or kept in a small cage 24/7 unless they're show rabbits, Breeding rabbits or meat rabbits which is what I would do.

I would never grab a rabbit like that!!! This is extremely nice of the skater to do this, I’m glad the rabbit didn’t kick him with his back legs and scratch his hands up when he grabbed him at the end. The rabbit was probably so tired and drained after being stuck that he didn’t fight it. We grab them with 2 hands. One hand, grabbing the ears, and the other hand grabs the lower back area above the tail. They can kick all they want at that point, and nobody gets hurt 😁

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that petting is considered a predator behavior in the animal world. Scratching at each other, clawing marks on trees, etc. Not something I think a lot of herbivors get up to socially. Really altered my view point when someone told me that.
@rachelcoad6585

Actually, bunny didn’t display signs of fear when it’s head was being pet, only when being picked up. Somehow she took comfort from the head pats which I think is a beautiful display of trust 😊 Edit: gentle, non-forced petting for rabbits is not stressful, it’s actually seen as grooming, which bonded rabbits do to each other to comfort one another. It is very calming and comforting for them. It looks like this man earned the rabbits trust by approaching calmly and not grabbing it or forcing it to accept contact. it was very well done I am very impressed and thankful to this kind man. 🥰

In this particular context, the wild bunny laid its head and body down flat to the ground. That means the bunny conceded defeat/surrendered and is begging for the “predator” to not hurt the bunny. In other cases where rabbits are not feeling threatened, laying flat down the exact same way in this video means the rabbit is relaxed. If you’re petting the bunny, that position also means “pet me more” At the end of the clip, you’ll notice the bunny “binkying” away. A sort of bounce or flick of its body in the air, means the bunny is happy/excited

@Ainsley14868

@thepiglife2591

Aww bless so sweet that bunny was so beautiful
I'm imagining the bunny thinking, "he sure is being too gentle to be a predator" and took a leap of faith to trust he was actually trying to help.

It’s interesting, I’ve had many small forest creatures begrudgingly trust me over the years because they didn’t have much choice. Or they had resigned themselves to the possibility of death. Interestingly, most of the birds I helped hung around with me for awhile before going back to freedom. However the raccoon I trapped to treat its eye infection was definitely not happy about lmao.

The rabbit didn't take a leap of faith. The rabbit was exhausted from running around in that bowl and being unable to escape or find somewhere to hide and it froze up when death was (seemingly) inevitable.

Thanks for translating Bunny 🐇🐰 I worked at an animal shelter for years and coums NEVER read the little boogers. I had categories. Sweet, neutral and Stomper If the actively sought attention, usually the babies, they were "sweet" If the just sat there and we're indifferent obviously they were "neutral" And if they popped their back legs like thunder claps, i learned "they don't want to be bothered" those were the stompers Luckily i interacted with the House Rabbit Society, and they SWORE bunnies were just like dogs But I could never read their faces like dogs so... Now from you..House Rabbit Society NEVER explained that bunnies have 'body' language
My man didn’t even look back😂

I wonder if you would think that if He grabbed him like a professionell by the neck. Always seems so aggressiv but it's actually the best method because they are very calm and cind of relaxed. They are also less likely to free themselfs wich reduces the probability to hurting themselfs.

A bird once got into the kitchen of my uni accommodation and because there were two windows but one didn't open, the bird kept trying to get out of the wrong one. It's (understandably) difficult to let a wild animal know that you're trying to help and don't mean them harm.

@@touchgrass7834 Not to mention the patient method actually stresses out the animal a lot more. The reason it lets itself be picked up is not because it came to trust the person, it is still frightened for its life, it just means it became absolutely exhausted. That's why professionals are less gentle, because time matters a lot.

@@drakebalzer2098 would've been smart to just find a box or something to cover it. maybe the darkness would've helped them be a little more calm and easier to transport. Usually if a wild rabbit gets to the point where you can grab it it means it probably died of a heart attack soon after relocation
@ossiehalvorson7702

@@ProfPrimeape They're not as fragile as people think. My cousin went and shot one in the eye with a pellet gun and she managed to survive. Brought her home and nursed her to health. She wasn't doing particularly well, but right at a scary point I gave her some dropper-fed sugar water and she perked right up. I held onto her for the next few weeks to let her heal. Eye was done for, but otherwise healed up and started eating solid food again and I was able to release her back into the wild near an aunt's rural house. Specifically saw her (easy to identify with one eye) around for a few years after that.

@Ash Doszczeczko a hare is slightly bigger with longer legs and a longer body, this means most of the time it can run faster. And a rabbit is normally smaller with smaller legs and does more of a hop to run and walk.

Hot tip for rescuing rabbits: they feel safer with their feet on something solid, so holding them with all four paws against your chest is the best way to lift them bodily, if you don’t have a box.
