Finally, after searching through all the BUJO videos I’ve finally found yours which is absolutely perfect. Your video is so good because you get right to the main points - the symbols, layout, what to capture, and how to use. You explain things very succinctly and super clearly. Very much appreciated!
Wow ... after 7 Years of watching Bulletjournal Videos and try it out a hundred times I finally come to your video and understand how BuJos really work.... Thanks a lot! 👍

THANK YOU SO MUCH. NOthing against our sisters who have great artistic talent and love to use stickers and drawings and make their journal into a great visual and artistic masterwork, that is not for me--perhaps not for men in general. THank you for showing a system that a man might find more suitable - nothing against our female counterparts.

I’m a girl who loves the artistic stuff but it can get overwhelming for anyone, this is the difference between bullet journalling and journalling in general, I’m actually going to have a small bullet journal like this for tasks and then an artistic journal/personalised handbook, my brain can’t do the artsy stuff mixed with efficiency, I’m too much of a perfectionist to use my artsy journal to jot down quick notes, and too chaotic minded to flip through a huge complex journal to find the simple everyday tasks, I admire those that can do both in the same journal 😂
Clearer than most explanations I've viewed - thank you.

Yes!!!!! The best feedback to get
Hands down the best tutorial bullet journal video I've ever seen! I've watched a ton of videos on this subject over the years and this video completely sets the tone for a useful tool that has structure and flexibility built in. Also, as a side note, I'm now prepping my third year BuJo; looking for ideas and methods to tailor my journal for positive outcomes. An analog space for clarity in a cluttered digital world. Your suggestions in this video really helped me. Thank you.

Ditto. My first Bujos were on old notebooks and so on, and while they weren’t pretty, they had all I needed. When someone gifted me up a decent enough journal, I sought the videos here in YT, and even those that are supposed to be “minimalist” require more effort and need waaay more drawing and lettering than I care to do. I actually became paralyzed for fear of messing up pretty pages, and stopped. Now I’m starting again. Tour video helps a lot, because its minimalism is true to the original.
The only video that made me love BuJo. Thank you so much

Extremely valuable video. Thank you for showing how you can do multiple days in one page. Specially useful for "chill days" where you don't have a lot of tasks. I also really like the idea of a monthly spread with days in a list in one side and projects/tasks in the other.

That makes me so happy to hear! You just have to start and it will take you from there. Once you have the basics down, it's so much fun... but so is learning the basics :-)
I have been interested to try working with a bullet journal for the past few years but have never taken the leap. Ryder has, of course, made similar "how to" videos, but yours goes into it a bit more intentionally and it is very helpful. Thanks!

Thank you for watching
This is the best understandable explanation I have found and I have watched and searched tons of minimalistic (supposedly) videos. I am saving this one. Trying to bullet journal, I personally have found it frustrating to have like things separated, to have everything mixed together, like collections scattered amongst calendar/daily pages, etc. So I decided for me it has to be in a ring binder rather then a bound book. (Even though I'm left-handed. I just turn the binder to a bit of an angle and write with a back slant on pages to the right of the rings, or remove them to write. But I have to back slant on pages on the right side in bound journals anyway.) What I'm doing is rather a hybrid between a traditional monthly weekly planner for events, and bullet journaling daily pages and collections, trackers, etc. This video is going to help me move further away from the traditional planner. I will still keep collections separate. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this perfect intro video..

I'm so happy that this was helpful for you. And your method sounds awesome and I love that you are making it your own and making it work for you! Depending on how mayn pages you need, there are some cool binders like Plotter that have small rings that have helped with being a lefty. But if you method is working, go with it. I also just saw a ring binder that only clips and the top and bottom and it makes the whole center part more open. Us lefties need options.

I think it's important to say that it s not required by the BUJO method to keep migrating uncompleted tasks to the next daily. I do it when I want to do that task after I reviewed my last few dailies for any uncompleted task

Thanks for checking out the video. You are correct, not required. But I’ve fond personally that it can be helpful. You can also keep things running for your week or page and then migrate when you’ve moved pages. I’ve struggled with out of sight out of mind - so this has helped me be successful.
Thanks, you got met started today.

That's the best thing I have heard all day! So glad that it was helpful
The only place where a daily log kinda fails me is delegated and waiting for tasks. For those I create a "waiting for collection." If I delegate something open ended it usually doesn't fit i within a linear daily log. I learned this trick by adapting David Allen's Getting Things Done methodology. 😉

Awesome video. Thanks for posting this. I’ve got a digital notebook (Supernote A5x) on the way and I’m going to stand up a Bullet Journal in it once it arrives. Thanks for keeping this clean and focusing on method rather than aesthetics. It’s great to see I don’t need to be a doodling and calligraphy expert to make use of this system. What are your thoughts on work/personal items? In this example your (seemingly) work related email was along side washing the dog and you brother’s birthday. Do you recommend running one journal that holistic or multiple based around work/personal?
@markyourpages
2 жыл бұрын
That Supernote A5x looks pretty cool! I've always wanted to give one of those types of "notebooks" a try. As for the approach to mixing work and life, I have found it personally easier to keep it all together. I only just recently separated my social media from my bullet journal - and it's not horrible, but keeping 2 different notebooks can be hard. Follow up and let me know how you like Supernote A5x.
Just what I was looking for, all the others were looking like art project 😂😂

That's awesome. Hope it is helpful!
I bought the book a few years ago, even did the set up once, but then never used it! Determined to try again. My brain has trouble diferenciating between Tasks & Events. I don't know why ☹️ Like if i have to go to the drs.. its something I have to do, so is it a task or an event? Also watching this after not looking at any bujo stuff for a long time, I'm confused about migrating and whether back or forward. You say migrate back to the future, so if i dont get it done this month i need to migrate back to the next month... But you also say if i dont get something done today, i need to migrate it forward to tomorrow? At least i think thats what you said? So how is the future both back & forward? 🤔
What do you do when you want to move an event several days ahead, but not a month ahead? Keep moving it forward one day ahead every day?
@markyourpages
Ай бұрын
If I just rapid logging / daily logging I will make a note or hit the date next to it to remember but not move it day to day. It really depending on how much your write. I’ve found that if you need to play ahead, a quick weekly view can be helpful.
Another question: My organization lives and dies by our Gsuite calendars so all of our meetings and tasks that take up a lot of time are expected to be in that system. This helps keep us all coordinated and productive and makes it easy to know what your peers are up to at any given point. My question is: Would it be recommended to also have all of that information in the bullet journal? Or, does the journal become more of a detail oriented to-do list and notes while the calendar houses the events? What’s the best practice of using both concurrently?
@markyourpages
2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I too work in a digitally focused workspace where tech is heavily used this way. I like to think about my Bullet Journal as my own personal todo list and space. I do work between both spaces so that I am not keeping my team in the dark, but I also dont like to have to always be in a screen to do my work. I think finding the balance is good. I also think that having a morning and evening routine to review your bujo and your digital spaces can be a good way to start and end a day and keep them working together.

Haha. I wanted to do more with it, but i thought it would be overkill
At around 8:38 you made a page for a month with one line for each day. What is the purpose for this? One line for each day doesn't seem to allow much detail for each day.
@markyourpages

This can be used as a way to plan in your month for reminders or dates. Some people also use this as a space to write down what has happened in a Day vs what will happen.
