Hey! My mom used to manage this place before I was born! Actually, she met my father there when he was hired on as entertainment. Her name then was Janet nave or Janet hunter. Also, her brother, my uncle Leland Nave, was the acting blacksmith and leathersmith for some time. Mom passed 2 years ago. We visited there once but weren't able to go past the gift store. I've actually got quite a few pictures of mom and Leland on site. :) thank you for helping me walk down my mom's memory lane!!!!

Back in the late 60s my parents and siblings and i would go out by the lake and have picnics I sure miss the the old days. Nice video thank you.

Adam if you are ever in Oregon in August, we have a thing called the "Steam Up" in Brooks OR. A working saw mill via a steam engine, a full machine shop powered by line shaft, displays of Hit and Miss engines, and daily parades of steam and other vintage tractors. My son as a boy had stars in his eyes looking at all the big iron when he was young. Btw, your lady has a very well trained eye to find the tags on old machines. I have noticed that for the last couple of years... Thanks for the great footage

Sounds like a great event! Here in Florida we have the Florida Flywheelers which puts on a couple shows a year. I have a couple videos of that event plus their huge Snow Engine on my abom79 channel.

Look to me like someone popped up over the edge of the tower as you guys got close to it on the dam there

The local county park near me has a working blacksmith shop. They offer a class for blacksmithing. I loved doing that class. Indiana has many events during the year. The caverns down by Mitchell, Indiana are a must-do when the area. They will have the Covered Bridge Festival this year.

Adam, the post vice is known as a leg vice in the UK; I had vtwo in my shop when I taught Metalwork. If you don't mind a mild criticism from a 77 year old, a steam locomotive is not a train, a train is a locomotive together with the freight/passenger cars it is hauling. Thousands of people make the same mistake. Been watching your Abom 79 channel for many years, you'll be at half a million subscribers this year. FYI the old farm implement was a corn binder, would cut corn off bundle it in shocks for others to come by and load. Allot of wood rotten and gone from that machine. Great tour video of the place!

I grew up in north arkansas. Mostly extreme northwest

Adam, in Jan. 2014 our NW Arkansas blacksmith group with about 15 members in attendance held a meeting at the blacksmith shop there on the grounds. We had some guys volunteer to clean up the shop some and make some minor repairs to some of the equipment. In return they allowed us to fire up the forge, use the bellows and do some forging. At that time, the old bellows was barely working. We were hoping to try to restore the bellows, but it never happened, sadly. It was really a treat for the museum there to allow us to use the shop. From seeing the smithy in your video now, it has really fallen into disrepair...sad. I would like to see us have another meeting there and do some more work on the place.

If you are ever in Illinois please go to the Midway Village Museum in Rockford Illinois. It is amazing and they have a whole wing on manufacturing.

Very cool and entraining . In the Morton building we have a chest style deep freezer. It is stacked clear full as tight as possible National Geographic mags. All like new. ( no the freezer is not plugged in ) . The freezer and contents were in the building when we bought the farm 13 years ago. 🥱

We took a school field trip there every year right before summer break. It was already so hot and humid we couldn’t wait to get into that cavern LOL. Btw, if you guys really wanna get certified, no better place in the world than Pensacola. Scuba and beer are what took me out of AR originally LoL

In the 1940's I grew up on my Grandfather's NH dairy farm and lumber mill that had a blacksmith shop with all the tools including a mechanical bellows for the fire, anvils, etc. Finally, we sold the farm, and all the tools and equipment went with it. Unfortunately, at that time I didn't know about the value or demand for all the equipment and tools, just thought it was going to be wasted. Now, recently, I see the demand for all that stuff. So it goes...

You'd love the Farmer's museum at Cooperstown, NY. it is a working village of 1750 the blacksmith is working every day.

@@AbomAdventures The museum you'd enjoy most would be Greenfield Village (ford's) they have all the vintage tools and they give demonstrations and rides in old Fords and steam trains rides. it takes all day to see it.

Hi Adam & Abby, Loving the videos especially as we are in the UK and don't really get that sort of weather very often. Also love Abom79 too watched you for many years now. Will you be doing an update on the equipment that you use on all of your videos as we have started with GoPro's 4 but would like to buy newer ones as your footage is FAB and wondering how you do it and with what. Keep the videos coming :-)

That old farm tool has a hundred ways to lose a finger or a hand!

If you can make a pattern im sure it can be cast and made that, then machined by Abom . The foot vise could be had. Plus im sure others will want some also. Making cost more fair. Gee do we know anyone who does cast iron ????

I always find it sad to see old tools like that just rusting away.
