    For $1,999 I could have 2 Ruger precision rim fires and 2 vortex crossfire 6x24 scopes in 17 hmr, that gun has 10x more kinetic energy, and the bullet moves 2000 fps faster, who buys these if they can get a real gun

    @@Powerpickle68 No ive just bought into the hype like alot of people, spent a massive amount of money, and realised it's just all hype. I bought a 2nd hand Air Arms HFT500, the guy had it over lock down, shot a quarter tin, if that, of .177 through it and hasn't used it since. So I bought it, shot it at 35 yards in 3 shot groups and thought something was wrong as for each group could only see 1 hole. It turned out it will put pellet on pellet and I mean pallet on pallet, not a slight clover leaf, but 1 on top of another so there jus 1 hole. Not even a slight over lap but 1 4.5mm hole. Its unreal how accurate it is. An Impact could only dream of accuracy like that but the hype makes you believe they the best rifle out there. The barrel systems crap as it always shifts, the barrels sets are way over priced and the gun it's self is I think for what they are. And when you take 1 apart it made me anyway, feel cheated as they harp on about new tech but it's old tech at best. But you've got to give the guys from Fx praise as they've made alot of money buy selling not alot of gun and marketed it so people pass all its faults and still think they're the best thing since sliced bread. It makes me think if Air Arms bothered with the marketing and promo like Fx what they could put out

    Very nice rifle. I do think that having some kind of bar going from the bottom of the butt plate to the front of the air cylinder and then up to the butt stock to protect it might be a good thing to have. Unlike the Impact this rifle stands a better chance to have a considerable amount of weight impact put on the cylinder if it is hit since it is so far rear of the bipod. That would inflict an incredible amount of force on the bottle being so far back from the bipod. I know the bottle is pretty tough but $hit happens. Otherwise that looks like a rifle I'd like to buy. As usual great presentation Matt. Thank you.

    The moment I saw it I could tell why this gun is good at long range, most of the "pipework", Plenum and forwards, is in a straight line with the breech, that's a huge improvement on internal ballistics. Edgun has been doing similar pipework for a while, and you can tell it helps, even with their shorter guns. That bottle is a bit small, but probably won't be long until someone comes up with an adapter to run a hose, paintball-style, to a bottle in a belt holster or something.

    With nearly all PCP you can just leave the fill probe plugged in connected to your Day Tank if you want. All you need to do is decant the tank to less than the gun's maximum fill pressure, or alternatively you can use a fill pressure regulator if you prefer. I routinely do that with my HW100KT and S510 for pellet testing and use Best Fittings Quick Couplers to simplify swapping between setups. Also fitted the day tank with a push button Bleed Valve so it is very quick and easy to disconnect for Walk Back testing.

  • @ToreDL87

    @@Marcus_Shaw I know precisely what you're on about here, I have a scuba bottle charged to my gun's working pressure constantly connected to the fillprobe when I do testing 😂 But in this case I'm specifically thinking about leaving a fill pressure regulator designed and built for this gun, in place of the OEM bottle. That way, larger FX-style bottles can be worn on the belt, and they can start cranking up the power on this gun to avoid adverse effects (increased air usage).

  • @Marcus_Shaw

    @@ToreDL87 Yes that would be an option, although why specifically an FX bottle? If you check out Best Fittings for example they do a range of 300bar CF tanks, so you could have any size you like in a backpack. Yes, this is exactly what I've been waiting for. As a spoiled Westerner with an obscene firearm collection there's been no need for me to get into pellet rifles, though as a shooter I've always had a desire for one. It's hard to justify the price when I can purchase a mid tier precision rifle for the same price. From what I'm seeing here, this is *"that rifle"* to bridge the gap to excite firearm shooters to make the plunge. If I'm getting similar Ballas it's to a liter firearm withing 100m, why the hell not? Obviously the ballistics aren't similar, but the accuracy is. Sub Moa is glorious for a pellet rifle. I believe he said the chassis is made by, or similar to MDT; it is, etc. This has everything, and is finally that gun to get me excited for the sport. I was looking at a bullpup; I can't remember the name but I'm sure you guys are familiar with it. I'm excited, and I can't wait to purchase one and Gucci it out with rattle can. Now pellet optics differ from rifle optics, correct? Even my high end S&B and US Optics won't work with pellet rifles? It has the "Scar effect" (though I've never had an issue with optics on my Scar) with the recoil impulse and destroys optics? This guy needs to make a trip state side and do some serious hunting with some real toys. Talking Texas hogs from a helicopter, with a seared rifled, coyotes with clip-on, etc. I wonder if pellet rifles would lose their luster? Probably not because it's identical, same high skill cap, just at a shorter distance.

    No need to worry about scopes when you get your first PCP air rifle. The double recoil is only spring Airguns, PCPs use the same optics as firearms, though just with more complex reticles so you have hold points etc, similar to ELR and Precision scopes

    I love it, but have now use for it. A nice small pump gun by Fx would be great. I love my crosman 1377. I shoot it more than the Fx impact and my AF talon. So I ask for a 1377 pump "look a like" with STX barrel. I put $1,000.00 into mine. I would have definitely rather bought a sub compact carbine PUMP from FX. Has to be pump. That way I get a low power pcp with a variable regulator" your hand" I don't have long range at my front door. I love you keep going bigger and badder finding out new science is cool. Just don't forget 90% don't have anything close to what you all are used to. Most my shooting in in the house, shop, or after work in side. All safe, I'm sure you guys could whip up a little guy real quick, we don't need the power just the accuracy up to 30yrds. Thank you. Ps. I still want the Panthera, too.

    No they aren't. They are the android. You can customise an fx any way you want to. It's all beautifully engineered and mechanical which is a rare thing these days. If any manufacturer is comparable to apple, it's daystate. Razor precise, super advanced, but so closed off to modify and tweak the mechanical components.

  • @wildweasel6898

    @wildweasel6898

    10 ай бұрын

    I think edgun is a superior gun. Daystate is also superior but not as modular. I think the barrel inserts fx uses are sub par. They are however at the cutting edge of moving the airgun forward. The quick way they are able to whip out a barrel with a different twist has made slug guns and hybrid guns possible. I'm not saying they are bad by any means but a heavier LW or custom barrel is far better than these thin inserts. Also if you push a pellet through the fx barrels you can see what I'm talking about. They are loose then tight then loose again. I'm splitting hairs tho. They are as accurate as almost any shooter. I just wanted to share my experience with them. You will not be disappointed by buying an fx. Be sure to buy the one that matches your shooting need tho. Dreamline is great for handy close range hunting, impact long range hunting, etc. Some barrels are for pellet some for slug etc.... I would watch a lot of Matt's videos as well as call fx and get a recommendation from them. My favorite hunter is the wildcat because I shoot from blinds and need a lightweight short gun. Anyway I'm not a hater I hope you can see that I just have my preference in edgun. Cheers

    HUGE PROBLEM with this rifle is that in PRS we move with an open bolt and it is so easy to bump the lever and chamber a pellet during a move, Worse yet is that when we instinctively draw the bolt back, we then set the rifle up to chamber another round. Now there's two pellets in the chamber. None of this is a problem with the HW100 as it is vastly superior in this area. The HW100 will not index the mag until the trigger has been pulled. This prevents double feeding a round.

    First things first, nice video as always Matt! Then, i got some remarks. First and foremost, i absolutely hate vertical grips and it looks like my standard (think stock Maverick) grips might make my hand/wrist interfere with the bottle. Then the system/bottle itself, i see max. 250bar and am instantly sad they didnt make it 300bar capable (like Maverick/Impact). Lastly and not really important to me personally, naming a QD mount is nice, but if you put a QD mount on this your mag will no longer fit for sure. I do like the form factor and tunability, i do like the looks and i do like the capability of balancing it out as you want a lot. What i also like, a lot, is the adjustable cheeckpiece, finally!

    Très belle arme, j'ai hâte qu'elle soit commercialisée en France! Elle a vraiment un look d'enfer, de carabine de sniper, j'adore ! J'ai regardé la vidéo "sous toutes les coutures" et j'ai remarqué, à l'instant 9:17 vue du dessous, il me semble qu'il manque une vis, sur les quatre qui fixent la cross, juste derrière la poignée, je me trompe peut-être? 👍👍

    Nice, Nice and thans for sharing. What I don’t understand is why accuracy tests are still done in a way human error can influence the results? Why not place the gun in very stable frame like is done with benchrest shooting?

  • @Marcus_Shaw

    @Marcus_Shaw

    That's Part 1 of testing, but it doesn't matter how small a barrel groups if the balade of the setup is off and it can't be shot well. In BR comp the gun is rested but must be floating, it cannot be clamped in to anything.

    Matt, nice review, as always. What is the bottle fill pressure at the start of the shot string, and what is the regulator pressure at the start of the shot string, and what is the mass of the projectile and muzzle velocity? How many shots to where the bottle pressure meets the regulator pressure? what is the ambient temperature and barometric pressure, or mean level above sea level? Adjectives and superlatives are great sales vernacular, but numbers do not lie, but you can lie with numbers, and the laws of physics are not just really good ideas. The plenum, 215 cc is almost as big as the pressurized cylinder of 300 cc, the only difference is the pressures, which dictate how many air molecules. The 300 cc cylinder at 250 Bar holds approximately 1,348.872 grains of air. The 215 cc plenum at 175 Bar holds approximately 676.684 grains of air. The muzzle energy is fixed by several factors and variables, but mostly by projectile weight, amount of air molecules released and time in the active barrel length. As a quick and dirty rule of thumb, you should get approximately a foot pound of energy per regulator Bar pressure from a finely tuned and balanced air rifle, so 175 Bar you could expect 87.5 fpe, if you knew what you were doing. The higher fpe, the less shot count. The lower fpe, the higher shot count. The objective is to search and find the elusive accuracy and precision nodes. What good would it be to have an infinite shot count, but never hit the target, or just one lucky dump shot? Somewhere in beteem the former and the latter is the goal. One mole of air molecules at room temperature is approximately 447 grains of air, which on average has a very well predicted velocity, on average, so the variables that I'm asking for will scream balance, or imbalance. Another quick and dirty rule of thumb is that each grain of air should give you approximately 4 fpe. The higher the energy amount, the lower the 4 fpe can drop to 1 fpe/grain of air, and vice-versa, the lower the muzzle energy, the higher the 4 fpe/grain of air goes up, but never above 6 fpe/grain of air because then you would have a perpetual motion machine. I love the look of the gun and only wish that I could afford it on my fixed income, but I've been following FX guns from practically its beginning, as well as thousands of reviews on the many FX models, calibers, barrel lengths, projectile types and various regulator pressures and I find too many liars, or exaggerated honest mistakes. I am a retired fact checker, and that is now my hobby; instead of my career and livelihood. For example, why isn't the pressurized cylinder 1 cc at 10,000 Bar? To begin, the Department of Transportation (DOT), prohibits the transportation of pressurized cylinders over 250 Bar on any public highway, and if you did, you would be guilty of transporting a dangerous and potentially explosive device, if filled above 250 Bar pressure, but if it has less than 250 Bar pressure, any volume and rated for a billion Bar pressure, you would be O.K.. I hate to be in an auto accident with someone carrying a cylinder with over 250 Bar pressure. I would personally get a 700 cc cylinder rated at 400 Bar and fill it at the range with a multiplier, but never transport it on a public highway with over 250 Bar pressure. Matt, I need the numbers and not adjectives and superlatives. Thank you and keep up the good work with the videos.

    Any test data in .25 caliber? So far .25 cal slug accuracy out of the Superior Heavy is not up to par with .22 (which is why it seems .22 slugs are getting the lion's share of the attention). This gun uses the same barrel, correct? Wouldn't it face the same challenge?

    .22 gets the lion's share of attention from South African KZreadrs because of the laws in South Africa... "Any airgun that exceeds both the 5.6mm calibre and muzzle energy of 8 joules / 6 foot pounds is classified as a firearm in South Africa and in terms of the FCA a firearms licence is required to own and operate such. Hereinafter referred to as a “LCA - Large Calibre Airgun” class airgun."
