Built to a Higher Standard!! • Brinkley RV Model Z Factory Construction Tour
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
With all of the buzz surrounding this exciting new brand of RVs I wanted to see what was REALLY going on under the skin and within their facilities. Brinkley RV was kind enough to invite me to take a look behind the curtain and share what I found.
I've been doing this for years and I've toured over a dozen RV factories before and say without hestitation there are things happening here I have NEVER seen elsewhere. The culture & environment they've created for their workforce is truly a step apart from what I typically encounter at an RV build facility.
This is a LONG Video, so I have chapter marked it for easier navigation for your convenience. Enjoy and let me know what you think!!

I left GD for Brinkley a couple weeks back, taking a pay cut (for now til we get to producing more units at least!) doing so. One of the selling points for me was the AC controlled plant that will be opening up soon. I’ve been welding in RVs for about 10 years now and none of those companies thought twice about getting us AC. Summers in Indiana are HUMID as I’m sure you know, so yes Brinkley has done some major game changing things. I agree 100% with retention being a big factor in quality aspect of RVs. It’s no coincidence that GDRV has/had good quality when they pay the best in the industry currently. I left there after almost 4 years and I was still basically one of the “new” guys. No other rv place has that. Hard to hold people accountable when it’s a different person doing the job every other week. All in all, awesome video, I’m so excited to help Brinkley grow and do my part to get customers the best quality they can. Too many people in this industry just don’t care that people are spending $100k+ on these units and can barely use them because they’re junk and constantly needing fixed. Good video!

Wow ty for sharing
We’re about to retire and are thoroughly studying the fifth wheel models and manufacturers. Have identified 2: Grand Design and Brinkley. Initially was leaning toward Grand Design bc I was concerned that Brinkley may have a few beginner kinks to work out. Then, we did a side by side comparison at the Grayslake RV show this Spring. Hands down, we’re buying a Brinkley. The Brinkley rep patiently answered every question I had, offered new info and displayed an engaged energetic demeanor. He respected my knowledge of his product (thanks Josh) and didn’t assume anything. Walked over to the Grand Design unit and the interaction couldn’t have been more different. Salesperson sat the entire time on the sofa, loudly slurped a beverage and dissed Brinkley whenever possible. When I asked him how he sells his product against Brinkley he scoffed and said he didn’t have to. He said they were in different leagues. Well, he was right. We’re buying a Brinkley this Spring.

@@fozzybear9114 Just saw a video where an alliance unit had a failed clothes washer drain that was not even glued together. When you can't plumb an RV, you shouldn't be building them. It comes down to craftsmanship, not slap and go. The RV industry for the most part put's out crap and it's about time for manufactures that care to call out all the others.

The reality is that there's to spite the dozens and dozens of different 5th makes and models you'll see... There all made by the same handful of companies in Indiana...Most of which are owned by Warren Buffet....Same 5th wheels just different wrappers! .....My advice is don't focus on manufacturer Grand Design vs. Keystone vs. whoever.... there all built the same and with universal components to cut cost.....Focus on finding the floorplan that you like best... DON'T BUY ANY UNIT that's been sitting on a the dealer lot for more than 3 months... and, when you buy, bring someone with RV experience for the walk through... AND GO THROUGH EVERY SQUARE INCH OF THE UNIT YOUR BUYING , CHECK EVERY SYSTEM...Dealers usually only allot 2 hrs for this...I wouldn't care if it takes all day.. DO NOT SIGN OFF UNTIL YOUR SATISFIED.... Once you leave the lot, which is what the sales guy wants, it's yours!!! Any issues after that are the Service dept / Warranty depts problem and dealing with that is a nightmare!
I worked at GD as a tech for several years. These are better and their facility is astonishingly better than anyone I’ve ever seen or worked for. 35 years building RV’s in Elkhart county, so I know what I’m saying is true. Culture is a new word altogether in this industry. I applaud this. It’s been a long time coming and it’s about time.

I really would like to get a Brinkley. I’m still trying to make up my mind, which is about 80% towards a Super C a big one. Only because of the towing abilities, like even a double stacker. Or pulling a workshop. So many possibilities. We don’t have a home base anymore. Just a 5th wheel, which for being as old as it is, is in great shape. We left it in Arizona, we are in Missouri now, staying at my daughters condo that she is selling, because she moved to Florida. We are bringing down the stuff she had no room left in the uhaul. We were going to store our RV in a shaded storage area, but couldn’t find our title and registration papers. So it’s cooking in the Arizona sun right now. We needed to do some roof work that didn’t get done. Might be time to get a different rig, after our fix it work. I’m Loving watching the process of the build. The one we have is a 2002 Alpin Light but built well, and heavy. Solid wood throughout. Just want a more modern one.
❤the fact that their first priority is happy employees that give out a better product SPEAKS VOLUMES....❤❤❤❤
This is vastly superior to any place I worked in my 20 years in RV. They have a lot of ideas implemented that I suggested so many times over the years but was handily dismissed. I'm glad to see someone finally modernizing the RV industry. It's not that they are the most innovative, I've seen plenty of capable innovators, I was one, but the dedication to their employees, the thought that went into giving them an overall better and safer work experience, that's someone I only dreamed of.

Yeah I don’t think those factors are unrelated by any means
Quite some years back Rosie and I were traveling with the Grandsons through Indiana and at the time we owned a Reflection fifth wheel. We stopped in and took a tour of a fairly new factory called Grand Design. The folks were very nice, and we met the owners. We first met Micah at this time and even have pictures of the grand kids in his office. Over the years I have gone back and forth with Micah and he has bent over backwards to help us. When we saw he was all in with this new company we went to an early RV show in San Diego and ordered our new Brinkley shortly after. Now we are proud owners and back with Micah at the helm. Burlington Bill here, busking on the road and on you tube!
My wife and I just purchased a Z3100 and are waiting for a few extras (slide toppers, etc.) to be installed before we take delivery. This video is very reassuring that we made a good decision. Very excited for our first trip which is soon.

I'm from Elkhart county. I remember what the old "factories" were like. You could easily lose 5 lbs. a day in sweat in the summer. BTW, we just picked up our Model Z 3100 June 1st. Great product. We got to meet 4 of the 5 owners and they all seemed like honest up standing people, especially Nate who we spent most of our time with having questions answered.

That is a thing I hear about at Japanese (Toyota I think) auto factories. Any worker has the ability to stop the line to figure out/fix a problem. If they can become the "Toyota of RV/TTs" I'd love to buy one of theirs when the times comes. Maybe not the most luxurious or newest gadgets, but built well and to last. I'm not much of a handyman, so the thing that scares me the most about TTs is how prone things are to breaking on them and needing fixing. Let's hope they are able to keep this level of quality sustainable!
Fantastic video! Fantastic company! I want one. I’ve been looking at the grand designs, but after doing a little bit more research and watching this video , I am heavily leaning towards the Brinkley 3100.. I am impressed with the quality and the cleanliness of the factory. When you take care of your employees, and treat them right, they will take care of the company…in any industry. Glad to see that pride has again returned to the American workforce.

I've watched dozens of your videos Josh but his one jumps to #1. The way you conducted the tour, sharing appropriate information along the way was world class, you could do this for a living! I have to say that the Brinkley management philosophy is right on: keep the employees happy and they will look after you. It's obvious that they care about the work they do and want the company to be successful. Not only does the organization provide a top class product at a reasonable price they also appear to have a happy customer base. Thank you to Brinkley Management for allowing you Josh this insider access, everyone benefits.

Wow.. thank you!!
Great review. I'm signing papers on a Z2900 this week. When I did the PDI, I didn't find any debris, unlike other trailers I have owned. My first Forest River, the floor vents were packed with saw dust! I like the way Brinkley keeps it clean throughout the building process, and fixes issues as it goes. I saw the Forest River factory tour video, and they just mark errors with tape to then fix at the end of the production line, so of course its rush rush and fix it later. Impressive the owner is out there snooping around, his attention to detail makes it all happen. Company culture helps a lot, I can tell they really mean it. Reminds me of when I worked for Waste Management, they had a company culture similar, and making the employees feel valued goes a long way. My only gripe, is no Max Air covers for the roof vents, seems like a small detail they could take care of for a high end unit. The covers tend to crack or break, especially in hot environments, which is why I always install Max Air covers. When spending 100k for a 5th wheel, you would think they would throw in some Max Air covers. The rigidity of the Island is amazing. Friends have a Montana, and the Island is loose from the factory and there's no good way to secure it after the fact. Also the heat vents from the Island is brilliant. The bedroom has tons of storage, as well as throughout the trailer. I'm sure I will be losing things, not remembering which cabinet I put things in lol. Great review Josh, appreciate you going through every last detail. Another plus, is that there are no seams to caulk. They use 3M tape under joints so going around with a caulking gun every six months has been eliminated.
They are doing things that ALL of the RV industry needs to implement. Quality assurance during production, what a concept!! #Sarcasm.

Talking to a camera is difficult, takes practice and the guys at the beginning did well. Glad to see a company trying to do it RIGHT! I spent my day crawling under and over my camper. And lets just say Forest River is not even in the same ball park. I have a red wire sticking out the bottom between the frame and tarp material,, had that black foam sprayed at where it was suppose to seal around the gas line entry, had the black foam covering one of the low point drains, have the under belly held with two screws on one side of the camper someone missed the other two for the other side, the roof membrane was beautifully done on the camp side......and not sealed at all for a foot on the other side (some damage there already), have the camp kitchen drawer sagging so it auto opens and you have to lift up on it to pull the griddle out, dumped the grey tank and a chunk of wood comes out, piles of saw dust and cutouts left in the cabinets and every hidden spot, but it's what I could afford. If Brinkley would make a small 1/2 ton towable that is a good boon docker for hunters at something we could afford.....the market is there.

Excellent video & facility tour. Brinkley is fantastic. It’s really hard to adequately describe how I feel about Brinkley. All I can say is I need to watch for their towable travel trailer launches and find an Eastern Canadian Dealer close to my city in Saint John NB otherwise I’ll be driving to Indiana and picking it up myself at the factory haha. From what I have seen, thanks largely in part to your videos, Brinkley is offering extraordinary products and their processes are just stellar. Thanks Josh!
Brinkley seems like a what can happen when people stop complaining and start creating. These people came out of situations they didn't like, compiled a list, and said this is HOW to do it. It's definitely a company worth keeping an eye on. The fact that they are the only ones doing a jiggle test is going to become a new standard. When consumers know, smart companies follow. Can't wait to see their travel trailers started.

Certainly, it looks like Brinkley is doing the right things. Being an RV tech , we see so many problems with new RVs when they show.... absolutely no quality control on most RVs made. Looks like Brinkley is doing it right. I would like to see Brinkley make a travel trailer....here is what I think would sell well, "couples travel trailer"....50amp, theatre seating, 2 AC's, no table or dinette, 50" television, with a fireplace underneath, no separate rooms except for bathroom, 12 volt fridge, king bed, farmhouse style interior, #30-#40 pound propane tanks, road armor suspension, high quality tires, enclosed high quality underbelly with reinforced tanks for traveling....and all under 30', 28' if possible. Basically build the travel trailer with the same quality as the fifth wheel...love the aluminum construction, a clean look to it!

Very interesting video. They seem like a very good trailer manufacturer who keeps their shop clean. Was great to see a video dedicated to the manufacturing process. AS a retired manufacturing engineer who managed a quality management system in manufacturing it would be nice to see bar codes on parts that are getting installed on each trailer. This ensures, (1) they are using the latest and greatest part as well as the correct part number on that trailer, and (2) it would allow them to track supplier data on each part in case they had a quality issue in the field with a part they used 5 months ago and they would know exactly which trailers had it. Also, not sure why manufacturers don't use power tools that are set to specified torques by the engineers. This would avoid over-tightening fasteners, especially when fastening to wood.
Pretty amazing workplace and product. Thanks for sharing this tour and review.

We purchased a 2022 c class, it was the higher end model, it was one of the best recommended brand/model even from some of the best RV KZreadrs. I discovered over three dozen problems. I sent a letter telling them how bad it was and I give my recommendations on how to fix some problems even offer to visit to help solve problems. I’m a mechanic worked on boat fleets, snowmobiles, snowcats, vehicles, helicopters, aircrafts and jet engines. I brought in new equipment which saved tens of thousands to a hundred thousand of dollars and weeks on a single job. Did many improvements to our shop to make it more efficient than others across the country. Brinkley solved some of the problems I stated in my letter that would had made their RVs a better product. I do recommend they bring in or check out other industry experts from the boating and aircraft industry. I hope they build C classes with a bunkhouse. Because I would definitely get one.

Wow, you've got a lot of expertise & experience. 👍
Very detailed and thorough. In case you're wondering if anyone actually watched every minute of it: it seems that there's a leak in a front seal at 54:07, as bubbles are forming. (Perhaps someone else already said this below; there are a LOT of comments.) Anyway, again, great video. Thank you.

I am totally sold. Quality and investment in their staff. The one thing that would make me jump is if they would design a twin bed option for people who cannot navigate around the sides of a traditional bed and it would be great for companion travelers.

I don’t see that happening from the factory anytime soon but who knows what the future holds
I am about a year out from purchasing an RV. I am going full time and I really like what I am seeing here. Josh you are providing a great service with these tours. Right now it comes down to Brinkley and Alliance. Keep them coming please.

TY for sharing, Mike! They are definitely putting in some effort!
I am really glad to see this Brinkley RV factory tour! I can see they are above and beyond the other rv factory builders! I definitely would love to get rid of this Keystone Cougar 367 FLS and get a Brinkley RV for sure! Thank you for the tour!!

Culture is the most important thing any company can work on. Brinkley looks to be a company that actually gets the importance whereas most companies don't put the emphasis on it. Great video.

I was so glad so see that the people that build them camp and surprised to see the care to every detail…we have been full timing for 2 years now and would definitely consider buying a Brinkley for quality reasons Peace from Ontario Canada currently in Nanaimo B.C. Snowbirding
We bought a Flagstaff and one of reasons is bc of the factory walk through at Rockwood. This one makes me want a Brinkley! Thank you for taking the time to show us this amazing company and their product.

Super great documentary on this product Josh. Good work. I enjoyed learning all the construction details and oversight. That is commendable to have a superior product and employee focused business but.....what is extremely important for the customer is CUSTOMER SUPPORT and backing their warranty. Too often the buyer has to fight and fight to get work authorized and completed. Only time will tell on this portion of Brinkley. I prefer the drop-down storage because it's much easier to view and access all my stored items, to install solar system components, and other customization.

@@JoshtheRVNerdthanks for clarification on a comment I accidentally put here. I deleted and removed it. Having a rough day with You Tube and my comments going to the right videos. The above comment posted to someone else’s video.
Thank you for the tour! What we have seen so far is impressive. Husband and I would like to travel the country but we would really like something 30 feet or just under. Not necessarily lighter, just possibly shorter. We also like the north/south beds with actual drawers in the night stands (thank you Brinkley). Looking forward to see the TT line and what else they have planned. Oh yeah and the idea of a window in the front cap is a good one. 😊

Thanks for this tour Josh, I like what Brinkley is doing, if I was looking for a 5th wheel, it would be either Brinkley, or Alliance. Looking forward to what they will come with in the future!

We will! Late this year or early 2024 most likely
Awesome! Thank you . Quality build is important . Even if it means us spending the little Xtra money to ensure a we get a quality product. Rv buyers would rather wait to have a quality built RV these days. When fast production and quality cuts takes priority over building quality RVs Manufacturers sales will decline and doesn't do well for future sales. Keep up the good work brinkley!❤
Impressed with the detail to quality, I have been researching fifth wheels for full time camping. After seeing this video I'm have to locate one and look for myself. Front runner now.

Wow... Can't wait until these guys get into the travel trailer market. It's obvious they're leaps and bounds above the rest in quality.
So excited for the Brinkley RV to get a model with a small desk for the people that work remotely. Love the 345GK from GD but waiting on something similar from Brinkley. Good Work Guys!!!

This is so awesome. Thanks, Josh! I hope when I buy next year that I’ll be able to find one, that it doesn’t go the way of LTV where you have to wait 2+ years for delivery! I suspect Brinkley’s reputation will continue to soar and I hope that they’ll be able to keep up. They are rockin’ and rollin’!

Brinkley has continued their slower pace of production. And while not perfect owners do seem to be happier than average in their owner groups. I've seen quite a few folks who have jumped ship from other brands and been happy doing so
As they say, "You get what you pay." Brinkley (a couple of others, too) is doing great letting you show their dedication and attention to detail; I thank them! If I figure out how to take buy it, it's MINE! Something smaller (TT?) would better suite my needs, but, who knows. Thanks to Brinkley and you, Josh, for giving us some great insight. Y'all Be Safe!
