As someone from Sweden, it's hilarious to hear you guys pronounce the furniture names. Honestly, the names from ikea are pretty dumb and nonsensical, mainly names and whatever else. Their names are usually just sorted into categories depending on budget and quality, the names can be whatever but a whole line of furniture or other items are named the same to give you an idea of, okay, this is better, this is worse. Makes it easy to get what you want, the cheaper comes with sacrifices, the mid is usually decent and the higher can be surprisingly good depending on item. You know what ikea is usually used for in Sweden? Either for those on a really tight budget or those who want to outfit a whole new home but don't really care that much about quality, function or whatever. I went for a few trips there to get everything I didn't care about much, like some extra utensils for the kitchen that doesn't matter as long as they serve their functions, some food plates, glasses, shoehorns, candle holder and other crap that I just want to work and be cheap. Things like kitchen machines, furniture, quality frying pans and whatever else I got somewhere else, things where it matters if the quality is good and that you're actually going to have a lot of use for. Stuff like furniture, tables, couch etc I just get secondhand, is crazy cheap for things that once upon a time cost extremely much, like sofas/couches, usually these can cost around 3000$ new yet secondhand, still in great shape that can be used for many years ahead that you just need to clean a little and use some furniture treatment kits on depending on material, they are often sold for everything from 5% to 20% of what it cost new depending on wear and won't really be much worse than a new one. I also tend to hunt for beds secondhand, just gotta get one that seems well taken care of and then get a new mattress. They go for really cheap because some feel disgusted with someone else having used the bed for a long time, but I honestly don't get it, just change the mattress, you won't touch the actual "bed" underneath anyway. Well, that was a bit off topic, but no matter how much people laugh at IKEA, there's a good reason for it getting so widespread. It can provide things that look great and work good at prices way lower than the "authentic" stuff from brand name companies. I wouldn't recommend buying everything there but some things are perfectly fine to buy there and no matter how people complain about the do-it-yourself parts and how they bothersome or even of bad quality sometimes, it'll always be a great way to stock up on essentials or stuff you don't care much about and won't experience much stress from excessive use.

I use the same trestle legs for my desk as they use in the video, and Linus is right, they're plenty sturdy, even with no way to secure the desk to them. I used to use just the legs that they have in the middle of the desk. I had 4 on each corner and one in the middle and it was extremely wobbly. I ended up removing the 4 end ones and instead going for the trestle legs and they work wonders. They have rubber on top so the desk doesn't move around, and once you add any weight onto the tabletop at all, it's real solid.

i have those exact legs, and while it is kinda weird that you cant attach them to your tabletop, if your table is heavy enough it doesnt really move, especially if you change the foam pads on the top for something grippier like silicone or rubber furniture pads (like the kind you use on furniture legs). I would recommend them, they're literally 15 bucks and super sturdy (no wobble, no flex)
