Building The Ultimate Bike Storage | Blake Builds A Bike Store

Спорт

Blake Samson has run out of space for all his bikes in his bike cave. However, he has found a perfect spot in his garden to build an MTB storage shed. Blake shows you how he lays a patio, constructs a small shed and also shares money-saving tips along the way!

Nice work! Pro tip - fix the corrugated roofing on the top of the corrugation (into a timber plant underneath), rather than through the trough where all the water runs: will keep those bikes much dryer!

I really hate that coroline stuff, it bows when it gets hot (cardboard impregnated with tar) and then falls to pieces unless it’s installed flat on moisture board. It’s been a disaster on my car port roof! And yes to the fixings on the high point of the corrugation.

For hanging the front wheels you could make a hanger out of a piece of old handlebar and hang the wheels by the rims. You could put hand grips on to protect the rims to stop any impalement on the ends. Adds a bit of bike personalisation too. 😃 Awesome series dude.

Add a basket/container for commonly use tools. Brake caliper inserts, air pump, shox pump, tyre lever, spare tubes, chain tool, bike cleaning equipments and diskbrakes cleaner. Add light in the shed and add a working light incase you drop something small. (portable working light) The wheel stand/holder on the doors can double as a quick workstand to do a quick adjustments. (use heat shrinks on the rebar to protect the wheel axle and frame)

Usually watch before i comment, but i just have to say that i straight up love Blakes approach and personality. I'm hooked within the first 20 seconds! Buying used stuff or finding bargains like ordinary people, making good use of a smaller footprint and not building stuff that requires a mansion and the income that you need for said mansion. Most importantly, you clearly can be happy without those things, the proof is in the pudding. Thank you Blake for reminding me about these truths!!

Excellent job. Very impressed. Put a tread on the end of the spindles that hold the front wheels then put a threaded knob on the end. Stops having a pointy bar of metal sticking out to poke u in the eye, or your kids. Also would act like a lock to stop the wheels falling off

Blake! My trick for numbers like that... Just take the second number "The 8" and ad those together first. Allowing you to skip trying to do the thing where you are like "38 plus 30 plus 8" or whatever way your head does it. Anyway its less jumbled, You go 30+30 = 60. 8+8=16 so 60+16 is 76. "Or even 60+10 is 70 +6 is 76" I know it sounds more complicated but it really is a lot easier :D 😁

Looks nice, some extra ideas for you: 1. Offset the heights OR turn the brackets by a few degrees so the bars dont clash and saves turning stems. 2. Make it a bike dryer, wet bikes in it after washing isn't ideal so add a waterproof floor (maybe with a small drain hole) and then add some door seals and you can wire in a small electric heater to put on for an hour or so after washing bikes, especially in the winter when they never dry outside and just get rusty.

I was busy typing and then you finished with my suggestion - add guttering with a downpipe to a water butt and with the Worx Hydrashot you will never need to use a tap! I would also build a stand on the outside to hold your bike when you are washing it (and a drainaway for all the crud). Only other thing is running power so you can see what you are doing on those early morning raids. And use a small block of wood with three holes drilled in it for the allen keys... that way you can see if they are all there (and they won't fall out as easy) Great work Blake!

Need to fill in the gaps where the roof corrugation sits on the shed frame... Or wind will blow rain in and onto the unprotected osb ceiling. Tbh, you should have put the corrugated roof on last, after putting waterproof membrane down. Recon you should fill the wall voids with insulation too.

I bought these foam inserts to go under the roof corrugation. Didn't make the edit I guess. Thanks for the heads up dude

Great job Blake, just a thought on the front wheels, instead of some threaded bar, could you have welded 2 thru axles together and then wound them into some thread on the door? Abit of extra security and a little bit safer than threaded bar sticking out 🤣🤣 great work though, good watch and very funny, looks like you had a great time on this 🤙🏻

I'm the only one who would like to see Blake paint a bike with that cordless spray gun?

If it was me, I'd store the bikes were they are and then use the shed as a workshop when needed.

Good job ,but I'd upgrade the locks to sold secure rated stuff .I own the locksmiths next to TAV cycles in Ryde .It can make a huge difference on any future insurance claim .

11:33 screwing in the valley will likely cause the roof to leak in time. Put the roof fixing in the high point of the corrugations. Once the rubber goes brittle/ cracks the roof is at risk.

Would be a random combination but would love to see Blake builds along with Colin Furze in the same video. Feel like the energy both of them would be something magical

Most insurance companies wont insure bikes in timber built sheds and outbuildings. So next up I'dlike to see Blake bricklaying please. 🤣🤣🤣
