    Great stuff…. nearly identical setup. Be aware the IMS tank might settle and start to rub the engine on the inside. Myself and a friend, independently found raising with washers on the centre mount. I supported it with high density foam above and below. Also some neoprene patches on rub areas. Found the tank also started to rub on the toolbox ….. changed the angle of the toolbox but eventually ditched due to weight and width in tight spaces. Doesn’t hold that much either😌. I went with Adventure Men Cave with lower and detachable screen. Debatable evidence but heat reflective sheet on inner surface of the tank and wrapped the exhaust due to proximity to rear shock and radiated heat but not seen either done elsewhere. All dates back to 2020 and there may be improvements as that was in essence a new model at the time. Taco/Mike Spurgin are experts…. Looking forward to it!

    Ahh, the joys of fishing the fuel pump into the new tank, haha. I see that skid plate is similar to the one with storage that @RTWPaul used on his 500. Looking forward to the next video!

  • @fourwheelednomad

    @fourwheelednomad

    Yes it is, but rtwpaul has a better designed skid plate and toolbox design in my opinion. He has the 2016 and the exhaust header sweeps up higher so he can have a toolbox across the front.

    Great video. Makes me remember doing this same project for my wife and my KTM500s that we have been riding RTW. We have 2016 models. Question: Why lower the kickstand. If your rear is sagging under the weight, you need a new rear spring, not a lower kickstand. A sagging rear will ruin your handling. These bikes are very sensitive to luggage and unless the sag is setup correctly, they can handle awfully with luggage. We travel with 20kg of luggage each, so we add a spring two sizes up from stock to compensate. Also did the fork springs. I'm sure you know all this, but wondering why you're cutting the kickstand if the suspension has not been lowered.

  • @fourwheelednomad

    @fourwheelednomad

    6 ай бұрын

    I agree. We had to ride them across the states to get the suspension work done, so the sag would be set top there - we just needed to get them over to Vegas so that was a quick fix. All will be made clear in the next few videos.

  • @jimtitt3571

    Agree, I run a 20kg higher spring on the back, the moment the sag is too much the drive out of corners goes away very quickly. The sidestand problem with variable loads I solved with a Swiftkicker, brilliant on rough terrain and probably the best single mod on my EXC, available from Taco Moto.

    You have missed alot of upgrades for an adventure build, you need a cush hub to save motor, running a capacitor parallel with battery cos if your battery dies you ain't going anywhere, but a permanent capacitor will keep enough power to run the bike but NOT start it.
