Building The Racetrack of my Childhood Dreams for Assetto Corsa!
Ойындар
Every motorsport fan has wondered what it would be like to build a racetrack around roads they know. So, I decided to take the the premise one step further and build a race circuit around one of my old Childhood haunts for Assetto Corsa!

The short answer is; maybe after I iron out all of the (many) issues! This was pretty time constrained, so there are a lot of rough edges (to put it mildly!) :)

Managed to fix a hole and a new one would pop up. Adding the pits ended up being a nightmare as well. The pit entry twisted around itself. And the pit exit somehow ended up creating a 1m bump (more like a wall). Exporting the track after finally managing to iron out the worst bumps ended in a track assetto corsa woldn't accept and a project that was corrupted. Wouldn't you get discouraged?

One of the most wholesome videos I’ve seen in the sim racing sphere, I think every racing fan has had a dream of building a racetrack, this is an awesome rendition of yours!
track design has been a passion of mine since the first game that offered it. i need to try this
I've long fancied designing a race track or two. Thanks, this video shows its possible to do so in a real world location with some simple software & be able to race it. Absolutely fantastic
This is fantastic, i love this kind of videos. Also, i love the idea of circuits existing only in videogames, where things like permits, traffic roads, and construction costs are not an impediment to turn any road into a circuit. Make a good laptime before making it public. We need a base line!
This looks like a lot of things, but certainly not like a first attempt. The transformation from barren wasteland to actual track is stunning! Seeing all the subtle height changes and camber in the road, I imagine this might be a challenging track. I'd love to drive some laps there. Not only hotlaps, but an actual race. There's enough width to this track to see overtaking/defending action all over the place. Hat's off to you, it is magnificent!
I think if you made this a group project type deal so many people would jump into help with this and bring your dream to reality, bringing this track to its full potential
My hometown had three tracks in total from right after the war until the mid 50s. Should be interesting to make it a project and interpret them how they might look today (or might have looked back then). Great, inspiring video, thank you, Chris!
This is amazing! I think I’m going to create my 2 tracks that I always dreamed of when I was a kid and a teen (Oval & City Course)
Man, I did the exact same thing and went through the exact same emotions. There was a perimeter of paths around my parents and a few neighbours houses I used to do laps in a bike as a 5-7 yo. Always thought of it as a race track. Then sim racing and bob track builder came along. I had heaps of fun doing it.
This is awesome! Love the camber and elevation changes too, good job 😁
This looks so cool! I’ve always wanted to put the local track in my city into a sim, now I should definitely do it.
I can’t reiterate enough how many times I’ve been rewatching multiple of your videos, so it was quite a relief to see a new one uploaded recently. Loved it of course and can’t wait for next (two) week’s video.
Going back 30-35 years ago i had the same idea. Its so amazing that the track layout is pretty much already there. Great video brought back many memories for being a kid
This video is really, incredibly inspiring. I purchased RTB a few years ago, tried to re-create my local track, could never get it working, and gave up. But after seeing this, I promptly re-installed RTB and continued where I left off (I quickly ended up starting from scratch) But now I have 2 tracks under my belt, plus another 2 in the works, and yes theres the RTB stigma, but I've had remarkable amounts of good feedback. Hearing comments of peoples memories of one of the old, permanently closed tracks I built is really heartwarming, and makes me love the racing community further.
Back in the days when I was racing rFactor, I was thinking about making the streets where I lived into my personal sim-racing racetrack. Seeing this video now left me speechless...it really can be done!?!? I have to think about this loooong and hard. 😁 Please more on this subject!
Just watched it, you did pretty well, especially considering it's your first track. Does look a bit wide tho.

Im a 2000's kid. Back in the 80's, California had Ontario Motor Speedway which would have been my local race track. I always loved the idea of a racetrack which was certified for Formula 1, IndyCar, NASCAR, and NHRA drag racing. Unfortunately it ran very few events in the short decade it was open. This gives me some hope in finding a way to drive something that somewhat resembles the track.
The best video I have seen in a long time by anyone. I have always wanted to do this and might just do it after seeing how great yours has turned out. Well done.
This. is. AMAZING! This has really motivated me to build a fantasy street circuit around my town! Awesome vid Chris!
I grew up right next to Blackbushe Airport too - and this is my dream too! Fantastic work!
I never knew this program existed. Amazing. Just like op, I too had childhood dreams of seeing some of my neighbourhood streets as a track. I would stare at my street directory and imagine the track. Now I can build it.
Every kid's dream. So many racetracks made round local parks and estates that I drew on paper and would have loved to have playable like this. Might have to get a hold of this software
I drove a go-cart around blackbush sometime around 1990 when they had a model aeroplane show. Looking forward to trying your version!
Fantastic video Chris - made all the better because I also know Blackbushe very well indeed!
another level.Your passion for these sim titles is why i look forward to your vids

I used to do Karting in a Honda cadet at the Camberly Kart club last year so awesome to see you make a track on all of the land
I have a feeling this is going to be really nice! How original that is! I once thought about doing something like that but had no idea where to start.
Pretty sure I saw data sets that are free LiDAR captured, elevation data which had centimeter if not meters resolution available for the entire UK. That could help you.

I can see the emotions on your face Chris, I can almost feel it myself. 😍 Very cool to have such a marvelous experience after finding the right tools in this digital age. We're so blessed to have these opportunities. I do like the idea to put the track up on RD so we can see how it evolves. And I have no doubt somebody could probably do an amazing job of improving it. BUT it's YOUR track. You and only you can decide the flow and where to put things like the grand stands. Personally I'd try to reduce the circuit vibe and focus on the airport vibe. Smaller stands, more simplistic might add to it. And the whole width of the runway should be visible but perhaps by adding lines or guardrails split it in a narrower section for driving might help. Also add more bushes trees and stuff will help. And then hand it over to a professional for a touch up. And let's do a race sometime. I'd be honored if you could drop me an invite 😎🏁
Personally I’m getting a Suzuka Circuit and Gran Turismo’s Apricot Hill race track vibe from this design ... really well done 🤘
