  • @bostonbangouts

    @bostonbangouts

    I was here to say this.. Off the bat this could use a few more categories.. Like you said jumping or high pointing.. and ball skills... Plus YAC.. Strength or power.. Intelligence.. A very under rated skill.. Just knowing where you need to be at all times agaisnt all coverages and zones.. That's the only thing that held back (relative) Mike Evans from being an even better wr, especially with Brady.. He would be in the wrong place or not recognize the same things the qb did pre snap or immediately after snap.. To know where to break off a route or to sit in zones.. He had huge issues with that imo.. You could also call it game or field awareness.. . But anyway I regress lol I also think there should be more than one category for catching.. Spectacular and possession at the least although you could probably put Fitz there for both haha

If he doesn't get his lobotomized by berfict maybe he gets there. But he was just a really good receiver over a decent amount of time who fell off at the end because of injuries. I would have a hard time putting his total body of work above Diggs tbh, and I don't know anyone calling him a generational talent...

    Receiver has evolved so much over the years, stuff like route running is being taught at a younger age than it used to be. Also probably hundreds of thousands of hours of film you can study is readily available on the internet so you can learn how to run routes like the best. So naturally guys even that retired in 2006, only 16-17 years ago aren’t as refined as guys in the league in now or even in the mid 2010s.

    @@yezzir8929 I agree. He also had underated body control and tracking of the ball. He and Peyton would have been done well on their own but were really a perfect combo. Peyton wanted correct routes and wideouts to have expectation of where the ball would be and to adapt if neccessary. Harrison was the perfect WR for that. He also was a great example of a NFL player not just playing hard but putting in ridiculous work. He wasn't on Jerry Rices level obviously but his preparation, professionalism, and route running were close if not possibly on par.
