Nice model design but molding is not up to what one may expect: there is no scissor on the nose UC strut; the fit is not very good mostly in the nose and intakes areas. the main wheel bays should have been better detailed Definitely not a beginner's model

Very nicely done Intruder. It was an added bonus for you to add some historical references on the A-6 & mentioning of the movie by Stephen Coont’s book. My friend is in the development of R/C model kit of the A-6E with 12-foot w/s. All surface controls including slats, flaps, retracts & more fully operational.. Thank you. Job well done. Gary

Thanks so much Sander, I'm grateful for your comments and it inspires me to continue!
Just for future knowledge...no Naval aircraft ejection seats were allowed to go with worn paint. The greatest enemy of an aircraft at sea (other than adversaries) was salt water corrosion, and the seats and cockpits were inspected daily and any worn areas were painted to cover them and keep them safe from any salt water effects. All bare, stainless components were lightly greased to aid in anti-corrosion treatments. Also, any worn or dirty parachute and seat belts were replaced to prevent deterioration and to keep the strength of the material. As an AME (Aviation Structural Mechanic, Environmental and Egress Equipment) for 3 1/2 years with VF-102, I dailyed numerous aircraft both on board ship and back at NAS Oceana, VA. No aircraft was allowed to launch until it was done, so there were many late nights in the hangar on shore waiting for other shops to finish so we could do our inspections, and we were the last to daily an aircraft on board before launch. If any work was done in the cockpit after our inspection, we had to re-do our inspection to insure the bird was safe for launch. I've watched many build videos and too often builders would add wear and grime to the seats. I hope this will help in future builds and for any other builders who have watched. The build overall was excellent with this minor error.

Thank you for your service Jim. I agree with you 100%. When a scale modeler does this it is to highlight raised areas of detail that would be lost to the naked eye. Gives it a "reflection" that sunlight would do on the actual aircraft if it were a full scale bird. Most modelers will dry brush these details yet I really like the technique this modeler did. It's merely to make the details pop out to a viewers eye and not so much to represent worn paint.

Always loved the A-6. As a child, I lived near Whidbey Island NAS were most A-6's and EA-6B Prowlers were based and was their training center so it was a pretty busy place. I would sit there for hours watching them come and go. Awesome build. :)

Hi Alberto, thanks, it's one of the better outcomes on this channel.
Just to add a bit to this, the turret under the nose is called a DRS, or Detection and Ranging Set. When the aircraft is sitting on the deck, unless they were doing maintenance on the system, the turret would have been rolled backward into stow to protect the three lenses on it. So technically, you should only see the lenses when the aircraft is in flight, or as stated, when maintenance is being done, and they are testing the system. Aside from that, this is a spectacular build, and looks just like the A-6E's that I always saw on the various carriers I was attached to!! Great job!
