In this video I built the "Dust Inhaler" It is a portable down draft table. It is 2' wide, 3' long and 6" deep. I made it so it can hook up to my dust collector and boy does it suck!

The dust port should have been on the long side, or better yet, at the center of the bottom. If on the long side, use three slanted directors to the exit hole, if in the center of the bottom , 4 slanted directors. You would like the distance from all the holes to be as close to the same as possible to get equal suction everywhere. To test the air flow without instruments one can use a stick of incense that puts off a small stream of smoke to show relative suction at different places along the top. The only time this is a problem is if you are sanding something that is large compared tot the holed area of the top. If sanding something relatively small, sand it near the outlet end.

3:34 I’ve been making content for a while and digested my fair share as well and I really can’t say that I’ve seen anyone do a Timelapse underneath an ad that continuously plays on top? If you see this, and I know it’s old, but if you’re able to share anything even anecdotally - how did this do in terms of conversion? Phenomenal idea! I know that’s not the purpose of this video but still haha great stuff. Additionally, I found this as I had the same idea but to add vent fans flush mounted to the underside the support structure of the table with some sort of filtration feature. How do you think that’ll work? I’d still keep the vacuum hose

Wes - Neat must have! Sorry to reply so long after the original post but I am just starting out and recently subscribed to your channel with notifications. Woodworking is my retirement hobby and I bought some tools and am getting ready to build shop jigs and cabinets. Once that is done, I thought I would try a bedroom suite based upon your red oak dresser. I had some work done in my yard and I have a great deal of left over Louisiana cypress in 9' lengths and many of the boards are 8' wide. Since I can mill the wood and more is easily purchased here in Mississippi, I was wondering on your thoughts on use of the cypress. Thanks and keep posting the great content!

Nice job! If you used peg board I think it would flex. Supports would be needed which complicated the ramp idea. I'm wondering if the dust might get better pickup if the ramp is focused down in the middle. Also, I think reducing the column inside will increase effectiveness.Whats you thoughts?

@@WesHamstra I'm just brainstorming but I'm channeling a Dust Stopper vortex situation that could possibly increase dust removal. Picture a funnel situation pointing right down in the middle. If a vortex can be set up, no dust would have a chance to build up and or stick because of the rotation. I might be in to something. Let's figure this out if it's worth perusing. I do think that reducing the inside.volume with a ramp/ funnel etc is much better than just putting a hole in the side for a vac tube. As Im typing, I just got an idea of possibly chicken wire to mold the inside, maybe cover with duct tape and using spray foam insulation to creat the ideal inside shape. Maybe you can bring this idea home. This is kinda fun

I had a king industrial table saw. I upgraded to the 3hp professional sawstop. I didn’t care for it. It was very cheaply made. It didn’t mater what blade I put in it, it would wobble like crazy. They also said it had a 2hp motor yet it struggled to cut through 1” maple with a new blade. My jobsite dewalt tablesaw had more power. I wouldn’t recommend it.
