He needs to be on a fat salary.

A tip regarding the wood router, I noticed that it "pulled" when Sean rounded the side edge of the hinge. That's because he started from the wrong direction. You want the sharp edge of the router bit to cut on the left side (viewed from above). The router spins clockwise but you shall move the router counterclockwise. It gives the best control over the tool, also don't use gloves. This is the right way, it makes for the best result and it's the safe way. I know this because I'm a cabinet maker with 30 years of experience, so I've done a lot of routing.

Sean is the man when it comes to the metal fab! best thing thats happened to this channel since you started it. The whole crew works together so well on video

9:51 Robby, you're still thinking and saying "hurry up and..." and honestly THAT is the biggest lesson that you guys can learn from Sean: slow down. You're doing expert-level craftsmanship and custom fabrication. That requires that you slow down and take your time. It's not about cranking out mediocre, or acceptable quality pieces - at-speed. It's (now) about putting out high-quality craftsmanship, now that you guys are doing custom builds like this. And for that, slowing down, taking your time is the actual answer.

It is classic. He knows what it takes to do body work, but forgets what metal work takes, and Sean makes it look easy. So obviously he should be done quicker,

It's cool that Sean is feeling so much more comfortable on camera every video. He's prob the best new addition to the team.

Much respect to Sean! Awesome fabricator! I've been a fabricator for 35+ years, specializing in Race Cars specifically, but a good fabricator can build anything, Sean's that guy. Watch and learn because these are skills you won't find anywhere but from a master craftsman. It's gonna be an awesome build, Good luck!

Robby, with Sean in the shop, it seems to me you have opened yourself to a new learning curve to your skills. You are very excited about the creativity that fabricating your own parts is growing viewers and interest. Every time we see Sean, he wows the viewers just like you are wowed.

Little tip I learned from a heavy industry welder. If you run your frequency up really high it helps establish and concentrate the arc. You will also end up with a smaller heat effect zone. Note you will have to run lower current then you are use to and the sound is terrible.

Fabricating and welding is a true art i always see my work as crap but everyone who sees my art think it looks great 😊

Robby i am totally loving this build. It may be just me but the back door is giving me old school Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Van vibes. Which I'm so totally digging.

Look At Shawn being his own camera guy and doing a great job ! Shawn has proven to be a great addition to the team. Robby is picking up so much knowledge from Shawn. It is great that Robby has acquired so much equipment that Shawm knows how to use . Team Layton is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Sean does amazing work. You have to wear a respirator when sanding/grinding aluminum. When the particles enter your lungs, they do not leave!

If you mak e rhe bed hinges stick farther from the wall, you'll have room for the mattress when folded up.

I love all the fabrication done to this van. I learned lots of this in trade school in the 70ties. but never got to use the those skills much in my work life. Robby I hope you realize you are setting the bar so high in the build competition that in the future competition Onyx needs to set more limits so normal shops can compete.
