***** Yeah I was suprised at the high sound level aswell. At normal listening volumes it should hold up just fine ,but at high at the point of clipping it can fry your speakers, so just dont push it as loud as you would normally with the PC. By the way , I love your videos especially your Gaming Den series. You really have alot of cool ideas! Keep doing what you're doing!

Interesting, but still an awfully bad idea. The KRK has a good and much more powerful amp inside which was taken out and replaced with a low-power and most important, low-quality amp from the bluetooth speaker. I would have attached a battery-powered bluetooth adaptor to the original KRK speaker, inside, and leave the internal amp too. Yes, it would still be a "bluetooth speaker", even not a totally portable one since it needs power from an outlet.

+YourTrulyFriend They should've used the amp inside the speaker (the native one) and use a li-ion battery to power it up. The amp inside already runs on low voltage provided by a step-down power converter, which was probably blown in this speaker (usually they are the ones that go first). There were high chances for the amp itself to still be good for use.

  • @SteveS29

It might not have worked cos the speaker wasn't working and because the wires and actual cabinet was working, that means that the amp was faulty

You forgot that the crossover in active speakers is inside the active amp. Now the tweeter plays (or tries to play) low frequencies, and the "subwoofer" plays high ones. This thing will not sound awesome.. The whole dsp is missing right now.

I bet you used a goddamn sony bookshelf speaker that has mids that are dampened to -10DB from 1.25K to 6K then that have a cap on the tweeter and no real crossover, which is how you thought they were decent. With KRKs you need a actual crossover or you'll blow the tweeter and the woofer will distort massively, as these are studio monitors, not home speakers.

such a pain to watch.. this happens when you have tons of money. you just trashed a high quality active monitor. there's a big chance it was an easy repair and you would have gotten your speaker back but decided to butcher it. you do realize that now you have No filters on the drivers, the active crossover is built in the amp PCB which you just ripped out. now your tweeter is trying to play mids and lows, and the woofer receives the highs also. thank god that BT speaker is prob like 3 watts otherwise it would have fried the tweeter in the first minute.

Eh, the only thing making those speakers what they are is the fine amount of detail put into the internal hardware (i.e. DAC and amp) in the circuitry you simply cut off. Those speakers are nothing special on their own. Oh, and KRK's aren't for bass. They're monitoring speakers for precise, non-colored recreation of sound.
