Фильм және анимация

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Popsicle sticks: 8,000
Glue sticks: 600
Q:How old are you?
A:15 when I started this, 17 when I finished
Q:How much can I buy this for?
A:Not selling it
Q:What do you use to cut the sticks?
A:"Anvil cutters" google it.
Q:Where do you buy sticks?
A:AC Moore, but you can get them at places like walmart or online
Q:What glue do you use?
A:Hot glue, dries in seconds.
Q:Why put inside walls if you can't see inside?
A: You CAN see inside, that's why I loaded it up with windows, and also, they are structural.
Q:Can I see the plans?
A:Sure, go to my facebook page, "TheMrFinneth" and find them in the photos.
Q:What are you going to have as a job?
A:Hopefully an architect!
9/2014 update: Going to Penn State for Business Management
Q:Are you going to paint it?
A:No. I like the wood look, and it painting it would make it look cheesy and take away from the fact that it's built with popsicle sticks.

2: Tony Rice - Blackberry Blossom
3: Tony Rice - Mar East
4: Tony Rice - Plastic Banana

This is an awesome example of dedication to something you obviously enjoy. Sadly if it isn't cardboard box ready...most people don't appreciate your art. If you make a career out of something you enjoy, you will get the most out of your life and be happy. You won't end up like some of the people commenting with their inability to appreciate what you have created. You won't be miserable like them, dragging your butt to a JOB. Goodluck with your plans to be an architect!

I would not. I have studied architecture. We had a class in high school that did exactly this. It was the most popular class in the program, I tried to get it 3 years in a row. Never did. They created a full set of blueprints and built the house in 1"=1' scale with foundation, stud walls, electrical wiring and lights, plumbing, working windows, brick, shingle roofing, all just like a real house, and all in 9 months, in addition to their other classes. It took this guy 2 years? No thanks.

You made it look so easy!!! I actually found your video because I was searching for information about how to make something like this. I like the way you construct your buildings much better than the other videos I've seen. You actually build your houses. Other people just join sections of wall together. The buildings look flimsy that way. Yours look like they will last. If you are going to put that kind of effort and time into something, you want it to be durable. Thanks so much for the inspiration! Now I want to try. Think I better start small though. :)

WOW 2. absolutely amazing job 3. really nice design as well 4. nice to see someone your age doing something constructive not just sitting infront of the XBOX or Playstation 24/7 I see you have done a few of these now . I think its fantastic. you should try talkin to some contractors or wood floor installers about getting some free leftover scrap wood . you could run wood floor scraps over a table saw and have tons of oak or mahagony or cherry strips.

i used to bring home from jobsites tons of leftover flooring .and cut off the tongue edge and the groove edge to cut squares to make chess boards you could get enough mini planks out of 2 or 3 pieces of flooring to cover an entire floor or two . and i wood bet that if maybe you were willing to trade some jobsite clean up like sweeping , you might even get a carpenter nice enough to rip them all for you on a saw . specially if you show him some of your work and tell him why you want it.

Phenomenal! As I was watching, I began to wonder what you were going to do for employment. First, I thought contractor. But then I thought: No. He's a designer. Architect for sure. Then I read your FAQs & you once thought you'd do that, but changed to Business Management. I still think you're an architect at heart. Business management won't be fulfilling. I speak from experience. I hope you're happy whatever you're doing. This project is unreal .. extraordinary! I saw another completed project on the floor in the same room. You must have done that at age 13-14? This seems like a passion of yours. It makes me a bit sad for you to think you're not pursuing it. You really did something spectacular here.

I had a woodworking class in 9th grade where we had a semester project to draw the blueprints of a home then built it like this. We didn't use popsicle sticks but wood that was of better quality. It had to be more exact. For example, the floor joists had to pass the test of the teacher actually standing on it. It came out really nice.

even though this video is like 7 years old. this man inspired me to make a Popsicle house, i tried doing it realistically and it worked out perfectly. the reason i built this Popsicle stick house was one i want to be a architect when i grow up and two i was interested in it. making models can either be for fun or for a real house that your gonna make when you get ready for it, and i just did it for fun. obviously it was fun and was pretty small but it worked out perfectly. this house of TheMrFinneth's looks fantastic.

This is bad ass!! You have this carpenters thumbs up!!! I agree, painting it would look cheesy. I would consider sealing it with a natural sealer to keep the sticks from twisting. Then again the Popsicle sticks are kiln dried I'm sure. You do display your talent without a doubt. Even if there aren't cripples for your headers. But why bother, it's not like someone will live in it except maybe a hamster lol, but you know what kind of damage rodents can cause. haha You will go places young man!! I highly recommend sticking with the architectural design rather than being me, the guy reading your blueprint and stick building your house. It takes it's toll on the body. I think you should take it to the next level, get yourself a half sheet of plywood and set the house on it and then do the fake grass and landscaping. You could use some mortar to poor the driveway, sidewalks, garage floor. Then do an in ground pool. Build a pergola over it. Oh man brother, you could totally "Trump" out your house, you could even build the prison next door out of stone for Killary!!! Then next to that you could have the Billy Wonka castration station!! LoL Sorry, No house is built without political BS in the real world. You're an inspiration, you killed it little bro!!! Best of luck to you with it!!

Thanks! Ya I ignored a lot of the framing details since it was strong enough without it. About a year after this, I made an architectural model with balsa wood of a ranch house that I designed (with a hip roof that was not easy). It's on my channel. The other day I just finished framing out our basement, too. We're finishing it ourselves.

  • @DaPainterDude

    @DaPainterDude

    7 жыл бұрын

The most important step to finishing a basement, use pressure treated lumber for your bottom plate on your walls! I run a few beads of heavy duty liquid nails down the pressure treated 2x4. then slap it down on my straight chalk line. Then I smash some rounds into the 2x4 with my ram set. Be sure to wear ear plugs! Vapor barrier is a good idea as well before you rock the walls. Spend the extra money and go with green board. Its only like a buck more per sheet, well worth it. Also, before you rock the basement, now is the time to spray the ceiling and all duct work black if your not going to drop the ceiling. You do amazing work, Im sure you will do fine in your basement!! If you need any tips or advice, please don't hesitate!! Take care my fellow crafty wood beaver!

  • @TheMrFinneth

    @TheMrFinneth

    7 жыл бұрын

Thanks! For the vapor barrier we dry-locked the walls and then glued 1/2" (i think) rigid foam board over that and sealed the joints. Framed the walls right up against that with a pressure treated bottom plate. Ceilings are about 9 feet down there which is nice. Framing is done as of last week, electrician/plumber is coming out tomorrow to do his work. After that we'll insulate and after new years we'll drywall. It's a lot of fun but challenging
